We are pleased to offer this 1987 Porsche 930 Turbo finished in Guards Red over a black partial leather interior.  This 1987 example was purchased new from Pensacola Imports of Florida by the original owner in Tenessee as he reportedly could not find one in his local area. Having spent its life in Chattanooga ever since, the car has been driven just over 15k miles from new and comes accompanied by the original books, tools, documentation, window sticker, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.  A perfect addition to any world-class Porsche collection, this beautifully preserved one-owner Turbo is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Tennessee.

The traditional Guards Red finish on this 930 is described to be in excellent original condition aside from a small defect on the front edge of the passenger-side hood.  The underbody is also noted to retain much of its original cosmoline coating, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.  The 930 is characterized by its wide fenders, front air dam, and distinctive Tea Tray rear spoiler.  This example rides on factory 16” Fuchs wheels that come dressed in a set of Fuzion ZRi tires.

Inside, this Turbo features a black partial leather interior with an electric sliding sunroof, power-adjustable driver’s seat, alarm system, and an original Blaupunkt Reno radio.  The cabin is noted to have been very well kept throughout the years and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be fully functional including the A/C.

The air-cooled 3.3L turbocharged flat-six engine is paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox that sends as much as 282 HP and 289 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels.  Service records have been kept from new showing items throughout the years including a valve adjustment, cleaning of the fuel tank, replacement of the starter, and routine fluid and filter changes.  Detailed images of the undercarriage are provided for reference in the photo gallery.

This sale will include two original keys sets with leather pouches, the original owner’s manuals, warranty book, toolkit, an air compressor, service records, original purchase documentation, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and the original owner’s title.  A true time capsule of a car offered in its most iconic configuration, this one-owner 930 makes an excellent choice for any avid Porsche collector.

@tampagarage Good afternoon. I do not believe there is an oil leak there. There is an exceedingly light film of oil or cosmoline on that section and over the years the dust that has settled on it creates those dark spots. You could wipe it off with a cloth. Remember we have done no cleaning on this engine. This is a true time capsule and not a car that has been cleaned, polished and detailed.

Since it has covered barely more than 15,000 mi since it left the factory it's never had any services due other than oil change and valve clearance check.

The engine has never been out of the car to the best of my knowledge.

Looks like there is oil in pic 116. Do you know where this leak is coming from and when the last time the engine was serviced and what was done?

@MezgerTT I will try to get an better picture of it. It is very minor. I did not even notice it until a few days after I bought the car. It is not a scratch, it is not a blister, it is not a fisheye but little imperfections. Something just did not react perfectly in this one tiny spot on the hood. With any other vehicle I would not even bother to mention this. I want to make sure when someone buys a nearly new car in this price range that I mentioned these things.

  • MezgerTT (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@drivenmanmotors Thank you for adding picture 192. Due to the light reflecting on the hood, it’s hard to tell where the blemish is that you see. Is it a small chip, a dent, a paint blister …or maybe someone can circle on the picture the area where the blemish is located? Thank you.

@drivenmanmotors Thank you. Must be very minor as I can’t see anything in picture 165 or 167.

  • MezgerTT (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@drivenmanmotors Thank you. Certainly within normal limits. I appreciate you checking.

  • drivenmanmotors (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@MezgerTT ... images 165 and 167 show the blem area, but it's so minor you cannot discern them in those images. Another image should be up soon

  • drivenmanmotors (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

    @MezgerTT Good morning!

I just checked it again and yes - the paint meter absolutely does show more paint there, BUT I do not see any signs of any additional paintwork. There is ZERO overspray, fish eye, change in paint texture, etc. … I guess this is before robots started painting cars????

The small blem in the paint on the front right corner of the hood is very hard to see in a picture. The area is already shown in the photo section, but you only see the blem when the light hits it just right. I just took another shot where I was able to position a reflection of the ceiling on the affected area, and you can just make a few little uneven spots by looking at the distortion in the reflection. Hopefully the crew at PCar can post that image today.

As always I will be happy to accommodate an in person inspection before the bidding closes.

@drivenmanmotors Beautiful car and rare to see a 930 stay in the hands of 1 owner so long. Do you have a picture of the small defect in the hood you reference in the description. Also, it appears the the driver’s rear 1/4 panel is reading 190 um or about 7.5 mil and the rest of the car is reading 130 -160 um 4-5 mil. That said, does it appear that the quarter panel has had any paintwork (tape lines, dry overspray, color match issues, fish eye, dirt in paint, or orange peel inconsistent with rest of car, etc). Could be just an anomaly but usually paint meter readings are in the 4-6 mil range on these cars. May be nothing but a discriminating eye would be able to see a difference in surface texture on a painted panel. Curious what you see. Thanks.

@Revemup1 The car was based in the Chattanooga area from day one until we acquired it. It is now in our showroom in Cookeville, Tennessee. Personal viewings are welcome. Please call or email to schedule an appointment.

  • Revemup1 (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Is the car located in Cookeville or Chattanooga, and do you allow personal viewings?
