Equipped with a more powerful engine and a new 5-speed G50 manual gearbox for the 1987 model year, this Carrera Coupe was factory finished in Cassis Red Metallic, a rare and especially desirable color when paired with its stunning Burgundy interior. The car is said to have received a full steel Slant Nose body conversion from Bavarian Coach Werkes when new and features a set of custom 3-piece wheels as well as a factory-optioned limited-slip differential. With approximately 40k miles on the odometer, this striking 1987 Carrera is now being offered for auction accompanied by a lifetime of service records.
Upon delivery when new, the car is said to have been fitted with a full steel Slant Nose body conversion from Bavarian Coach Werkes including widened fenders with rear side air intakes, boxed rocker panels, a Turbo “Tea Tray” rear spoiler, front valence with integrated fog lights, and flat front fenders with vent louvers and pop-up headlamps. The body conversion parts were painted to match the car’s original Cassis Red Metallic color and the seller describes the finish to remain in very good condition. This 911 rides on a set of custom 16” Epsilon/Southern Ways 3-piece wheels dressed in newer GRS Max tires. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Providing one of the most desirable air-cooled Porsche color combinations, the cabin of this 911 features Burgundy partial leather upholstery with matching carpets. The footwells are lined with custom tan Coco mats, a modern Continental radio has been installed, and a serialized designation plaque is affixed above the glovebox stating the car was custom built for its owner by Bavarian Coach Werkes. Factory equipment includes an elevated steering wheel hub, cruise control, a sunroof, and an alarm.
An air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 217 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed G50 manual transmission and an optional limited-slip differential. Recent service is said to have included A/C system maintenance, a new A/C condenser fan motor, DME relay replacement, and fresh fluids. Additional service records are said to date back to the car’s original purchase.
This sale will include a clean title.

@mdavidson yes it is the same car. I purchased it here on pcar. Pains me to sell it, but my grail came up and I pulled the trigger (993rs cs), so unfortunately am selling this. Absolutely love this car, and she’s very well sorted, runs perfectly.

I love these and owned an SC conversion for a bit. Too bad about the square headlight and the lack of jack plugs in front of the the rear tires on the side skirts. As well, I like to see a photo of the entire frunk. A lot of re-configuring has to go on in there during the conversion--water reservoir, etc.

Cassis red is one of my favorite period colors from Porsche. This looks like a well done conversion. The rectangle lights are a bummer but those period correct wheels are very cool too. GLWA.

@ZUFFWERKS That is correct, typo on our end earlier today. This is a Bavarian Coach Works car and the plaque is located on the dash on the passenger side. Please refer to the photo gallery.
@ASGMiami this is a period correct slant nose conversion by Bavarian Coach Werkes. Clay Doppke’s shop also built race prepped 935 slant nose conversions like the “banana slugger”

This looks like a really nice example in a rare color with a quality conversion. Aftermarket slant noses don't often do well, it will be interesting to see how this one does. GLWTS.

The plaque on the glove compartment door is the company that modified the car to a slantnose. Bavarian Coach Werkes was owned by the late Clay Doppke who passed away a number of years ago. His conversions were among the best in the world and closely mimicked what Porsche did at their Werk I facility in Zuffenhausen, Germany. His conversions were very expensive, but the quality of his workmanship and attention to detail was excellent. Alan Johnson Racing's conversions used Porsche factory parts in their conversions.....round headlights and headlight drive mechanisms, etc.
