Up for auction is this well-sorted 1987 Carrera coupe finished in Venetian Blue Metallic. Representing the final iteration in the original 911 series, the Carrera 3.2 was the quintessential Porsche of the 1980’s. With a recent complete engine overhaul totaling over $25k, this example is being offered in excellent overall condition out of New York with 149k miles showing on the odometer.
The Venetian Blue Metallic finish on this Carrera is said to be in excellent condition with the only flaws being noted by the seller as some chips and minor blemishes. Detailed images of any imperfections and paint meter readings will be provided in the photo gallery. The front end was reportedly refinished about 6 years ago for cosmetic purposes; however, the rest of the paint is believed to be original. This Carrera highlights a factory Whale Tale spoiler, contrasting black stone guards and 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels which come wrapped in Continental tires. A truly timeless machine, this ’87 Carrera looks phenomenal on-road.
This Carrera sports a black partial leather interior which is stated to be in very solid condition bearing only minor signs of age-appropriate wear, mainly on the driver’s seat. Factory options consist of a sunroof, steering wheel with elevated hub, Sports Shock Absorbers and Automatic Speed Control. A fire extinguisher has been installed for display along with an upgraded steering wheel, however, the original steering wheel will be included in-sale. The sound system has been upgraded with a Blaupunkt Tokyo RDM 169 head unit that is in excellent working order along with all other electrical components, gauges and accessories. Clean and intact, this Carrera has been very well taken care of throughout the years.
Power comes from a fully rebuilt 3.2 L flat-six engine that is claimed to produce over 240 HP (+25 over stock). The rear wheels are driven by a highly desirable 5-speed G-50 manual transmission that offers consistent smooth shifts through all gears. New calipers and rotors all around help this Carrera to stop on a dime while the factory equipped Sports Shocks provide for a smooth and nimble ride. The engine rebuild was carried out in December of 2017 to a tune of over $25k; some notable work performed during this time includes:

- Fully Rebuilt Cylinder Heads w/ New Valves
- Polished Crankshaft
- All New Bearings and Chains
- Rebuilt Fuel Injectors
- 964 Cam Upgrade

Detailed maintenance records and invoices for the work performed will be included in sale. Having had nearly all of its internals completely gone through and replaced, this Carrera is reported to run and drive beautifully at this time without any complications.

@jh986s my sincere apologies, I Missed this comment. The transmission shifts flawlessly. When the major engine work was done the shifter bushings as well as the clutch were replaced.

@OneTrueCarGuy this is a truly solid and rust-free specimen. There is no issue that I or my mechanic can see regarding oil pressure. I cannot stress enough that this engine was recently just completely overhauled to a very high and meticulous standard. PPI's are welcome. Compression test results will be added to the listing today.

Look like lots of oil pressure during the driving video. Unusual color as well. Any rust issues being a "Jersey" car? I'm looking for a "driver quality" 911 to enjoy all the time. Living in Atlanta, cars down here stay "pristine" because of smooth roads and virtually no winters. Thanks, Roy

@Mrosilio hello and thanks for the questions. I had no need to do a compression test since the motor was just completely rebuilt. It takes little effort for me to do so I will have one done over the weekend and ask PCAR to post the results for you.
The shifter bushings are new and the alternator was replaced.
The valves are new! so no adjustment necessary
The A/C was converted

@HowS @Dipper17 hi, the records are in the photo gallery showing the work done including the 964 cams. It was done by Carrera Car Shop/CCS Motors in NY. The paintwork was done before my time so I wouldn't be able to accurately tell you any info however, I can tell you that the car shows very nice with no unsightly paint defects or evidence of poor work. I will let PCARMARKET know about the VIn and it should be remedied shortly. Thanks for your interest.
What shop did the rebuild, when was it done? Any paperwork showing the 964 cams or other upgrades? Are those the original suspension parts, bushings, shocks, struts, tie rods? Who did the paint work?
