Available for auction is this 1988 Cadillac Allanté finished in White Metallic over a burgundy leather interior. The Allanté roadster was introduced as a halo car for Cadillac in the late 1980s, aimed to compete with the likes of Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar. It featured a body designed and manufactured by Pininfarina in Italy, which upon completion was imported to Detroit to be mated to its running gear. This one-owner 1988 example is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Missouri while showing just over 40k miles on the odometer.

The Pininfarina bodywork of this Allanté comes finished in White Metallic with a black power-retractable soft top and a removable painted hardtop. The seller notes the exterior to be well preserved, owing to sparing use throughout the years.  Additional photos can be found in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report. This example rides on a set of factory 16″ aluminum wheels with Cadillac-crest center caps and Uniroyal tires.

The cabin comes trimmed in Burgundy leather with matching carpets. This Allanté’s interior features an optional analog gauge cluster as well as a control panel angled towards the driver housing buttons for the sound system and climate controls. Fitting of a top-of-the-line luxury car, the Allanté came equipped with a factory ‘Symphony Sound’ stereo with CD and cassette players, cruise control, power accessories, and a locking glove box and center console. The cabin is described to have been very well kept with all instrumentation and accessories functioning properly.

Power comes from an transverse-mounted 4.1L V8 aluminum engine with multi-port fuel injection, roller valve lifters, high-flow cylinder heads, and a tuned intake manifold, which could produce up to 170 HP when new. The front wheels are driven by way of a 4-speed automatic transmission. The Allanté comes equipped with four-wheel disc brakes, Bosch ABS III, and independent strut suspension at all four corners. The CARFAX report reflects a long history of service dating back as far as 2004, with the most recent service completed in 2021at 40,355 miles by Hazelrigg Automotive Center.

This sale will include the original owner's manuals, painted hardtop, and a clean title. Combining Italian design and American luxury, the Allanté offers a seamless blend of style and comfort. Don’t miss your chance to own this nicely preserved one-owner 1988 example.

If I recall correctly, Cadillac launched the Allante to directly compete with the Mercedes 450, 380SL. The bodies were built in Italy then flown to the US to be assembled. Cadillac initially guaranteed that they would maintain their resale value vs the Mercedes. They lost their asses. Really nice cars that should eventually be recognized by collectors and enthusiasts.

@richjs43 What you are seeing is the underbody plastic protection piece, there are cutouts on that piece from the factory. I took pictures of it and sent to Pcar, I am hoping they will post them along with the tires pics soon. I cannot upload pics directly to the auction, so have to have them do it.

@Dino356987: please comment on the piece of black plastic hanging down behind the front spoiler…it looks like undercarriage cover is damaged or has something missing.see pictures 1, 15,16,17..thanks
