Produced from 1982 to 1991, the Porsche 944 stands out for its front-mounted four-cylinder engine and balanced driving dynamics. This 1987 example comes finished in Black over a burgundy interior and features a power sunroof. Garage-stored and extensively serviced since the seller’s acquisition in April 2023, this 944 is now being offered for auction out of Florida.

This example is said to have been refinished in its factory shade of Black under previous ownership in 2017. Modifications include an aftermarket rear valance and 17” 996 Twist wheels dressed in Continental Extreme Contact tires from 2020. The seller notes some scuffs on the underside of the front bumper and paint cracks near the driver’s side keyhole. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing minor damage in October 2021.

As part of the mid-year 1985 update, the 944 received a new interior featuring a redesigned dashboard with larger air vents, revised switches, new HVAC controls, and an enclosed instrument cluster with four round dials. Featuring Burgundy partial leather upholstery, this 944 comes factory-equipped with a power-adjustable driver's seat, power windows, power steering, power brakes, and an electric tilting sunroof. An upgraded stereo has been fitted with CD and AUX inputs, and some cracks and fading are noted on the seats and dashboard. The odometer was inoperable at the time of the seller's purchase and has since been repaired. The dashboard lights, passenger’s side dashboard trim, glove box door, and armrest hinge tray are also said to have been repaired.

The 944 is powered by a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine which was updated with redesigned combustion chambers and modified cam profiles for the second phase of 944 production. Approximately 150 HP is delivered to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed manual transaxle. Recent service is said to include replacement of the power steering sensor in 2019, replacement of the alternator and drive belts in 2021, and replacement of the starter in 2023. The following items are also said to have been replaced:

  • Timing belt
  • Balance shaft belt
  • Front engine seals
  • Camshaft gasket and seals
  • Water pump
  • Radiator hoses
  • Spark plugs
  • Bosch cap and rotor
  • Engine and transmission oil
  • A/C compressor and dryer R-134
  • Parking brake pads and springs
  • Starter motor
  • Hood and hatch struts

This sale will include the owner’s manuals, a window sticker, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, and a car cover.

The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. I have owned the car since April of 2023, it has been enjoyed and garage kept since. The car is in stock condition except for the rims and tires which are from a 911. All the maintenance is up to date including cold A/C. My plan and goal for the car was to complete a driver-quality restoration, and all the care, parts, and labor were not meant for profit or resale, the reupholstery of the seats was next on my list, but life has a funny way of changing our plans and now we must sell the car. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!!!”

@outbid6 the car is road ready I did not drive in high-speed in the video because I was going in circles in a parking lot by myself

  • Dberg77 (seller) 2 months, 3 weeksago

@outbid6 good afternoon there is no issue with the car going in high-speed. I was literally going in circles in a parking lot while trying to film. The car is road ready

  • outbid6 (registered bidder) 2 months, 3 weeksago

  • CEWTBW (registered bidder) 3 monthsago

@Dberg77 Thank you for the additional info. It seems like an honest car.

  • Dberg77 (seller) 3 monthsago

@CEWTBW Good afternoon, and you are absolutely correct, it is a base 944 model, I will notify the staff to make the correction. It is a standard 944 with the 8-valve engine.
I am not sure how helpful this information is for determining actual milage, but the car had the original water pump which was in good condition (I saved it) and the original motor mounts. Based on the records and info from previous owner, and the overall condition, I estimate the car to have between 70k and 80k miles.
    Thank you,

  • CEWTBW (registered bidder) 3 monthsago

Seems to be a nice car. You might want to clarify a couple things that stuck out to me when I was reading your ad.
    1) This car is not a 944S with a 16-valve engine. It is a standard 944 with the 8-valve engine.
    2) Do you have any idea how many actual miles are on this car?
    GLWTA.
