We are pleased to offer this custom-built 1986 Porsche 930 Turbo finished in Guards Red over black.  This 1986 example was purchased by the current owner about seven years ago having already undergone custom modifications including vented 930SE-style rear fenders, boxed rocker panels, 993 door handles, and a 993 Turbo rear wing.  Since the owner’s purchase, extensive performance upgrades have been carried out by MAXRPM Motorsports including a 5-speed G50 gearbox with limited-slip differential, a Brembo GT Series brake kit, a 935 coil over suspension kit, and a custom-built 3.4L twin-plug turbocharged flat-six engine capable of producing nearly 600 HP at the rear wheels.  The build was completed in 2020 at a cost of over $123k and is now being offered for auction by its owner out of Washington with just over 700 miles driven since.

This 930 is finished in Guards Red and features custom 993-style door handles, aero mirrors, and a 993 Turbo rear spoiler.  Boxed rocker panels were also added along with steel 930SE-style rear fenders and custom front and rear bumpers.  The car is said to have undergone professional detailing and polishing recently, additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  This Turbo rides on a set of new 19” HRE 540R wheels dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

Inside, the black interior has been modified with 996 GT3 Recaro bucket seats, Sparco harnesses, a roll cage, and RS-style door panels.  Other additions include a custom carbon fiber center console, a MOMO steering wheel and shifter, red Turbo floormats, white instrument dials, and an HKS EVC digital boost controller mounted in front of the tachometer.  The odometer currently reads just over 700 miles and is said to reflect the distance traveled since the completion of the build.  There is no air conditioning, and all other gauges and accessories are reported to be fully functional.

The original flat-six engine was completely rebuilt by MAXRPM Motorsports with upgraded LN Engineering cylinders and 7.5:1 JE pistons for an increased displacement of 3.4L.  Other engine upgrades include ARP studs and rod bolts, a lightened and polished crankshaft, twin-plug 3.2 Carrera cylinder heads, a 3.2 Carrera intake manifold, a custom fuel system, Garrett GTX3582R turbocharger, Turbo Kraft intercooler, a TiAL blowoff valve and wastegate, a full B&B exhaust system, and Electromotive Tec 3R engine management system.  Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed G50 manual transmission with a Patrick Racing flywheel and Quaife limited-slip differential.

The suspension was upgraded with a 935 coil-over kit including Elephant Racing shock tower and spring plate kits as well as Tarett sway bars.  Stopping power is handled by a Brembo GT Series big brake kit installed at a cost of over $9,500.  All work was carried out by MAXRPM Motorsports and the car is said to have been expertly tuned and dialed in for optimal performance.  A detailed invoice is provided in the photo gallery along with images of the engine build showing the incredible amount of work that has gone into this 930.

This sale will include extensive build invoices and a clean title. A true no-expense-spared build carried out to the highest standard, this Turbo is sure to provide a thrilling experience for its next lucky owner.

This car would cost between $250,000-$300,000 to build today if you were to buy a 930 and do all the things that were done to it. And it is WAY below where I originally set my reserve.

In case any of you looked at the videos already, I wanted you to know that there had been a mistake. One of the videos got loaded twice and the highway video showing the high-speed pulls did not get loaded. This has been corrected. The one on the freeway is the fourth video down from the top (second from the bottom.) Enjoy!

  • dawgfan1214 (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

Hey all, I just added 4 driving videos for your viewing enjoyment. I did a couple slow, in town driving videos showing how she performs at low RPM and one on the highway with 5-6 good solid pulls from 60.

I also added a pic of the keys. I have three keys for this vehicle. 2 standard keys and one valet key.

    Good luck all!

@agt6381 that is unfortunately something I am unable to answer simply because I don’t live in CA and don’t know their licensing and registration rules. Since the car is now technically 35 years old many states seem to have easier licensing rules for cars of that age because they can fall into the antique/classic category for registration. It was no problem for me to register it in Washington however, even before it fell into this category. It is current registered in WA just as a standard car. Not an antique or classic. Hope that helps.

@Stachmiso Sorry I missed it somehow, I see it now

I see Dyno video, but I didn't see Dyno sheet?
    Can you post that ?

  • agt6381 (registered bidder) 2 years, 10 monthsago

I know this has been registered in CA. Since this has been modified. Can this still be registered in CA?

@Maxoverdrive thank you for your compliments. Yes you are correct. All those functions work properly.

  • Maxoverdrive (registered bidder) 2 years, 10 monthsago

Beautiful custom Porsche and well presented. You stated a/c was removed and all other accessories work as intended, so I am assuming heat and defrost functions along with fresh air blower function. Thank you for your time.

  • dawgfan1214 (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

@torresmd I don’t. The builder of this car at MaxRPM was also the previous owner (for about the previous 12+ years) that I bought it from in 2014. He had done all of the bodywork before my ownership and I don’t have any additional parts. However, like I mentioned in the write up, he really is an artist in his builds, both aesthetically and mechanically, and I think the balance that the 993 wing provides compliments this build perfectly. But beauty is of course in the eye of the beholder so if you wanted to go back to the original wing look that would certainly be an easy swap. Thanks for your inquiry. Please let me know if there is anything else I can answer for you.

Hello, very nice car and build. Wondering if you happen to have the original 930 whale tale?

  • dawgfan1214 (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

When the car was completed in 2020, since virtually everything on the car was new, I had the odometer set back to zero. So the current reading of 746 is the distance it’s traveled since completion of the build. And in my opinion this car reflects a similar condition to what a 746 mileage car would look like after being purchased new from a dealer.

Also, one other item I thought I'd be proactive in mentioning, because I thought someone might be likely to ask this as well. While this car has a roll cage and a harness, that was purely for the look we wanted to achieve. Nothing else. The car has never been tracked. (Nor should it be tracked if you want my honest opinion.)

  • dawgfan1214 (seller) 2 years, 10 monthsago

Hey all, I'm excited to introduce you to CAFEINE! (Yes its misspelled because you can only get 7 letters on a WA license plate.) This car was a 7 year labor of love ... with no expense spared as you can see by the build sheet that is in the photo gallery. I know many of you might ask why would I spend 7 years building a car of this caliber and expense and then sell it after only 700 miles, so I thought I'd answer that right off the bat. Sometimes projects take so long that life and interests have moved on to something new by the time they are completed. And while I love this car, and it is a true work of art both aesthetically and mechanically, by a master craftsman of both skillsets, during the time this was being built I began tracking and racing GT cars, which now fill my garage space, and which I'm not willing to give up because it's become a significant part of my life. That is the simple reason why. I'm sure some of you out there understand what I'm talking about.

However, this car was finished to what I consider perfection all the very to the very end even though I decided not to keep it. It was a true no expenses spared build.

I'm excited for someone out there to get a true one of one. I promise the lucky winner will not be disappointed.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. I'm happy to answer anything I can.

    Good luck!
