Originally created by special request through Porsche's Sonderwunsch-Programm, the Slant Nose or Flachbau body was officially offered from the factory beginning in 1987 as a $23,244 extra-cost option. Designated by option code M505, this 930 Turbo Coupe is believed to be one of 625 Slat Nose cars produced for the U.S. market and comes finished in Guards Red over a Champagne Special Leather interior with Sport Seats and deviated piping. Accompanied by a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this rare 911 Turbo Slant Nose is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Kentucky showing approximately 115k miles on the odometer.

This 911 Turbo was ordered in Guards Red and features factory-handcrafted steel fenders with pop-up headlights along with unique boxed rocker panels and rear fenders with integrated air intakes as part of the Slant Nose option. Black-finished brake calipers can be seen behind a set of aftermarket 993-style multipiece wheels with colored Porsche center crests. The seller notes minor paint imperfections and a rub mark on the passenger front corner. The CARFAX report indicates damage in 2001, although the seller states no evidence of damage is present. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.

The cabin is appointed with black and Champagne Special Leather including Sport Seats with deviated piping. The exclusive leather center console houses an analog clock, temperature dial, heater control, and a CD storage compartment. Options listed on the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity include an electric sliding sunroof and power-adjustable left and right seats with lumbar support. The seller notes that the factory air conditioning unit is currently inoperable, and some signs of wear are present.

This 930 is equipped with an air-cooled 3.3-liter turbocharged flat-six engine that generates up to 282 HP and 289 lb.-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual transmission and a factory-optioned limited-slip differential. A performance air intake has been installed and the seller believes an aftermarket turbo timer system has been integrated as well. The seller believes a service may be required as smoke emits from the car upon cold startup and continues to show light traces of smoke while running.

This sale will include a clean title, original owner's manuals, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

    @Warpig Thanks for reassuring me regarding the authenticity of the car. I appreciate you coming forth with that info. I've talked to the owner who certainly is a standup gentleman also and I'm looking forward to being the next caretaker of this fine piece of Porsche history. To be honest I'm a bit humbled. Thanks again

    @jamride agree with the "nuts and bolts", but having done one (gulp) its always more than expected I literally spent 100k in a blink when my budget was 60k. Love this car (full stop) its just about the balance of the work, $$$ etc... v picking up a done example.

    @Warpig Agreed! I'm just glad it's not a Ferrari! I've had more than my fair share in that market.

  • RGC (seller) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    @RGC I posted a picture in the gallery

  • Warpig (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    @jamride take it from me, I have learned hard lessons, a sympathetic on this car will be 70,000, you already know that, nuts and bolts will be 250,000, unfortunately if you spend the money on the nuts and bolts you will never drive it!!!!!!!

  • jamride (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    @Warpig Lol , obviously it has to be bought at a number that would justify such work. Otherwise it makes more sense to purchase a cleaner lower mile example. Plenty of time left as I'm sure everyone is aware.

    @jamride Damm.... $$$$$

  • jamride (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    @Warpig Personally I would do a nuts and bolt. I think the car is special enough and deserves it!

  • Warpig (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    @jamride Which are you thinking ??? Sympathetic ,? or nuts and bolts ? (Off body)???

  • jamride (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    @Warpig I absolutely agree in that the car really needs to be brought back to its former glory! And I concur with the financial assessment that it will not come cheaply

  • Warpig (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    Beautiful car with great potential!!!, I hope whoever wins the bid is prepared to bring it back to its former glory. That being said, I also hope they fully understand, tremendous financial outlay that it will take to do so ....,or when they do find out we will see it back here on PCAR a week later..... It would be a shame if this car were to just sit and languish......

    @RGC Thanks for researching this

  • RGC (seller) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    @jamride upon research I found a contact at Porsche to request confirmation that this is true factory Slantnose and that the certificate is legitimate. I’ve attached copies of the email from Porsche to the gallery

  • RGC (seller) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    Additional content has been added to the gallery for this listing.

  • RGC (seller) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    @Warpig there’s a radiator/oil cooler on the passenger side, behind the intake . I’ll try to get a picture now

  • Warpig (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    @jamride @jamride, in my opinion, not much weight ,Everyone out to "get over" having the radiators in the right place is a good start.... It would be very expensive ,and counter intuitive to move the radiators to the rear in order to present a "Deep Fake", (and I have seen almost everything)...

  • jamride (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    @warpig How much merit does the Certificate from Porsche bring to the table? I imagine they are easily faked. This car looks like it has a lot of potential.

  • Warpig (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    @jamride I thought I saw it, but the picture was not very clear, it did indeed look like the radiator, ..... FYI.... because of the angle on slant nose at the front, the engineers at Porsche decided to put the radiators ins the intakes, usually they are in the front fender, but they did not fit on the slants. Everyone tries to pass off their aftermarket kits as true slants, ....Go figure the radiator fits in the front on the kit cars!!! Not original true slants.... Thanks,

  • jamride (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    @warpig Is that a radiator showing in pic 46? Are they supposed to be behind both vents? I dont see them on the drivers side.

  • Warpig (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    Can you take a picture showing the radiators? on this car they should be inside the rear vents,. , these are intakes directly in front of the rear wheel . If you can't upload a picture, can you please confirm that that's where they are located.... only original slant noses have them , it is the true litmus ...... Thanks,

    @Cgt000 pretty spot on.

  • MylesP (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    @brennerf - I am an active bidder on this car and under no allusion that this needs an engine, gearbox and interior out full restoration (top to bottom), etc... But hey it's a great car to do it on.

  • jamride (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    @RGC can you give any insight as the accident listed on the carfax? I know because of the circumstances you may be unaware but curious as to the extent of damage incurred. Thanks in advance, sorry for your loss and glwta.

  • Cgt000 (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    @brennerf Look closely. So may stone chips every where. Also looks like the car was exposed to very strong sun with no protection. It looks orangish to me but could be the quality of the pictures.
    IMO, the Slantnose is the most beautiful iteration of the 911 model but this one needs a lot of work.

  • brennerf (registered bidder) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    @Cgt000 I am newer here and probably naive, I see the mechanical and interior issues but what are you seeing that tells you it needs paint? Just the general condition of the car ? Or something specific?

  • RGC (seller) 1 year, 2 monthsago

    Hello I'm Russ, thank all of you for your interest in Bob's car. This car was the pride and joy of my father-in-law (Bob). Unfortunately, we lost him and I've taken on the responsibility of selling it for the family. With only two days left in the auction I will be sure to make myself available to answer any questions that I can or facilitate the auction process to the best of my ability. Good luck and thanks again.

    no disrespect to the car, but this car needs a complete restoration from top to bottom. when you are done it is still a 115,000 mile chassis. it still has a certain value. just be careful not to overpay. all this work does not come cheap. at the right price this could be a good project.
