Up for auction is this 1986 Porsche 930 Turbo Coupe finished in Meteor Metallic.  Marking the return of the 911 Turbo to the U.S. market after a 7-year hiatus, this 1986 example came factory finished in a special-order paint color along with a Grey Green interior featuring desirable leather Sport Seats.  It was acquired by the current owner in 2006 and has been treated to several major services including a rebuild of the transmission with a new clutch and flywheel within the last 15k miles.  This classic driver-grade 930 is now being offered by its longtime owner out of New Jersey with approximately 117k miles showing on the odometer.

This Turbo came factory finished in Meteor Metallic (961) a rare special order color for the 1986 model year.  Exterior features include a front valence with integrated fog lights and a rubber chin spoiler, wide fenders, black stone guards, and a signature Tea Tray rear spoiler.  Updated 993-style aero mirrors have been equipped, the windows have been tinted, and the car was completely refinished in its original color under prior ownership.  Some cosmetic imperfections are noted throughout the exterior including paint chips on the hood and front bumper.  Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  The 16” Fuchs wheels have been refinished with silver painted spokes to match the outer lips and come fitted with colored Porsche center crests along with BF Goodrich g-Force Sport tires.

The cabin is trimmed in Grey Green leather and features heated and power-operated factory Sport Seats, a custom four-spoke MOMO steering wheel, a carbon-pattern MOMO shift knob, custom Lloyd's black carpet floor mats, and a Nakamichi head unit paired with upgraded rear shelf speakers and a trunk-mounted amplifier.  Some signs of wear are present on the driver’s seat and the headliner toward the rear of the sunroof has begun to separate and is currently held in place by clips.  All gauges and accessories are said to be working properly, although the sunroof tracks are reportedly misaligned.

This 930 is equipped with an air-cooled 3.3L turbocharged and intercooled flat-six engine rated at 282 HP and 289 lb.-ft of torque.  The rear wheels are driven by way of a 4-speed manual gearbox.  Invoices show a rebuild of the gearbox to have been carried out in 2005 at 103k miles along with the installation of a new clutch, flywheel, pilot bearing, and starter motor.  During this time the ignition system was refreshed and the A/C system was serviced with all new lines, a new condenser, expansion valve, drier, and electric fan.  More recent service includes new spark plugs, belts, and hood shocks in 2015 and the installation of a replacement right-side heat exchanger in 2017.  Corresponding invoices are provided in the gallery.

This sale will include an assortment of service records, a spare tire, and a clean title. Now is your chance to get behind the wheel of one of the most iconic air-cooled Porsches of all time, do not let this nicely appointed '86 Turbo pass you by.

Franky993, The wheels still look great after 6 years. Crazy to find them on here. Good luck on the sale

  • Franky993 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Franky993 hey got the ppi report trying to upload it now

  • Franky993 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Stett72 Just checked and the report is nla. Looks like they only give a certain amount of time to download it. The car is available ppi if you’d like to schedule one

  • Stett72 (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Franky993 Good morning, any shot of that PPI today? Watching a few cars across a few sites and need the additional information for decision making please.

  • Franky993 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@Stett72 we just did a PPI last week and I will upload it later this evening.

  • Stett72 (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Seller: Have a PPI report you can share?

Why did you slather armor on the interior.l? Looks awful with everything all shiny, looks like worn out plastic. Would much rather see worn natural looking leather. Hard to tell condition of interior with all that artificial shine. Otherwise looks like a nice one…very interested in learning more about mechanical condition. While great to know work was done, receipts from many years ago aren’t of assistance in determining current mechanical condition. Please let the crew of bidders know if a PPI has been done by a dealership or reputable shop can be done and posted. Thanks!

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Seller, Looked again and it's picture # 93 ( driver's rear ) not much tread there it seems
    Dig the wheels BTW
    Good looking 930 Turbo !!

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

    Seller,
    Thank you for the reply
The videos just increase auction potential ( imho ) especially if the aftermarket exhaust sounds as good as my Fab-speed muffler by-pass pipes do !
I will look again but the single picture of the Driver's rear tire looks bald in the center
    ( to me)

  • Franky993 (seller) 2 years, 5 monthsago

@sportscarguy3 ? . Rear tiers maybe have about 3k on them. Will do cold start and driving vids tomorrow. Yes it is after market exhaust

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

PS. Looks like it needs tires, at least the rears
The usual videos would be helpful also seller.
Cold start, warm engine running and driving
    Also aftermarket exhaust correct?

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 2 years, 5 monthsago

Next to a black/black 930 turbo, which I recently bought (1987 ), this exterior color would be the one for me!
Really makes the lines on this 930 turbo stand out
The interior looks good as well, not sure about the fourth spoke Momo wheel, but better than Factory
Even with 117 K miles, with services and this clean look this little gem should do well
    Good luck all!
