Up for auction is this well-sorted 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet finished in Pearl White over a Linen and blue leather interior. Featuring a desirable G50 transmission along with over $10k in recent mechanical work, this 911 is said to run strong and is sure to turn some heads. It is now being offered with 116k miles showing on the odometer.

The Pearl White finish on this cabriolet is said to be in very nice condition thanks to a complete professional respray which was commissioned by the seller at the time of purchase.  Additionally, a brand-new contrasting blue top has been installed which remains in near perfect condition. The car rides on a set of 15" factory black Fuchs wheels which are wrapped in Goodyear tires dated from 2014 with plenty of tread life remaining.

The Linen and blue interior has also been completely gone through and features all-new carpeting, leather seating, and refinished door panels. A few noteworthy interior options include power windows, power seats, air conditioning, alarm system, and Blaupunkt radio. This interior is said to be in nice condition with all electronics in working order. The seller does note that there is a slight lag when rolling down the driver’s side window.

The Carfax report does show an odometer issue.  The seller believes that the odometer might have been replaced at 80K miles with a new instrument.  It is assumed that the mileage is consistent.

This Carrera retains its original 3.2 L flat-six engine that produces 217 HP and 195 lb-ft of torque.  The powerband is said to be very linear and pulls effortlessly through the desirable 5-speed G-50 gearbox.  At the time of the seller's purchase, over $10k was spent on bringing this car up to his mechanical standards.  A more recent service was carried out which included all new fluids and filters, new brakes, and a new battery.  It is said to be in great running order. The sale will include two keys, books, records, spare tire, and original parts.

    Attention Bidders:
As a very rare occurrence, the high bidder just won a Targa in the DealTank that he had placed an offer on a few days prior and is unable to take both vehicles. As a result we must retract the current high bid of $34,911. We apologize for any confusion.

@SlicRic understandable. I’ve never looked up the codes. Thanks

@Richardg I may be wrong sir. With all do respect, you cannot argue the build sticker color code. As well it appears "not white" beneath the VIN perforation in the door jam sticker.

@SlicRic I’ve owned this car for years. There’s no blue paint on this car.

  • SlicRic 3 years, 10 monthsago

@Richardg No worries mate. Thanks for the replies. Looking closer on a monitor (not my tiny phone) shows the original blue in spots. An impressive color change to be sure. Car looks great. GLWTA.

@SlicRic I’m not near the car . It stays at my weekend home.

@Richardg Very curious as the photo provided of the underside of the luggage compartment lid shows the build code sticker with paint code L35V. For 1988 this is "Marine Blue". Can you provide a photo of the paint data sticker inside the luggage compartment, under the carpet, and behind the the passenger headlight bucket? I agree it would be a major undertaking.

  • Richardg (seller) 3 years, 10 monthsago

@SlicRic Hello , the 155K was a typo. The car has 116k. As for as I know, the car had a Previous respray . It was ok, I had a respray to bring it up to par. If the color was never changed unless someone did a glass out paint job. I don’t think that happened. As you can see in pics all original tags under the bonnet, in the engine compartment and in the door jams would have had to be replaced.

First paragraph in the description states "It is now being offered with 155k miles showing on the odometer."? The carfax shows the color noted as white starting 2011. Is this the last "respray" when it was changed from blue?

  • Richardg (seller) 3 years, 10 monthsago

@CurtGT3RS engine runs strong as it should. With no smoke.

  • Richardg (seller) 3 years, 10 monthsago

@CurtGT3RS engine has never been rebuilt.
