Up for auction is a custom Backdated 1987 Porsche 911 RSR.  This car was originally commissioned by a Porsche enthusiast who worked directly for Porsche North America in the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur dept. The task was to build a car that not only looked the part but also delivered outstanding execution in both performance and quality.  The seller states the car to be in excellent condition throughout and has only been driven a few thousand miles since completion.

The solid and rust free 1987 donor was originally shipped from North Carolina to Scuderia Eleven based out of Germany. The car was then completely disassembled and received a complete rotisserie restoration.  Steel RSR flares were welded to the rear and light weight FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) was used for the front fenders, hood and roof. Other lightweight materials were used for the bumpers and duck tail rear lid. The car is sitting on fuch-style wheels (15 x 9 in the front and 15 x 11 in the rear) that wear a set of brand new period correct Michelin TB tires. The seller made it very clear that there was much attention paid to the pre paint preparation process, resulting in the high-quality finish in the original RSR color of Gulf Orange (019).

The interior is incredibly clean, and purpose built as it should have been for this car.  A period correct reproduction set of sport seats with houndstooth pattern were fitted along with a new set of 3-point seat belts finished in a matching orange.  A Prototipo steering wheel has been installed in front of the soft covered dash top with a traditional stitched pattern, giving it a very clean look.  A brand-new set of proper Perlon carpets were also just added this month.  A unique option is the modern air-conditioning system that recently completed a fresh inspection and re-charge with R-134.

All switches, gauges and controls function as they should. Currently uninstalled, the car comes with a complete bolt in roll cage also painted in matching Gulf orange.  All studs are still in place under the new carpets if there is ever a decision for the roll cage to be added back into the car.

Power comes from the original 3.2L matching numbers engine that is mated to a manual G50 transmission.  During the build process, the engine was completely disassembled and then rebuilt from the heads up using 964 RSR Cams, new valve guides, new bearings, new seals and more.  A revised engine management system has been tuned for the car along with a custom exhaust system.  In addition, light weight FRP was also used for the fan shroud.  The G50 transmission was also rebuilt and mated to a WEVO shifter system giving the car a very precise feel between gears.

The braking system was upgraded using a restored set of 964 brakes in the front and restored set of Boxster brakes on the rear; both with stainless steel brake lines.  A custom brake bias has also been added with the control knob seen under the center of the dash to give the driver ultimate braking control.  A brand new set of Bilstein Sport Shocks are used giving the car increased handling and a more aggressive stance.

Upon completing the build, Scuderia Eleven had the RSR corner balanced which confirmed the weight at approx. 2300 lb. The car was then bought to the Nurburgring for testing, where it was said to truly meet every expectation.  Once tested and tuned, the RSR was shipped back to its owner in California.

There have been many articles written about this RSR on behalf its uniqueness.  Anyone who gets behind the wheel of this car, will immediately feel how special it is as they are transported back to 1973 when there was nothing on the road or track that compared to the Porsche 911 RSR.

The sale will include records, books, multiple keys and a clean Carfax. Please note: a mileage discrepancy prior to the build is present because of a typo, according to the seller.  Since the entire car has been rebuilt, it has no impact on the current car being offered.  The car is being sold with a clean title, 2 keys, and records of all work done.

Note to prospective California buyers: This car was compliant with California registration and smog certificate through September 2016 and could conceivably pass smog again as no changes have been made.

Pictures showing the car prior to purchase for the build, being shipped to the port and at the port have been added to the gallery.

@Slim_Chance Hello, thanks for responding. That is a very old add and in fact is the donor car that was used for this build. Please look in the gallery of photos and you will see one photo of the car in the add. The donor car was bought from this person in North Carolina back in 2014. This should clarify why the vin # is the same. I will be submitting 2 additional photos one of the car being transported and another picture of the rear of the car prior to shipping to Germany for the build.

@burnrubr Thanks for the interest and sorry for the delay in response. I sent one yesterday morning but it had my contact number in it and it was removed. The car is estimated to have around 250 hp. I would be happy to have you come by and see and drive the car. Please send a request through PCar and we can set it up. Thanks

@Bg57gt4 Thanks for your interest. Yes, fiberglass bumper panels. Gearbox is stock G50 ratios with a WEVO. Yes, bolt-in roll cage in matching orange, No heat, headers instead of heater boxes. Information we have from builder says engine was refreshed from the heads up to 930 specification with 964 RSR cams, revised engine management and custom exhaust. Power estimated around 250. New guides and seats were in installed as well as having the heads machined and new bearings and seals included.

Anyone who is local and would like to see the car, it is in our warehouse on Cokesbury Road in Lebanon, NJ. Just let me know when would work best.

Seller: I assume the “other” lightweight material for the front end is fiberglass? Is tranny geared stock or focused on track? Just to confirm, roll cage, not bar? Last, you state a/c was updated, does heat work? Also would like engine specs. Thanks, sharp looking build! GLWA

What's the approximate HP on this car? Just wondering after all those work and money invested I assumed the orig owner will keep it for life. I am from NJ so I might come and see this in person. OP, am I allowed to test drive?
