We are pleased to offer this 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe finished in Cassis Red Metallic. Representing the inaugural model year for the desirable 5-speed G50 manual transmission, this 1987 example also came factory optioned with front and rear spoilers, a limited-slip differential, a sunroof, and a gorgeous Burgundy leather interior. It was acquired by the current owner in 2015 from a private seller in Tennessee at 84,862 miles and has been driven approximately 6,500 miles since while being regularly maintained by classic Porsche specialists. This stunning air-cooled Carrera is now being offered for auction by its owner out of North Carolina while showing just over 91k miles on the odometer.
This Carrera is finished in the rare shade of Cassis Red Metallic and features factory optioned front and rear spoilers. Upgraded Flat6 Illumination LED headlights have been installed and the seller states that the original headlights will also accompany the sale. A clear protective film has been applied over the front end and headlight lenses, and the seller reports a few minor dings and scrapes throughout the exterior. Additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. This Carrera rides on factory 15" Fuchs wheels which are currently dressed in older Kumho Ecsta AST tires.
Complementing the exterior is a beautiful Burgundy leather interior with matching carpeting. The cabin has been customized with a Momo Prototipo steering wheel, Rennline floorboards, a Rennline adjustable pedal set, and custom-made Coco mats. Factory equipment includes a sunroof, power door locks, power windows, cruise control, air conditioning, and an alarm system. An upgraded Kenwood radio has been installed and the seller reports all instruments and accessories to be working properly.
This Carrera is equipped with an air-cooled 3.2L flat-six engine that sends up to 217 HP to the rear wheels through a 5-speed G50 manual gearbox and factory optioned limited-slip differential. Throughout the seller’s ownership, this 911 has been regularly maintained by local classic Porsche specialists. Service records are provided for reference in the photo gallery showing A/C and oil service in 2019, replacements of the shifter bushings and CV boots in 2018, and a major 85k-mile service in 2015 including new spark plugs and oil return tubes.

Also, I have applied a Paint Protection Film on the front to preserve the finish.
Generally the paint is in great shape.

@Iramaui808 that is actually a chassis number which is located by the smuggler's box. The VIN is located in other areas of the car (see pictures 83, 95 135, & 144).
@twickes40 yes it really is a spectacular color, even better in person. Check out photos 103 & 104 - there is no rust in this area. Could probably just use a nice detail.
Are you aware that pic #134 shows a different vin with a WP0ZZZ stamp which designates a non US car.

@88Gbody thanks for your interest in the auction and you bring up some great points. After discussing the vehicle’s potential with the PCAR pros I am confident it will find a nice home at a fair price - most of the price action typically occurs in the last few hours so let’s see how it ends up!
Regarding the maintenance of the vehicle, it has been serviced by local air-cooled Porsche specialists with a major 85,000 service performed as referenced in the write up. You’ll also notice in past comments that I noted the valves were adjusted during my ownership.

@Caymanorcarrera I agree with you. Bidding is a little weird here. No inquiries about leak down tests, valve adjustments, maintenance history, etc. that you usually see when the interest is up with serious competition. Hard to tell at this price, but this may be a good buy if it doesn't escalate much from here and I don't think it will.

Surprising to me that, with just hours left, we're nowhere close to market value.......I guess this venue is similar to BaT & EBAY.

@88Gbody Thanks for the compliment! And you are right, it could definitely use a nice details. But hey, that only means it will look even better than the pictures once cleaned up.
Nice car, but this is an example of where money spent on detailing the car would have brought a higher price. Especially engine bay, interior and in the rear just above the tail pipe exhaust.

@awave good morning. The battery area is in good shape, I have uploaded a picture to PCAR so they should post to the page shortly. I replaced the battery at around 88,000 miles with an Autocraft Platinum-AGM battery which works great. The car is always left on a trickle charger and hasn’t lost charge since replacement.
Regarding the rocker panel area, I unfortunately don’t have a way to get pictures of this (no lift)…but at 86,500 miles I did have all rockers removed and shafts resealed. All rockers were then adjusted to the correct valve clearances. They are in great shape.
