Introduced in 1986, the Mercedes-Benz 560SL was the pinnacle of the R107 SL-Class. Updates for the SL included a revised braking system and a deeper front air dam, while the 560 SL trim would receive an upgraded suspension, a 5.5-liter V8 engine, and a limited-slip differential. Presented in Astral Silver over Medium Red leather, this meticulously maintained 1987 example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California with less than 39k miles showing on the odometer.
The exterior is finished in Astral Silver (735U) with a matching removable hard top and a Black convertible soft top. Details include quad headlights, fog lights, chrome trim, and black bodyside moldings & bumpers with chrome accents. It sits on 15" Gullideckel alloy wheels. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, the cabin is trimmed in Medium Red leather (277A) with matching carpeting below. Walnut wood veneers line the dashboard, center console, and shifter surround. Amenities include a multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, automatic climate control, front folding armrests, power windows, an AM/FM stereo, and a Parktronic system. All gauges, electronics, and accessories are confirmed to be in proper working order.
Beneath the hood lies a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V8 producing 227 HP and 279 lb-ft. of torque. The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed automatic transmission and limited-slip differential. The seller adds that the vehicle was recently serviced at Malibu Moors, an independent Mercedes-Benz specialist in Santa Monica, California, where it received a clean bill of health.
This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a window sticker, and an unused toolkit & spare tire.
The seller would like you to know: “Without a doubt, this is one of the finest classically beautiful roadster designs built by Mercedes-Benz, probably the last classically beautiful convertible series they built and now becoming more desirable and collectible than ever before - certainly you will look long and hard to find a finer head-turning example with full documentation and with only 38k original miles in this most striking and desirable of color combinations available anywhere else!”
