We are pleased to offer this 1987 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe finished in Black over a black leather interior.  This 930 was delivered to its original owner in New York equipped with optional leather Sport Seats. The car made its way to California in 2014 and was recently acquired by the seller out of Florida.  Having previously undergone a transmission rebuild and major engine overhaul, this iconic 911 Turbo is now being offered for auction showing just over 68k miles on the odometer.

This Turbo comes finished in nonmetallic Black paint and features wide fenders, classic 16” Fuchs wheels, and a distinctive “tea tray” rear spoiler.  Other equipment includes a front valence with a chin spoiler and integrated fog lights, a rear window wiper, periscope-style third brake light, and U.S. market bumperettes.  The seller notes a multi-stage paint correction has been recently completed and describes some stone chipping to the front end and mirror covers. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The black leather interior features a set of optional power-operated Sport Seats as well as an upgraded 930S three-spoke steering wheel, aluminum shift knob, and stainless-steel "Turbo" script door sills.  Factory features include power windows and door locks, an electric sunroof, air-conditioning, and cruise control.  The radio has been deleted with a coverup plate and the seller notes a few small cracks in the headliner near the sunroof.  All gauges and accessories are said to be working properly.

The turbocharged and intercooled 3.3L flat-six engine produces as much as 282 HP and 289 lb.-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission.  The seller reports the transmission was rebuilt with new synchros in 2002 followed by a major engine-out service in 2005 with all new seals, oil and fuel lines, a rebuilt turbocharger, and overhauls of the ignition and fuel systems.  The seller believes the turbocharger may have also been upgraded during this time.

This sale will include a toolkit and a clean title. Now is your chance to become the next owner of this classic 930 Turbo, do not miss out.

@KitChaos I took a picture of the options sticker under the hood but I don't want you to have to wait for it to get posted to the auction, so here is the info on that sticker:
    Type: 930 780
    Engine Code/Trans Code: L700 LE
    Paint No/Interior: C02 018 158 220 383
    Options: 387 533 650
The dash is in great condition. It is not peeling, warped, or cracked anywhere. One the body, there is no rust around the windshield, wiper cowl, sunroof, door sills, or anywhere else. Picture 70 on the dash - there is a little bit of brown glue residue is you look super close, but it is not rust. To the best of my knowledge, the sport seats are original to the car. I don't have a leak down or compression test, but the engine starts right up, runs very smooth, does not smoke, and pulls hard exactly like it should. I actually asked the mechanic to perform those tests while he had the car last week, and he said there is no reason to as he said this is a very healthy and strong engine. I do not have the factory radio as it was removed by the previous owner. All stereo wiring appears in place if you wanted to add one back in. Personally, I never listed to the radio while I drive so it don't bother me.

Can you get a closer picture of Options Sticker under hood (pic 88)?
Pic 41, is dashboard cracking, peeling back?
Any rust issues, sunroof, windshield, door sills, i.e.
pic 66 front of wind deflector? pic 70 above AC vent area
    Sport Seats original with car?
Any compression or leak down tests since engine out service or when turbo rebuilt?
Radio deleted from factory, or removed from prior owner? Have original radio?

I have uploaded 12 new photos to Pcar so they should be posted later today or worst case on Monday. They include a clear shot of the turbo, which is stamped KOKELN, leading me to believe it is an upgraded K27. Also, tucked above the muffler and immediately following the turbo is what clearly appears to be the catalytic converter in place. I took a few more shots of the engine while I had it up on my lift again. I also included a picture of the recent invoice for the work performed last week. I just drove the car home with the air conditioning blowing nice and cold, and it is 85 degrees today here in Sarasota Florida. I also included pictures of the previous service invoices, owners manuals, and tire compressor, all of which I am trying to track down from the previous owner. If I can obtain them, they will be included in the sale.

@Tuttebenne The turbo was rebuild along with full engine reseal including head gaskets and crankcase gaskets in 2005, so it was a complete engine reseal with an $11,000 bill.

  • Pedigree (seller) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@pillion77 I believe that is for a radar detector.

  • StandingPedals (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

@pillion77 Looks like a built in gauge for an Escort radar detector

  • pillion77 (registered bidder) 2 years, 2 monthsago

HI there..on photo 79, there is an extra light and rectangle gauge that was obviously cut and placed in there. What are those for?

    Thanks!

  • Tuttebenne 2 years, 2 monthsago

Please clarify what was done to the engine. Was it overhauled or simply the major service both mentioned in the listing?

looking at the rear valance, it is cut out on both sides. obviously, it had a aftermarket dual exhaust at some point. can you comment on this? is the cat which is mounted behind the stock exhaust muffler present? thanks

@sportscarguy3 Windows are tinted. Also just spend about $3000 this week going through it and addressing any little issues. She is ready for a proud new owner.

@KitChaos great questions. I am very close friends with the owner of Naples Motorsports (Todd). I sourced the car and bought it through his dealership, so his dealership will be facilitating the transaction on my behalf. Todd and I have done many car deals together. I shipped the car in from California and had some maintenance and a paint correction done, and ultimately decided I want to keep the other cars I have and I am straight up out of room. These are first world problems for sure but I don't want to part with my 911SC, 997.2 GT3, '73 2.7L RS Tribute, Cayman R, R8 V10 6spd spyder, XK120 DHC, and a couple other toys. I did put a paint meter on the car. The entire car is 3.5 to 5.5, with the exception of the doors which are closer to 8. I can't find any signs of prior paint on the doors and I have a keen eye for paintwork. Not sure if it left the factory that way or if they were repainted at one point, but they match the rest of the car perfectly. Regarding the records, I saw pictures of the invoices from the previous owner and verified them with a dealer who had the car in their inventory around 2018, but I don't have the hard copies, although I am actively trying to get my hands on them. Ultimately, PcarMarket had the availability to get the car listed now so I pulled the trigger on listing it instead of waiting. Hope that helps!

Did you purchase from Naples Motorsports Jan 2022? Can you upload the service records/receipts of the major overhaul? Paint thickness readings? Thank you.

Hi Pcar community, I'm the seller of this Turbo. I am available to answer any questions you may have. Couple things that come to mind off the bat... I'm only selling this car because I have four other Porsches and a few more non-Porsche sports cars as well. I simply don't have time to enjoy them all so I am thinning the herd a little. I have the car getting a PPI and any necessary service performed right now at a local air cooled specialist just as added peace of mind to the upcoming buyer. This is a great car that begs to be driven and enjoyed, with all the look, feel, and exhilaration you'd expect of this vintage Porsche. Let's get it SOLD! :-)
