Launched for the 1987 model year, the 928 S4 represented a major update for Porsche’s grand tourer with aerodynamically improved styling and a new 5.0-liter V8 engine with four-valves-per-cylinder. This inaugural year example is finished in Black over a Champagne leather interior and features an optional limited-slip differential paired with its 4-speed automatic transaxle. It is said to have remained with the original owner up until 2015 and benefits from previous timing belt and water pump replacements. Showing just under 95k miles, this 928 S4 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.

Compared to earlier versions, the updated 928 S4 featured a more rounded aerodynamic nose, side skirts, and a black polyurethane rear wing. This example comes finished in Black with optional body side moldings and factory 16” forged wheels. The car is said to have always been garage-kept and is described to be in very good cosmetic condition apart from minor chips on the driver’s side mirror. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is appointed with Champagne Beige leather and includes an optional electric sunroof, increased rear seat air conditioning, and a sound system with an additional amplifier. Other features include power windows and door locks, 8-way electric front seats, driver position memory, automatic climate control, a digital clock, a rear window wiper, and cruise control. An aftermarket Sony radio has been installed and a small tear is noted on the sunroof cover. The seller states the A/C system needs to be recharged and reports that the odometer just recently failed, although the speedometer remains fully functional along with all other gauges and accessories. There has been no reported mileage added since the odometer failure.

The 928 S4 features a 5.0-liter V8 with dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. Up to 320 HP and 317 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic transaxle and an optional limited-slip differential. Service under previous ownership is said to include the replacement of the timing belt, water pump, brake master cylinder, and steering rack bushings. A new battery has also been recently installed.

This sale will include a clean title.

@oldkar1 Your car looks amazing and looks well taken care of. A couple I have looked at had some dents from where people tried to lift it in the wrong place. I am sure yours is fine, would just feel more comfortable seeing it before bidding (unless you can guarentee its ok)?

  • oldkar1 (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

    @Macfly NOT A LEAK

  • Gofast (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

Can the car be seen in person, where is it located?

  • Macfly (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

It always amazes me when people claim and believe AC repair is "just a charge" That is never true, not ever, can't be. AC systems are not designed to leak over time. It has a leak. The concern is where is the leak.

  • oldkar1 (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@smondello70 I WOULD HAVE TO GET SOME , NDERNEATH IS STILL LIKE NEW!!!!!, NO RUSRT ANYWHERE

  • smondello70 (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

Wondering if you have pics of the front frame rails? Thanks

  • oldkar1 (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@EricWMS NO CRACKS, HOOD SHOCKS STILL GREAT, THERE ARE NO DRIPS OR LEAKS

  • EricWMS (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

Does it drip any fluids at all? And do the hatch struts support the hatch still, or does it need to be held open? Any dash cracks not shown? Any chance to get a video accelerating and breaking? Not hard, just up and down a bit? Thanks!

  • oldkar1 (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@02chuck GOOD MORNING, THE TIMING BELT AND WATER PUMP WAS DONE IN 2015 ABOUT 2800 MILES AGO. ALSO THE MASTER CYLINDER, AND STEERING RACK BUSHINGS WERE ALSO DONE. THE A/C IS A CHARGE IF YOU CAN GET R112, OR CONVERT IT TO 134. I LIKE TO LEAVE THINGS ORIGINAL.

  • oldkar1 (seller) 1 year, 5 monthsago

@buccicone it's $24.50 FOR THE PART AND $105 FOR THE LABOR. i JUST NOTICED IT AND WANTED TO BE HONEST. I GO BACK AND FORTH TO FLORIDA AND I FIGURED I WOULD FIX IT IN THE SPRING WHEN I GET BACK. REALLY NOT A BIG DEAL.

  • 02chuck 1 year, 5 monthsago

Since you acquired the car in 2015 has the timing belt been changed? From your records when was it last changed? Sorry just had to ask. Odometer is not a big deal and fixing the A/C could be just getting it evacuated and charged.

  • buccicone (registered bidder) 1 year, 5 monthsago

It amazes me why owners of the 928’s do repair the odometers. Part is cheap but labor is $$$. I always never trust the mileage on any 928.

FROM MY WAREHOUSE TO MY HOUSE 3 MINUTES AWAY. YOU CAN SEE ON THE CARFAX THE MILES ALL ARE IN ORDER. I HAVE 35 CARS I PUT LIKE NO MILES ON THEM. I START THEM ALL THE TIME AND LET THEM RUN. SPEEDO WORKS. I ASKED AROUND AND LOOKED AT FORUMS. EASY FIX. This is the gear that breaks when you reset your odometer while the car is moving. If your odometer is not working, a broken odometer gear is likely the culprit THATS EXACTLY WHAT I DID. ITS $24.50 FOR THE GEAR. OG-944L20x21 Odometer Gear - 20x21
    $24.50
    OG-944L20x22 Odometer Gear - 20x22

Gorgeous car. Head scratcher question: If there's been no mileage added since the odometer failure, how would you know that it failed???

Could you post some close-ups of any interior flaws as well as the door sills on both sides? Thanks and GLWTA!
