We are pleased to introduce this 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera finished in Grand Prix White over a black leather interior.  Marking the inaugural model year for the sought-after G50 5-speed manual gearbox, this 1987 Carrera is a lifelong West Coast car that is said to have been cared for by three private owners.  A very well-presented example, this Carrera shows just over 70k original miles on the odometer and was the subject of extensive preventative maintenance which included fluid and filter changes, valve adjustments, new cover gaskets, new brake calipers and hoses, a new clutch slave cylinder, and much more.  This 911 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Washington accompanied by its original manuals and dealer maintenance book which is stamped up to 59k miles.

This Carrera is finished in Grand Prix White and the paint is described to be in near flawless condition.  All panel gaps are consistent and the seller reports that the front hood had been previously refinished and blended into the fenders to alleviate rock chips.  Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX.  Externally, this Carrera features integrated front fog lights and 16” 7x8 polished Fuchs wheels with removable white plastic coatings on the centers.  These wheels were recently dressed in a brand-new set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires.

Inside, you will find a nicely preserved black leather interior with new Coco floormats and an aftermarket Alpine radio.  From the factory, this example came equipped with a sunroof, cruise control, central locking, power accessories, and a steering wheel with an elevated hub.  Some very minor wear is noted on the driver seat bolster and the cabin is said to be in excellent condition otherwise with all gauges and accessories remaining fully functional.

This Carrera is equipped with an air-cooled 3.2 L flat-six engine that sends 217 HP to the rear wheels through a desirable G50 5-speed manual gearbox first offered in 1987.  This example came factory equipped with Sport shock absorbers, and the suspension has been adjusted to European ride height.  The original dealer maintenance book shows service stamps up to 59k miles and the following preventative items were carried out very recently to ensure excellent mechanical order:

  • Replaced Deck Lid Shock
  • Replaced Brake Calipers and Hoses with OEM Parts
  • Replaced Clutch Slave Cylinder with OEM Part
  • Adjust Valves, Replace Cover Gaskets
  • Flushed Brake Lines
  • Replaced Transaxle Fluid
  • New Spark Plugs
  • New Griffiths Engine Fuel Line Kit
  • Oil Pressure Sender
  • Engine Sound Insulation Pad
  • Alternator and A/C Belts

This sale will include the original owner's manuals, dealer maintenance book, jack, spare tire, and a clean title.  This well cared for Carrera G50 is an ideal choice for any Porsche enthusiast in search of a high-quality air-cooled driver, do not miss out.

Darn just noticed in the lower right corner of the windshield the glass appears to be delaminating. Kind of a cloudy spot. I wonder has no one asked for a CoA or the Mahroney window sticker. Do you have it and forgot to include it??

Thanks for the detailed update! That is exactly what I needed. People in the PCA club have polished wheel and don’t want to permanently change that – now there is an option to address it. -- THANKS!!!

  • porscheklaus (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

@kfitzpat9 I do have paper service documentation as well.

  • porscheklaus (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

@SkyPilot I can.... start at the edge and pull. :) My consignor thought he'd like to see what the wheels looked like with color coded centers, something we did often back in the day when these cars were new. He was not sure however, that he'd like it. He used a "plastic dip" actually made by RustOleum that will simply peel off should he have not cared for the results. He likes the way they turned out, as do I and he says they have been remarkably easy to maintain and keep clean. The finish is more flat, not glossy and .... I think it works.

Beautiful car! I have an ‘87 cabrio in diamond blue with the big old tail out back. These cars are so fun to drive and put a smile on your face every time. I’ve had two 991s and currently have the ‘87 and a 997 4S and 993 4S. It’s always hard to choose between the 993 and the ‘87!

  • SkyPilot (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

    Hey porscheklus,
Can you please elaborate on the process, products and removal process if one wanted to change things back to totally polished wheels??
    Thanks,
    SkyPilot

  • porscheklaus (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

@SkyPilot The centers are plastic coated, the paint will peal off

  • kfitzpat9 (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

Nice looking car! I noticed where there are stamps from a dealership in the maintenance book up until 15,096 miles in May of 1989. I do see where there are hard-written notes in the maint. book without stamps, so do you have documentation to support those services. And then the last date at 59K miles was in 1995, so curious if you have any service history since then.

And then, do you have paint meter readings?

    Again, nice car!

  • SkyPilot (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

This is a well maintained G50 Porsche!!

I have never seen or heard polished Fuchs wheels with removable white plastic coatings on the centers. Can you please elaborate on the process, products and removal process if one wanted to change things back to totally polished wheels??
    Thanks

  • TomP852 (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

Shucks it’s that old concour judge in me snooping around looking for things not cleaned. It’s ok because we don’t have contestants open sun roofs . Things are easier they don’t have to start the engine or don’t need turn on lights including brake and signals. We use to get fires especially in modifieds and some old 356s If the undercarriage is as good as top side the car is really nice.

  • JTwinning (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

    @porscheklaus Thank you.

  • porscheklaus (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

@JTwinning True. Power seat options were individual per seat for many years

  • JTwinning (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

@Porscheklaus - It looks like only the drivers seat is power adjustable?

  • porscheklaus (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

    @TomP852 Old cosmoline Tom.

  • porscheklaus (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

@TomP852 Factory stuff Tom. You are correct, not rust :)

  • TomP852 (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

I notice with the sunroof retracted, some brown stains show up. Is this excess glue? I don't think it's rust. I think you should take a look at it. It's on both sides and in the front. Really looks like excess glue.

  • porscheklaus (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

@Rstrahota The lugs are locking lugs, I have replacements should you want them.

  • porscheklaus (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

@subzerowins NO .... no accident damage.

  • porscheklaus (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

@TomP852 Tom, interestingly I didn't see that until you mentioned it... easy PDR, no paint damage.... getting older, it's getting harder and harder to bent that low :)

  • porscheklaus (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

@cord4530 Sorry... second part of the question... I am a fan of both cars but, prefer the look of the G over the 964. Besides, if there is a good 964 left out there, Singer has bought it : )

  • porscheklaus (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

@cord4530 Yes, same car. I took the car on consignment a couple of years ago and it was acquired by a long time client and Porsche enthusiast of MANY years. He has had more than a few !

  • porscheklaus (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

@991.1GT3 Thanks....I need to thank the fine folks at Arbor Crest Winery in Spokane for the background. :)

@porscheklaus Beautiful car, Klaus! Am I remembering right that you had this car previously (few years ago?), or at least one very similar.

I don't want to open up a can of worms here, but since you have a lot of history/experience with Porsches, what are your feelings between a G body G50 car like this and a 964?

  • TomP852 (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

Aren't the wiper blades parked a little too high? Yes I do see the slight dent on the lower panel below the bumper and between the license plate and fog light-driver's side. Paintless Dent Remover? Any history before 1991?

  • Tim997TT (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

    One word..."WOW"....currently I have 2009 Turbo, 2014 Panamera Turbo..need an air cooled car !

  • subzerowins (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

Did the car have any accidents? Paint meter readings would be nice to show. Thanks.

  • Rstrahota 3 years, 1 monthago

Nice looking car... Is there a dent below the front bumper between play and fog light, driver's side? And do you by chance have the original lug bolts and center caps for the wheels?

  • 991.1GT3 (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

Great background shots! Seller- I just sent you a message. Thank you

  • porscheklaus (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

As a long time "Porsche guy" ( I started working for Porsche in 1978) I have seen and driven more than a few "G" bodied 911's. THIS is without question, one of the very, very best. The car starts, runs and drives perfectly. Don't wash it... you'll ruin it :)
