Finished in Grand Prix White, this 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe was acquired by the seller in 2018 and has undergone extensive customization and upgrades including a mini ducktail rear spoiler, 9Eleven LED headlights, 17” Fiftenn52 Outlaw wheels, a Wevo shifter and engine mounts, an M&K exhaust, and a custom interior upholstered in basketweave wine red vinyl with Classic Touring Seats. The car has also been serviced with new oil lines, a new alternator, intake gaskets, breather hoses, ignition wires, RSR suspension bushings, A/C components, and much more. This custom Carrera is now being offered for auction by its owner out of Texas while showing approximately 158k miles on the odometer.

This Coupe was factory finished in Grand Prix White and has been customized with the removal of the front and rear bumperettes as well as the installation of a custom front valence, a mini ducktail rear spoiler, drilled door handles, bullet-style mirrors, 9Eleven LED headlights, and a removable roof rack. The original mirrors and headlights will be provided to the next owner. The seller notes some paintwork was performed during the installation of the front valence and rear wing, the brake calipers have been powder-coated gold, paint protection film is applied to the hood, and the exterior has undergone paint correction and ceramic coating. Some small chips are present on the lower rocker panels. The car rides on a set of staggered-width 17” Fifteen52 Outlaw wheels dressed in Bridgestone S-04 Pole Position tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is lined with Daytona weave carpeting and features basketweave wine red vinyl upholstery covering the Classic Touring Seats and door panels. Other details include custom fabricated F-Body style lower dashboard trim, a three-spoke MOMO steering wheel with a Singer-style horn button, a custom wine-red tachometer dial, Rennline track mats, a custom wooden shift knob, anodized and engraved aluminum defrost lever handles, and aluminum dashboard knobs. The Bluetooth-controlled sound system features a 5-channel JL Audio amplifier located beneath the passenger seat, a JL TWK System Tuning DSP, and Focal speakers. Under the hood, the luggage compartment is upholstered to match the cabin and features an upgraded Rennline aluminum manual shock and a lightweight Odyssey PC925 battery mounted in a Rennline aluminum cradle. The seller notes the center console has been removed, the aftermarket headers do not have heater boxes, and the A/C control panel was relocated to the radio compartment. The A/C system has been flushed and serviced with a new compressor, clutch, and receiver drier. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.

Power comes from an air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine that drives the rear wheels through a 5-speed G50 manual transaxle featuring a Wevo shifter and PSJ coupler. The engine is paired with an M&K exhaust system including headers and a twin-pipe sport muffler. Upgraded Wevo mounts were also installed for the engine and gearbox. The brakes feature new coated rotors and braided stainless-steel lines at each corner and the suspension has been freshened with all-new shocks, a Rebel Racing RSR bushing kit, Turbo tie rod ends, and adjustable spring plates. Service completed under the seller’s ownership has included new fuel lines, cam oil lines, a new oil thermostat and pressure light switch, a new alternator, speed sensor, heat temperature sensor, breather hoses, intake gaskets, distributor cap and rotor, a new engine bay insulation pad, ignition wires, and a new fan and fan shroud. The intake manifolds, alternator housing, and fan were also tumbled and clear-coated.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, a car cover, a battery charger, a collection of records, and a clean title.

    I’ve seen this car many times over the past couple of years. I can’t say enough positive things about the car and the owner. He is meticulous. The value of the time he’s put into this build far surpasses the current bid price. It is very well represented here. The car always draws a huge crowd at whatever show it pulls up to. The craftsmanship is exquisite.

    @gmg356 Thank you for your question. The car sits completely level. I just double checked some measurements and it is spot on.
    25.5" to the arch opening. The front tires (205x50x17) are 1/10th of an inch taller than the rear (255x40x17). BOTH TIRES ARE APPROX. 25" TALL. Both tires have a sidewall of 4". I'm pretty fanatical about tires and wheel offset. There is zero rubbing on this car. The wheels were made to my specifications and my desired offset. I prefer a tire wheel combination that sits just inside the wheel arch lip. I wanted to adjust the ride height down a bit but my aggressive driveway approach prevented that. It could certainly be lowered another 1/2".

    Beautiful car! I love the amount and quality of detail you put in. I also have an ‘88, though mine is mostly stock. One question… the rear stance appears to sit a little proud. Is that because of the wider tires and rims rubbing? It seems like it should sit 3/4” to 1” lower.

    @P-Unit it is a GT Racing RSR lower valance. It mounts under the front bumper. The splitter on the bottom edge is Aluminum and it was made by myself.

    @MartyMcfly it was already adjustable. Air cooled Porsches (64/65 - 88/89) use a torsion bar type suspension which is adjustable. The torsion bars are available in various spring rates (twist) and offer adjustable ride height. The adjustable spring plate makes for a much quicker ride height adjustment. Setting the ride height, on an air cooled Porsche, is not complicated for someone who has done it before.

    What a great looking car! Looks like you went to Rennline and said "I'll have one of everything" which works absolutely stunningly on this one! The wheels, perfect, all of the personal touches, fantastic. Love the mini ducktail as well. I don't love the front lower valance, but everything else is so good that's forgiveable :) I'll be jealous of the new owner! Best to the seller, cheers.

    @bmosing thank you for your question. I went back and forth regarding my shock selection. I had taken some weight out of the car and selected a pretty aggressive tire. After my spring plates were installed (Rebel Racing adjustable) I ultimately decided on new Porsche Strut Inserts - Bilsteins for the Boge Struts up front and new Porsche correct replacement rear shock absorbers.
    I believe the front part number is 911.341.913 and the rear part number is 911.333.051.17. I had to check my records to be sure.
    All of the suspension is fresh. A nice mix of new factory parts and rebel racing parts.

    I wanted to comment on the roof rack. It is a modified Rennline piece. Modified in that I stripped the anodized finish and refinished in powder coat, changed the angle of the attachment points for a better fit, stripped the finish of the wood slats and provided new stain and finish, The body paint is protected at the attachment points with clear protection film. The rack can be removed in about 10 minutes….

    I will also note (regarding @porscheatx question) that when the leak down was performed by Mayo Performance the plugs looked great. I have zero concern regarding the reliability of this car.

    @porscheatx The case was not split during my ownership. I can not confirm, with previous ownership paperwork, that it has ever been. Leak down performed 09/23/2023 confirms solid numbers. No leaks. All fluids have been serviced. Recent repairs include all new fuel lines, cam oil lines, oil thermostat, oil pressure light switch, new A/C compressor & clutch, receiver drier, Alternator, Intake gaskets, speed sensor, head temp sensor, breather hoses, new distributor cap/rotor., spark plugs and wires. The Intake manifolds and fan were tumbled to clean them up and then clear coated. I then decided on a brand new Porsche fan. The shroud is Rennline's new piece.
