Up for auction is this 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa finished in Grand Prix White. Marking the inaugural model year for the desirable G50 5-speed manual transmission, this 1987 Targa was acquired from its prior owner out of California about two years ago and has since undergone a major engine overhaul along with service of the transmission, brakes, electrical system, and suspension. The interior has also been recently reupholstered in custom brown leather. This classic air-cooled Targa is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas.
This Carrera was ordered in Grand Prix White and features a black Targa band, integrated front fog lights, rear fender stone guards, factory 15” Fuchs wheels, and a Turbo-style Tea Tray rear spoiler. The hood has been previously refinished, and the exterior is described to be in good condition overall. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing fire damage in the engine/wheel area to have occurred in 1996.
Under the seller’s care, the seats have been reupholstered in brown leather with matching carpets, door panels, a center console, shift boot, and leather-edged floormats. Factory equipment includes a central locking system, full power-operated seats, a steering wheel with raised hub, cruise control, and air conditioning. An updated Blaupunkt Florida RD 168 radio has been installed along with upgraded speakers in the doors and rear shelf. The seller has performed repairs to the electrical system and reports all gauges and accessories to be working properly. The odometer currently reads just over 68k miles, although a branded title was issued by the state of Illinois in 1995 for a mileage discrepancy as detailed on CARFAX.
This Carrera is equipped with an air-cooled 3.2L flat-six engine that sends as much as 217 HP and 195 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a G50 5-speed manual transmission. Upon the seller's acquisition about two years ago, the engine was removed and overhauled with new pistons, rings, and gaskets. The G50 gearbox is also said to have been serviced during this time along with the brakes and suspension.
This sale will include owner's manuals, a spare tire, a Porsche Production Specifications certificate, and a clean Texas title. For any air-cooled driving enthusiast in search of a classic 911 Targa, this G50-equipped Carrera is not to be overlooked.

@JoeUofT Hi Joe , we install a usted odometer because the original don’t work well ,we try to fix two times the original and don’t work , the car have 134,000 K miles in the odometer when we buy from California and also have a note on the CARFAX of odometer on5/23/ 1995 the car show 26,400 and before 02/11/1995 58,000 the car is exempt miles now , whit the new engine parts the car only have 700 Miles
What is the story behind the odometer? I found a listing where this was for sale just a few years ago and the ODO showed 134,500. Why and when did it get changed, replaced or rolled back? Thank you.

@Setter1504 yes We remove the engine & transmission, new transmission gasket set & oil on the engine new valve guides, cylinder head bolts, cylinder head nuts , cylinder head washer , machine shop service , engine gaskets , oil & oil filter , spark plugs , oil level sender gasket , new ac compressor , belt
