Designated as the flagship model in its class between 1980 and 1986, the Porsche 928 S featured a range of enhancements over the standard 928 including front and rear spoilers, improved brakes, and a more powerful V8 engine. This final-year example comes finished in Black over matching leather upholstery and features a rare 5-speed manual transmission. It was further optioned with increased air conditioning, a limited-slip differential, heated seats, and more. It is now being offered for auction at no reserve by its seller out of Rhode Island.

Compared to an entry-level 928, the “S” model could be distinguished by its black polyurethane front and rear spoilers as well as body-colored side moldings. This 1986 example comes finished in Black and rides on factory 16” forged aluminum slotted disc wheels dressed in Goodyear Eagle tires from 2012. The front-end body panels are said to have been replaced in 1990 followed by complete exterior repaint in 1998. The seller notes the lower front air dam is missing, slight paint cracking is present on the seam of the driver-side quarter and rear bumper panel, and some surface rust is visible on the passenger-side door jamb. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing minor damage in August 2008 and July 2020.

The cabin is appointed with black partial leather upholstery and features an electric sunroof, a raised steering wheel hub, heated power seats, and increased rear seat air conditioning. The seller notes some holes are present in the driver’s seat along with some wear on the driver’s side carpeting. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are reported to be working properly except for the odometer. The car's total mileage is unknown.

A naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 engine delivers up to 288 HP and 302 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transaxle. Stopping power comes from fixed 4-piston brakes and ventilated discs at each corner. The seller states there are currently no outstanding maintenance items.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting this auction. This vehicle has been a pleasure to drive for all these years. I cannot drive it anymore because of a stroke. All required maintenance has been done within the mileage specifications. The vehicle has been maintained by a Porsche mechanic.”

@1991928gt That would be difficult today, I am alone and can't drive and video at the same time, because of my arm. But I drove it into my side yard and it shifted fine.

Does the air conditioning work? Does it blow from all vents: dash board, doors and back seats? Do the rear hatch remote buttons work? Any problems with the sun roof? Open and close correctly? Does it leak? Do you have the wheel lock key? Are there any fluid leaks? Oil leaks? Sounds like your mechanic replaced the clutch...do you remember when it was done? Approximately how many miles ago?

The motor doesn't normally sound like that. My mechanic has not notioned anything. No undercarrage rust, to my knowledge. No structural rust. Origional clutch with plates worked on. No estimates available.

  • Doc18015 (registered bidder) 4 months, 2 weeksago

The engine has much noise. Has your mechanic diagnosed it? Any undercarriage pictures of rust issues? Any known rust issues such as frame, structural? Have you ever replaced the clutch? Do you have repair estimates. Thank you.

Front End. In heavr traffic on intersate, stop & go, rolledinto a leased vehicle. No damage to Porsche. OV had two scratches on rear bumper from the screws of my license plate.

Rear End. Porsche parked in parking lot a Rav4 backed into Porsche. Outside spare tire pushed in the rear rubber bumper. Slight crack in paint on drivers rear quarter panel. Pic 16.

Pic 53. Tape holding cracked passenger window guide. Unknown reason for crack.

Water pump and timing belt changed approximately every 45K miles. Last done at about 110K miles. New fuel pump in 2000. Did not notice any cracked hoses.

Porsche drives very good. Handles well and cruises.

  • Crumbs (registered bidder) 4 months, 2 weeksago

@BK928 Since you've owned the car so long can you elaborate on the different front and rear body damage reported in the listing and the carfax? What happened? What was changed/fixed?

    what is picture 53?

Post says no outstanding maintenance items. Curious when major things like water pump, timing belt, fuel line refresh were done last? there is clear cracking in some hoses on the front side of the engine and the intake could obviously use a refresh.

How does the car run and drive?

  • BK928 (seller) 4 months, 3 weeksago

I have owned this car since 1990. I bought it with 25K miles on it. This car didn't just sit around, I drove it regularly all year round. Just not in the snow. I never dreamed of selling it until I couldn't drive it anymore. I had a stroke and lost the function of my right arm. All maintenance has been done by a Porsche machanic.
