For the 1987 model year, this Porsche 911 Carrera was updated with a more powerful engine and an improved 5-speed G50 manual gearbox. This 1987 Carrera Cabriolet comes finished in Grand Prix White over a Marine Blue interior and was delivered to the original owner at the factory in Stuttgart through Porsche’s Tourist Delivery program. It was equipped with optional front and rear spoilers, Sport Seats, Sport shock absorbers, and body-colored Fuchs wheels. The car was bought from the original owner in 2008 at 49k miles and has remained under the care of its second owner ever since. Supported by service history dating back to the original purchase, this Carrera Cabriolet is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Pennsylvania while showing under 63k miles on the odometer.

This 911 is finished in Grand Prix White with a dark blue electric convertible top and matching boot cover. The car was factory-optioned with front and rear spoilers as well as 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels with body-colored centers. Black stone guard decals are installed on the rear fenders and the wheels have been professionally refinished with polished outer lips and colored Porsche crest center caps. The car rides on Bridgestone S-02 (2017) tires showing 9/32” of tread depth. The car’s paint is described to be in excellent original condition while showing a few small chips that have been professionally touched up. The seller notes that it has been stored in an airplane hangar as part of the second owner’s collection since 2008. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The interior features optional Marine Blue leather Sport Seats with electric height adjustment along with matching carpets and a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel. Other accessories include power windows and mirrors, climate control, cruise control, a central locking system, an alarm system, a quartz clock, and an original Blaupunkt Reno SQR 46 radio. The seller reports all gauges and accessories are working properly and notes some minor wear on the outer driver’s seat bolster.

An air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 217 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed G50 manual transaxle. Optional Sport shock absorbers came equipped from the factory and the car has been fitted with an upgraded Porsche Cup exhaust. A detailed history of service is provided in the gallery dating back to the original purchase.

This sale will include the original sales order, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a car cover, service records, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know:We first purchased this car from a longtime customer, the original owner, back in 2008. He spec’d out the order for pickup at the factory in Stuttgart. Driving about 1,500 miles there on the Autobahn before returning to the factory for shipment back to the dealer. His officious attention to service and cosmetics is a testament to his dedication to the brand. In 2008, we traded it and resold it to another good customer who continued the same pattern of care. In 2020, he bought a new Panamera and this 911 became an object of art in his airplane hangar, although not driven much, it still received its due service and care. Not many 100% original paint cars with all matching numbers left. Consider yourself fortunate if you're its next caretaker.”

Thank you all for your bids, comments, and contact dealer actions. I am available this last hour for any further questions you may have about this exceptional 911 Carrera. The value of the G-body Cabriolets have the most upshot potential of any G-body 911 right now. We have all watched the coupes increase dramatically, next came the Targa variety...Guess what's next! Not everyone wants to be "cooped up" while driving their classic Porsche 911...Its more fun to "Be in the wind!" Good Luck, and keep bidding!

Been seeing his ads in our PCA newsletter for years now, and everyone in the club had good things to say. This car was the perfect reason to go visit today. Great weather to drive a convertible. It looks as good as the pictures. The top is unbelievable, wearing its original white stitching. he showed me the paint readings. Its original. Noticed a 1" scratch in hood where something musta fell on it. it is touched up and not obvious. The lower rocker covers show signs of being bumped by lift arms during service, but not real noticeable. Wheels look like new, spoiler great as well. Headlights are very clear. The interior is outrageous. Other than a slight rub on the drivers seat outside bolster (easily touched up, but I prefer the slight patina) the interior looks new, carpets, dash door panels and the door pockets are dead straight. Not something you'll see even at shows. The car started up easily, got to an idle right away, and sounded crisp when revved, up and down (like paper tearing). Clutch feels very good, shifts smooth, pulls strong, and feels solid and flat in the corners. Even the original Blaupunkt worked well. No static when using the volume knob, and the speakers sounded great. The sound of Steelie Dan blasting from an old cassette topped off the day. I must thank John for letting me drive it today. It has reassured me that I want a 911 G-Body Cabrio. Just a dream that one like this would be in my price range.. It's a Trophy Fish. I'll need to add a bit of weight on my line to catch one that swims a bit deeper in the water. Good Luck to whoever gets this one. It is a real prize. On the high side, John told me about an 83 cabrio he has in the works now. My fingers are crossed!

Can those turbo style black stone guards be removed?

  • JWaic (seller) 5 months, 3 weeksago

@Peabo- Yes, 175 comp. across all cylinders, and 2-3% LD.

@JWaic. Do you have leak down results? Thank you

  • JWaic (seller) 5 months, 3 weeksago

The Sachs clutch is original and exhibits no sign of wear, and engages in the middle where it should. Remember
these G-50 cars had the larger, spring centered clutch with hydraulic activation and are extremely robust compared to the earlier 915 models with rubber centers and cable activation.

  • Dallasporschefan 5 months, 3 weeksago

The IMS bearing "issue" is only an issue for the water-cooled cars which began with the 996 series.

  • Steveduva 5 months, 3 weeksago

Was the ims bearing an issue for this year ? And was the clutch ever replaced thank you !!
