Finished in Grand Prix White over a Marine Blue interior, this 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet is factory-equipped with a desirable G50 5-speed manual transmission as well as an optional short-shift lever and a limited-slip differential. The car benefits from a major service completed in 2018 including rebuilt brake calipers, new brake lines, fuel lines, engine bay insulation, belts, and an overhaul of the A/C system. Showing approximately 108k miles on the odometer, this Carrera Cabriolet is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York.

This Carrera is finished in Grand Prix White (L908) with a dark blue cabriolet roof and factory 16” Fuchs alloy wheels with body-colored centers. The seller indicates some imperfections on the soft top and that paint meter readings show slightly higher numbers towards the rear of the car. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The Marine Blue partial leather (SW) interior includes an optional 8-way electrically operated driver’s seat as well as a short shift gear lever, an elevated steering wheel hub, an electric convertible top, and automatic speed control. Other features include power windows and mirrors, air conditioning, and an aftermarket stereo paired with upgraded speakers. The seller notes the A/C system was fully serviced in 2018 including all-new lines. All gauges and accessories are said to remain fully functional.

Up to 217 HP and 195 lb.-ft of torque is sent to the rear wheels from an air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine paired with a 5-speed G50 manual transmission and an optional limited-slip differential. This 911 is said to have undergone an $8,700 service in 2018 including new engine belts, fuel lines, a new battery, engine bay insulation, rebuilt brake calipers, new brake lines, and a Porsche Classic oil/filter change.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, some documentation, and a clean title.

@Ram3k I apologize for not addressing the duct tape question. Our Porsche tech mentioned that Porsche had a technical bulletin in the 80s regarding taping the electrical wires. Under the tape there are two wires that lead to the evaporator motor. Please see the picture, there is no repair required. I removed the tape, but I will resecure the wires with black tape. If you search on Google, you will also see other vehicles that have black tape securing these wires. I hope this helps. I will load pictures with the tape removed.

@Imperial—Thanks for response. Cold-start video would be helpful. Driving video even more so. GLWTA!

@Imperial - following up on @EZEdChicago question regarding the duct tape: why is it there and is it suggestive of a repair that needs to be made ?
    Thx and GLWTA

I always forget if the 87-89 911 has the the G50 gearbox. Luckily every add ever placed reminds me of it in the title. Good luck with the sale. It is a beautiful car.

  • Imperial (seller) 8 monthsago

@EZEdChicago the entire A/c system has been overhauled including new lines. It is R134. Our Porsche Mechanic has inspected the car and has found it mechanically sound and ready to be enjoyed. I have personally driven it 400 miles and after owner over 15 Gbody 911’s I can attest that this 911 is sorted. The recent 8k in service records is definitely reflected it the car’s performance. Regardless of my opinion , I welcome all inspections from any interested buyer and there mechanics. We have a lift on site and will accommodate. Tomorrow I will list a cold start video demonstrating no smoke on startup and a full drive video. Thank you for your interest

Addenda: the duct tape I referenced was in pic 89, looks like inside the hell hole.

Separately, per photo 84, can you pls confirm the AC refrigerant still uses R12? Is the system functional currently? R134 conversion shouldn’t be a huge issue (in the scheme of things) when needed eventually.

    GLWTA!

  • EZEdChicago (registered bidder) 8 monthsago

    Beautiful car.

I’m pretty sure pic 83 belongs to a different listing (looks like an engine shot of a Corvette split window).

Apologies if I missed it, but have you had a thorough inspection conducted by a knowledgeable tech (probably ideally by a well-regarded independent shop)? Without that it’s difficult to ascertain immediate needs (any and all of which should be justifiable investments on a clean-titled, numbers-matching car like yours seems to be. Such a report surely would be reassuring to prospective bidders.

Ditto for driving videos—again, apologies if I overlooked anything, and if so pls let me know.

A noted one photo showing some duct tape somewhere, and a couple others hinting at surface rust (despite solid-looking suspension components), which again likely could be addressed, and doing so likely would reward the eventual buyer with an immediate return on the repair investment.

    GLWTA!

@Kigiin both rear corners have sight tears due to wear but the top has been tested and is water tight.
