We are pleased to present this factory-built 1988 AC Cobra Mk IV Roadster.  Produced in a joint effort between American automotive designer Carroll Shelby and British specialty car manufacturer AC, the Cobra utilizes a lightweight tubular space frame with aluminum bodywork in conjunction with a powerful Ford V8 engine.  This platform would go on to be used for many years under several different variations including the legendary Cobra 427.  This 1988 Mk IV 5.0L example was hand-built in England by Autokraft before being officially imported and federalized in the United States and sold by Dick Cranston Ford in Rhode Island at a cost of over $74k.  Showcasing some unique factory add-ons, this well-maintained and thoroughly documented AC Cobra is now being offered by its seller in New Jersey while showing just over 23k miles on the odometer.

The hand-rolled aluminum bodywork is factory finished in BMW Black (086).  The paint is said to be in mostly excellent condition with some cosmetic imperfections as depicted in the photo gallery.  The factory chrome stone guards were also removed from the rear fenders with a slight impression left behind.  This example is factory equipped with a removable soft-top and optional windshield side wings.  The factory Halibrand-pattern aluminum alloy wheels also feature optional knock-off hubs and BF Goodrich T/A tires which were installed in 2019.  The original chrome stone guards are included in the sale along with a tonneau cover and removable side curtains.

The cabin is trimmed in black leather and deep pile Wilton carpeting.  The dashboard highlights a central array of instrumentation including an analog clock and gauges for the oil pressure, water temperature, fuel level, and battery condition.  Other features include a climate control system and an original Ford AM/FM cassette radio.  Factory optional headrests are included, and the seller confirms all gauges and accessories to be working properly.

This Cobra is powered by a 5.0 L Ford V8 302 engine with dual stainless steel exhausts, tubular headers, aluminum valve covers, and an aluminum intake manifold. An upgraded Edelbrock electronic fuel injection system has been installed as well.  Approximately 400 HP stock is sent to the rear wheels by way of a Borg-Warner T5 5-speed manual transmission with a Salisbury limited-slip differential.  An independent suspension is factory equipped along with 4-wheel power-assisted disc brakes.  A collection of service records shows consistent maintenance, and the seller indicates this Cobra to be in excellent running order.  Invoices are available for reference in the photo gallery.

This sale will include a set of 2 keys, the original owner’s book with the delivery date, the original bill of sale, factory brochures, service records, original tools, removable headrests, a soft-top, tonneau cover, removable side curtains, and a clean title.  Do not miss out on this very special opportunity to own a true British-American automotive icon.

I had one of these. They were made for the Ford Motor Company at Surry England by AC Autocraft (who bought the AC company) and sold only at a limited number of Ford dealers. I have a printed speech from Ford given to his dealers at their annual convention, introducing the AC MKIV car for sale here. I just have to find it. I still have some odds and ends like new stabilizer bars (never installed) and an extra pair of side wings and knock-offs. Just want to find a new owner a very reasonable price. It's either sell them or give them to charity for sale.
