The 1987 model year saw the introduction of an updated Porsche 911 Carrera featuring a more powerful 3.2-liter flat-six engine and a new 5-speed G50 manual transaxle. This 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa is finished in Guards Red over a black leather interior featuring rare Porsche script cloth seat centers. It comes equipped with a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a removable black roof panel, air conditioning, cruise control, a Blaupunkt Reno SQR 46 radio, fog lights, and 15” Fuchs forged alloy wheels. Cared for by the original owner in 2022, it was purchased by the seller out of California in 2024 and is now being offered for auction in New York with just over 9k miles showing on the odometer.

This 911 is finished in traditional Guards Red (L80K) with a black Targa bar and removable vinyl-covered roof panel. Equipment includes integrated front fog lights, heated and power-adjustable mirrors, a rear window defroster, and 15” Fuchs forged alloy wheels with colored Porsche crest center caps. The seller notes several body panels show slightly higher paint meter readings than OEM specifications, although the exterior remains in excellent overall condition. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The black interior features Porsche script cloth seat centers, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a four-spoke leather steering wheel, power windows, air conditioning, cruise control, an analog quartz clock, and a factory Blaupunkt Reno SQR 46 radio. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional, and the cabin is described to be in pristine condition.

The air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 217 HP and 195 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed G50 manual transaxle. Some maintenance records are available from previous ownership and the seller states the car will undergo a full service before the next owner takes delivery.

This sale will include a Porsche Production Specifications Certificate, a spare tire, a tire inflator, a car cover, and a clean title.

Happy New Year all! Less than 24 hours to go on the 9,000 original mile targa. Who’s going to be going home with a like new condition air cooled targa in 2025?!

  • Silver930 (registered bidder) 1 month, 1 weekago

This targa is stunning those seats with the cloth inserts with script are to die for only thing better would have been Sport seats with that option Wow.
One that and maybe its pictured below but I did not see is the 1987 cars have Vin sticker on all panels front to back. Front fenders you can get under with doors open and see them if you look up under. Tail, hood, doors all have them as well as bumpers I believe.

    I like the 15" 7 and 8 Fuchs option.
I believe 1987 was the last year for those from the factory.

    Amazing museum gbody here.

We will check on the A/C if It has been converted and Ofcourse, any single stage paint will transfer after applying compound and a pad.

2 targa top removal tools included.

Any discrepancies in meter readings we believe to only have been for cosmetic purposes - there is no damage anywhere on the underside that is present. Any explanation for the exceptionally low mileage?

What, if any, information can you provide to explain the discrepancy in paint level readings/deviation from factory original? As an aside, since CarFax only presents information from those who report to them, it's best to run the VIN past your insurance company since they access a central information system which will show any claims associated with that VIN. Have you done that? And what did you find? I presume that might explain the errant paint readings. GLWTA!!

If you know, please, how did this vehicle make it from Beverlu Hills Car Club (per CarFax) to you? Also, with such lack of operation, what was/has been done to "recommission" it for being driven?

  • Babydriver (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

Hi Seller - are you the person who bought it from the bringatrailer auction in August? Anything you can point out for the reason for sale?

  • Sunvalley (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

what is reason for low odometer reading? does this match carfax or does it need adjusting to match, maybe its had new gear fitted? does A/C work well, has it been converted, does it have original compressor/hoses and evaporator? when detailing it does single stage paint transfer to buffer from all panels or are some base/clearcoat?
what history comes with car, can you upload images? Im interested but there's a lot of detail missing for me. Does it have targa tool for removal, is dash/door cards 100%crack free? sorry for all the questions but they are essential for an informed purchase. Thanks in advance
