The 1986 model year saw the introduction of the Porsche 944 Turbo (951), which featured a new turbocharged and intercooled engine, improved aerodynamics, stiffer suspension, and larger brakes than the standard 944 model. This launch-year example comes finished in Alpine White over Black upholstery and features optional body-color wheels, a limited-slip differential, an electric sunroof, and more. Modified with an engine tune and a Lindsey Racing exhaust, this 944 Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Tennessee with approximately 55k miles showing on the odometer.

The 944 Turbo is distinguished from a standard 944 by its more rounded aerodynamic nose with an integrated bumper, driving lights, and a body-colored diffuser below the rear bumper. This example is finished in Alpine White and rides on 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels with color-matched centers and Continental Extreme Contact tires with 85% remaining tread life. The seller notes some paint correction was applied to address rock chips on the nose, hood, and front fenders. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a CARFAX report.

The cabin is appointed with Black upholstery and features an optional electric sunroof, partial leather front seats, and cruise control. Other features include power windows, electrically adjustable seats, a digital clock, and air conditioning. Additionally, a set of three gauges has been fitted to the center console. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are confirmed to be in proper working order.

The turbocharged 2.5L inline four-cylinder engine produces as much as 220 HP and 243 lb.-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission with an optional limited-slip differential. Performance has been modified with an engine chip and a Lindsey Racing exhaust system. Additionally, the timing belt was replaced at 51,400 miles in July 2018. No outstanding maintenance items have been reported.

This sale will include a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “This 944 Turbo is in exceptional condition. Although the loose-leaf notebook documenting all services since new, including the original window sticker, has gone missing, the car’s immaculate condition and performance clearly reflect meticulous care and proper dry storage. Equipped with a performance chip and a Lindsey SS exhaust, this vehicle is exceptionally fast, responsive, and agile. The suspension is firm, complemented by Continental Contact tires with deep tread. The brakes are in good order, and the transmission is flawless with smooth, precise synchros. The paint is largely original and flawless, with only minor corrective work on the nose, showing no signs of accident history. I have never driven a faster, tighter 944 Turbo. Always garaged, all trim remains crisp with no signs of sun fading or deterioration.”

White and black is almost impossible to find too! Not many people know this but the cars with Fuchs had the Koni shocks too. The early 951's did not have an "S" model but they had a few performance options like the Fuchs and Konis. Super condition for a rare option and color package. If it were a sunroof delete it would be extremely rare! We see all kinds of crazy stuff on these old cars but the "barney knob" is a first. Glad it's gone.

MattShaw-Good to see your name.I just checked the seal and it is as the rest of the car,it still looks freshand it does not allow moisture in.
Since you are in the area you are welcome to stop by to review the car.
I am actually shocked at the lack of warpage and cracks on the dash,I do not recall the last 944 that was free of cracks

The dash looks really good. Normally they are cracked and warped. Obviously this car has not seen much sun. Looks really well preserved.

  • MattShaw (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 4 daysago

Hey Jeff, great time machine. I had this exact car in black back in the day. How is the rear glass seal? Looks like the front clip has seen paint based on thickness. Is the paint color and texture a good match?

TubeGuy-I like your attitude of course.I have traded Porsche cars for coming up on 50 years, this jaded guy gets excited every time I fire that engine up and hear the audio note. This IS bar none one of the best if not the best 944 Turbo I have the opportunity to trade. In every aspect of the car, it is crisp and well-preserved.
BTW- no footprint on the steering wheel upon removing the Spinner Knob.

  • TubeGuy (registered bidder) 3 weeks, 6 daysago

Maybe the spinner knob was there to protect the steering wheel from wear? It may have left an indetation, but who CARES! Hands down the nicest 944 I've seen, and in the very best color and wheels.

I'm in awe. This is it. I can't stop looking.

Yes,that is a spinner knob,we removed.Great tool when driving a 49 Chevy but in the way when your pushed back against the seat when the turbo kicks in and you are negotiating a curve

  • Jimbo1907 (registered bidder) 1 monthago

It does look like a spinner knob, doesn't it.
