Finished in Black contrasted by a Linen interior, this 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet was sold new from Appleway European Imports in Spokane, Washington, where it has remained with its original owner ever since.  Features include polished 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels, an original Blaupunkt radio, original owner’s manuals and maintenance log, vintage sheepskin seat covers, and a desirable 5-speed G50 manual gearbox.  Regularly serviced from new and driven very sparingly over the past decade, this lifelong West Coast car is now being offered for auction with just over 100k miles showing on the odometer.

This 911 comes finished in nonmetallic Black (L700) paint with a matching convertible top and tonneau cover.  The factory optioned 16”x6” and 16”x7” Fuchs forged alloy wheels have been polished and fitted with a set of colored Porsche crest center caps.  The seller reports the car has been kept in an indoor climate-controlled setting throughout its life and notes minimal imperfections including small touched-up chips on the hood, discolored rubber trim, and a small stone chip in the windshield.  Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The Linen interior has been kept true to its original form with its factory Blaupunkt radio equipped.  The leather seats have reportedly been preserved beneath the same sheepskin covers since new, and the seller describes the cabin to have been kept in excellent condition with few signs of wear.  All gauges and accessories are said to be working properly apart from the clock. The original factory specifications label also remains in place beneath the hood.

The air-cooled 3.2L flat-six engine produces up to 217 HP and 195 lb.-ft of torque, driving the rear wheels through a 5-speed G50 manual transmission.  The original maintenance booklet shows dealer service stamps into the early 2000s, and the CARFAX report includes several subsequent services by European Autohaus of Washington from 2006 up until 2021.  The seller reports an oil change was completed approximately 100 miles ago and states the car starts up promptly, idles strong, and drives very smoothly.  Slight dampness from oil is noted on the valve cover gaskets, although there are no leaks reported.

This sale will include a clean title as well as the original owner’s manuals, maintenance log, toolkit, spare tire, air compressor, Porsche car cover, and original dealer-purchased front bra.

@dsdepew The car is a one owner car, that alone is not terribly interesting. Who the owner is however, is. The car is owned (on consignment to me) by a celebrity. Not a "movie or tv star" (not real celebrities in my book) but, by a ledend of a man who has not only climbed Everest, he has climbed the 7 summits (the highest point on 7 continent's) the Eiger's north face, Makalu, Mckinley, the Matterhorn, Killmanjaro, Rainer (51 times!) and more. The man is an absolute legend. Yes, this is a great car, no question but, it has been a part of this mans facinating life for 34 years. He's also one hell of a nice guy...

Want to talk "celebrity"? Anyone can read lines... not anyone, hardly anyone, has accomplished so much in one life time.

There are a couple of things I would like to point out. Those who know these cars are also aware of some of the wear items that can be costly to replace, this car needs none of those. 1) Visors are in excellent condition, the seams are intact . 2) The glovebox door is not warped. 3) Door cards and pockets are both excellent.

There are also a couple of items that do require attention: 1) The shifter knob is worn (typical with this color interior) The top/fabric covered window seals have discolored/grayed over time however, they do not leak. The valve cover gaskets are slightly damp but do not leak. The right cam housing is the same, slightly damp but, no leak.

Yes, the paint really is that good, as is the rest of the car. It also has an interesting history...

I personally started my Porsche career at Chick Iverson Porsche/Audi in Newport Beach, Ca. in 1978, yes that dates me :) I've driven more than a few of these cars. This car is one of the nicest driving 911's I've ever had the pleasure to pilot. Clutch take-up is chatter and slip free, brake pedal modulation and feel is Porsche perfect, the G50 gearbox shifts perfectly. The car tracks dead straight and I have yet to hear a rattle or squeak from the car. This one will make you smile... happy bidding.
