Finished in black over a burgundy interior, this 1987 Porsche 944 came factory-optioned with a power sunroof as well as leather-trimmed seats. This one-family-owned car is said to have always been garaged-kept and was completely refinished in its original paint color several years ago. With recent services and an inspection report, this Porsche 944 is now being offered for auction at no reserve by its second owner out of North Carolina.
This 944 is finished in black with an aftermarket rear valence and rides factory 16” flat-dish alloy wheels which are wrapped in 2012 Goodyear tires. The car is said to have been completely refinished in 2017 and noted imperfections include lower front bumper scuffs, a taped left rear side light, and paint cracks near the driver’s side keyhole. This 944 is said to have sustained damage to the driver's side door roughly two years ago which has since been repaired. Detailed images are provided in the gallery.
Inside, burgundy leather covers the original bucket seats. As part of the mid-year 1985 update, the 944 received a new interior featuring a redesigned dashboard with larger air vents, revised switches, new HVAC controls, and an enclosed instrument cluster with four round dials. This 944 comes factory equipped with a power-adjustable driver's seat, power steering, power brakes, power windows, and an electric tilting sunroof. A noted interior modification is a modern stereo replacement with CD and AUX input. Some cracks and fades are noted on the dash and seats. The odometer and rear wiper switch are not working and the fuel gauge is said to be intermittently inaccurate. While this 944 shows 26.8k miles on the odometer, the seller notes that the odometer is not working and estimates that it has closer to 38k miles.
The 944 is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine which was updated with redesigned combustion chambers and modified cam profiles for the second phase of 944 production. Approximately 150 HP is delivered to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transaxle. Noted service includes the replacement of the fuel pump and front wheel bearings in 2013, the refreshments to all major belts and ignition wires in 2014, and new brake pads and a lower radiator hose in 2015. Additionally, the power steering sensor was replaced in 2019, the alternator and drive belts were replaced in 2021, and the starter was replaced in 2023. An AC compressor/conversion for R-134A fluid is needed on this 944. A recent inspection report is included in the photo gallery.
This sale will include some documentation, a window sticker, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, and a car cover.

@GreysonM ...thanks for considering. Never had any work done on the clutch but still feels fine to me and I still love driving that little car, so it's hard to give it up.

How does the clutch feel? I know the original clutches used a rubber dampener that degrades after all these years.

Is there still a dent in drivers front quarter panel close to the alarm lock ? I see scratches ...hard to make out . Cruse control work ?
@BScifers ...thanks for your inquiry. I got side-swiped by a hit and run who dented the driver door so had to have body shop completely replace/repaint a door he located. I decided to sell the car after that 2021 inspection 'as is' rather than put more money in to it, so nothing on that list has been done except recently replaced starter. Does need new tires as well.
@Merlinextralight ...a reasonable question and the explanation is my dad rarely drove the car and mostly kept it in storage after 2004 until I finally convinced him to give it to me in 2013. That's when I noticed the odometer didn't work but never got it fixed because I didn't plan on selling it. So I estimate current miles by how much I drove it since then. Wasn't my main car, just occasional fun car, but guess I was rough on the driver seat.

Sorry if I missed this in the listing somewhere, but would you please describe/identify the accident and subject repairs made? I presume the tires are old as well, so pictures of them would be nice if you're unsure of their age (there's a "for digit number" usually that will identify the month and year of manufacture). Were repairs made to the items noted in the September 2021 inspection? Are there any active leaks or other known issues, to the best of your knowledge (for out of state buyers that may want to fly in, drive home)? Thanks in advance!
So, I’m curious about the estimated mileage of 38,000. The car had almost 26,000 in 2004. That would mean it was only driven n average of 700 miles a year for the next 19 years
The wear on the driver’s seat appears to be way above what would be expected in 38000 miles

Happy Spring and welcome to my first auction on the PCarmarket platform. Excited to offer this family heirloom to connoisseurs who appreciate it for the unique car it is. Kinda sad to let it go because my dad left it to me as his little trophy he won in a Boys Club charity auction back in '88. He was a more of a Lincoln Town Car kinda guy so her never drove it much and hence the low miles. I'm not a mechanic but will try to answer all questions as best I can.
