For the 1987 model year, Porsche’s flagship 928 grand touring car was updated as the 928 S4 version featuring a new 5.0-liter DOHC V8 engine and improved aerodynamic bodywork. This inaugural-year example is finished in Guards Red over a black leather interior and comes equipped with an optional 4-speed automatic transaxle, an electric sunroof, power-adjustable front seats, and aftermarket 18” Victor Equipment wheels. Having been thoroughly serviced in 2023, this 928 S4 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Nebraska with approximately 58k miles showing on the odometer.

Compared to earlier 928 models, the S4 featured a more rounded aerodynamic nose with integrated fog lights as well as a redesigned rear end with larger taillight assemblies and a raised black spoiler. This example came factory-finished in Guards Red and is equipped with optional body side protection moldings, a rear window wiper, an electric sunroof, a single exhaust outlet, pop-up headlamps, and Porsche-branded brake calipers. The car rides on aftermarket 18” Victor Equipment wheels finished in gloss black with Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport tires. The original 16” slotted aluminum wheels are also included in the sale. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The 2+2 interior is trimmed in black leather upholstery with matching carpets and power-operated front seats. Accessories include a leather-wrapped four-spoke steering wheel, Porsche-branded floor mats, power windows and mirrors, cruise control, automatic climate control, optional rear seat air conditioning, a central locking system, an alarm system, and an aftermarket Kenwood CD head unit. The seller notes the lower hatch receiver and passenger seat switch were replaced in 2023 and a tear is present at the bottom of the driver’s seat.

A fuel-injected 5.0-liter DOHC V8 engine delivers up to 316 HP and 317 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic transaxle. Stopping power comes from vented disc brakes at each corner and the suspension features stabilizer bars at the front and rear. Service in 2023 is said to have included replacements of the distributor cap and rotor, spark plugs, ignition wires, battery, air filter, fuel filter, and engine oil.

This sale will include the original 16” wheels, owner’s books, and a clean title.

From prior comments , it looks like you will replace the cam belts & water pump, prior to delivery. Is that correct?

@RockyS the services that I personally did are listed above. Serviced all things I could see that needed addressing. Which, wasn’t much. So I did all preventative tune up maintenance for piece of mind. As I told the others, I have verbal communication of the water pump and cam belt being done prior to my purchasing it. However, I do not have it on paper, so I cannot confirm. BUT I’m not opposed to doing them both for the winner of the auction. It’s not a huge deal for me to do if it’s of major concern. I’d like bidders to bid confidently, and receive an amazing car. I assure you, nobody will be disappointed on this one.

Has the cam belt and water pump replacement service been done along with your preventative services? All Porsche forums indicate to not drive one with over 40K miles especially if it is the original cam belt. Can you provide the service records you performed?

  • BombersGarage (seller) 1 month, 1 weekago

@resoom correct. I purchased it from another collector. Only driven for upkeep. Yes, the odometer works great. I believe you can see it in the videos. I could always take another video if needed.

  • Resoom 1 month, 1 weekago

Can you confirm that since 2014 it’s done 399 miles? Odometer is working?

  • BombersGarage (seller) 1 month, 2 weeksago

@Bankrep40 I acquired the car last year from another collector. There are some service records on the carfax from a reputable shop in Lincoln NE. When I purchased the car, I went through the majority of tune up with OE parts. However, the car already ran and performed great. It was preventative. I addressed all things I could see that needed attention, which wasn’t much.

  • BombersGarage (seller) 1 month, 2 weeksago

@Bankrep40 the dash is in great shape. Always in temperature controlled garage.

  • Bankrep40 (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

Do you have any service records to post. How long have you owned the car

  • Bankrep40 (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

    How’s the dash

@Bankrep40 to our knowledge the car has not been painted. There are pictures of the paint meter readings included in the post. Recent service (2023) includes replacing distributor cap and rotor, spark plugs, ignition wires, battery, air filter, fuel filter, and engine oil.

  • Bankrep40 (registered bidder) 1 month, 2 weeksago

Has the car been painted? Is there any recent Services’s

This was on Bring a Trailer and failed to reach reserve. Good comments on that site. Wish it were manual as I would have purchased the car.

  • Dubois 1 month, 2 weeksago

So a tear in lower driver’s seat is the only thing wrong with this 4 decade 928.
