Up for auction is this well-sorted 1986 911 Carrera Targa finished in Guards Red. With its distinctive wraparound Targa bar and iconic glass-dome rear windshield, the 911 Targa offers both open-air cruising and a coupe-like driving experience with the top up. Sold new at Porsche of Reno in Reno, Nevada, this example quickly made it's way to New York where it currently remains. This Targa now shows approximately 93k miles on the odometer and is being offered for auction in great driver-grade condition by a PCA member in New York City.
Having been fully resprayed in its original color of Guards Red only a few months ago, this Targa now showcases fresh paint that is stated to be in excellent condition. The seller confirms that this Targa has never undergone any bodywork and remains rust-free with all original panels and trim. This 911 rides on original Fuchs wheels which show to be in great condition and come wrapped in new Goodyear Eagle Sport tires.
Inside, this Targa sports a period-correct black partial leather interior that comes equipped with a factory air conditioning and cruise control. This interior is stated to be in excellent condition, showing minimal signs of wear. Within the last few months, the owner has replaced the headliner along with the charcoal canister, upper steering wheel bearing, front speakers and front seat leather inserts, freshening up this interior for a new owner. All gauges, electrical components and accessories are reported to be fully functional with the exception of the clock, however, the seller is currently in the process of having it fixed. This 911 stands in great overall condition, a true testament to the level of care and attention that it has received throughout the years.
This Targa carries a numbers matching air-cooled 3.2 L flat-six engine that is rated at 217 HP. Power is sent to the rear wheels by way of a smooth 5-speed manual transmission providing for a raw and connected driving experience. The seller has indicated that service records from day one up until 09/26/1988 are stamped in the original maintenance book and records from 01/26/07 to 09/29/2014 will be included in sale. All previous service was said to be performed at Autobahn performance by qualified technicians.
