The Porsche 911 was updated for the 1987 model year featuring a more powerful 3.2-liter flat-six engine paired with a new and refined 5-speed G50 manual transmission. This 1987 Carrera Coupe comes finished in Black over a Champagne Beige and Black interior and was factory-optioned with 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels, cruise control, an electric sunroof, and Sports shock absorbers. The car was first registered in Pennsylvania and moved to Nevada in 2003 where it remains to this day. Benefitting from a major recent service including valve adjustments, new spark plugs, and a leak down & compression test, this Carrera is now being offered for auction with approximately 150k miles showing on the odometer.

This Coupe comes finished in Black (L700) and features a front valence with integrated front fog lights and a chin spoiler as well as an OEM Carrera rear spoiler. The car rides on polished 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels dressed in Bridgestone Potenza Sport tires (2013). The seller describes the exterior to be in fair condition and could benefit from thorough detailing and polishing. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is lined with black carpeting and features Champagne Beige partial leather seats with matching door panels and a center console. Factory equipment includes an electrically height-adjustable driver’s seat, power windows and mirrors, an electric sunroof, air conditioning, cruise control, and a central locking system. An aftermarket aluminum footrest has been installed along with an aftermarket black leather shift knob, white instrument dials, and an Alpine stereo with upgraded speakers on the rear shelf. The seats exhibit some cracks and signs of wear, and the sunroof headliner is slightly sagging. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.

The air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine was rated at 217 HP and drives the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed G50 manual transaxle. Optional Sports shock absorbers came equipped from the factory. The seller indicates a major service was recently completed including an oil change, valve adjustments, a new fan belt, spark plugs, and a brake fluid flush. The engine compression and leak-down results are provided below:

  • Cylinder 1 – 145psi / 5%
  • Cylinder 2 – 150psi / 10%
  • Cylinder 3 – 150psi / 5%
  • Cylinder 4 – 145psi / 5%
  • Cylinder 5 – 150psi / 10%
  • Cylinder 6 – 150psi / 5%

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, and a clean title.

    Hey,

Why weren't the service records that are mentioned in the listing uploaded to the gallery?
Any chance you can get them uploaded before auction ends?

    Thanks

  • renorennsport (seller) 8 months, 2 weeksago

@OldSchool while I prefer the idea that I suck at driving, or that the gearbox is so bad it won't even stay in gear, unfortunately I believe you are describing the convex effect of full zoom out on an iphone camera.

  • Glickster 8 months, 2 weeksago

Nice little time machine. As the owner of an '87 Carrera I can tell you that even when the car was new the A/C never really blew cold. Still, 36 years later, everything still works (even the little light inside the glove box!) IMHO '87-'89 are the best G-cars (of course, I'm prejudiced ;-).)

I know the driver is leaning back to show the car in the drive video. That could explain some the hanging on the shift knob pre and post shift - other reasons bad form or are synchro's going?

@Ferry private party sale, we are not a dealer. I don't find paint meters useful if you know how to look closely. It appears not to have had any significant repairs or resprays. A good paint shop can respray the car to what most would consider an original spec.

  • renorennsport (seller) 8 months, 2 weeksago

@Revemup1 There are no glaring or obvious body or paint repairs from what we could see. I would also not describe it as a concours car by any means, more of a good driver. A/C compressor works and everything appears to work, but it does not blow cold. It likely either needs a charge or conversion depending on where you are located I leave that to the buyer. We can do the either here but for additional charge.

  • Revemup1 (registered bidder) 8 months, 2 weeksago

Has any body work and/or paintwork been done on the car. Is the A/C Cold?

  • sportscarguy3 (registered bidder) 8 months, 2 weeksago

    Another handsome G body, Porsche.
Looks to be in very good condition and sure it will do well
Just curious, I see quite a few of Pcar market auctions Have bids from RyangFriedman
Wondering if that’s the car dealership that specializes in Porsches., and east coast, Porsche dealer?
    Good luck all

My first 911 was a 1988 in this exact spec. Do you have any paint meter readings or maintenance records for this car?
