Finished in Guards Red over a Black interior, this 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe features a desirable 5-speed G50 manual transaxle paired with its air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine. It was sold new in Connecticut and purchased by the seller, a PCA member and former Club Director, from its third owner out of Rhode Island in 2008 before being imported to Canada. Under the seller’s ownership, this 911 was fitted with upgraded Bilstein heavy-duty shock inserts, new brake pads, a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, and 16”x6"/16"x7” Fuchs alloy wheels. Having been kept in climate-controlled storage with less than 6k miles driven since the seller’s purchase 16 years ago, this Carrera is now being offered for auction with approximately 93k miles showing on the odometer accompanied by service records, owner’s manuals, a new solid-state DME relay, and more.
The exterior is finished in Guards Red, and the car was reportedly fitted with optional dealer-installed front and rear spoilers upon initial delivery. Equipment includes a front valence with integrated fog lights, H4 headlamps, an electric sunroof, rear bumperettes, and 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels measuring 6” wide in front and 7” wide in the rear. The seller indicates that the new Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires were installed in September 2024, and a set of new wheel center caps and lug nuts is included. The doors and rear quarter panels were refinished under previous ownership, and the current owner recently refinished the front valence and rear spoiler to address cosmetic imperfections. A small area of peeling clear coat is noted on the roof near the passenger rear window frame. Detailed images and paint meter readings are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The Black interior includes power-adjustable leather seats, a three-spoke MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, power windows and mirrors, a central locking system, an aftermarket remote alarm system, air conditioning, cruise control, and a modern Blaupunkt Bremen SQR46 DAB Bluetooth radio paired with upgraded speakers. A small hole was cut in the underside of the dashboard by the previous owner for a radar detector, although it is reportedly hard to notice when sitting in the car. Worn piping was repaired on the driver’s seat in 2008 and a small imperfection is noted on the passenger-side B-pillar cover. The original four-spoke leather steering wheel is included in the sale. The driver’s side passenger window switch works intermittently, although a new replacement switch will be provided to the next owner.
An air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine delivers up to 217 HP to the rear wheels through a 5-speed G50 manual transaxle. The clutch was replaced under previous ownership and the seller lowered the suspension with a torsion bar adjustment. The car was also fitted with new brake pads and upgraded Bilstein green and yellow heavy-duty shock inserts. Images of the undercarriage, wheel wells, and engine bay are provided in the gallery along with a collection of service records.
This sale will include two remote key fobs, owner’s manuals, a window sticker, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air compressor, a car cover, a battery charger, service records, and a clean title. Some spare parts also include a new solid-state DME relay and oil pressure sensor.
The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction. I have owned this car for over 16 years and have lovingly cared for it during this period. The car when not in use was always stored in a climate-controlled garage. All maintenance is up-to-date and a set of new tires and "Like New" Porsche OEM Fuchs were installed in September of 2023. The car is completely stock and has been pampered and well-maintained by myself and the previous custodians of the car. I hope whoever buys this car will get the same fulfillment of ownership that I've had for the last 16 years. It’s been a blast but it’s time to send it off to the next owner!”

@Denim the last valve adjustment was done by the previous owner in 2004 at 78,500 miles. That was 4 years before I bought the car and the car has only been driven 15,000 miles since that valve adjustment was carried out. My mechanic saw no need to do another valve adjustment at this time.
The power window switch on the passenger side door is working properly. It’s the secondary passenger window switch that is located on the driver side door that is working intermittently. The passenger window can be lowered using that switch but the raising function works intermittently. I ordered a new OEM window switch from Sierra Madre in California and it will be provided to the buyer with the car.

When is the last time it had a valve adjustment ?
The PW switch is faulty ?
@Sdickey The AC system is low on refrigerant but to the best of my knowledge it is still in working condition.
When I bought the car, the original AC compressor had a broken clutch and was able to source a working replacement compressor that was removed from an 87 or 88 911 about 3 hours away from where I lived. The purchase included the compressor and an AC condenser with hoses that attaches under the rear decklid. I will include the spare condenser as a spare part with the sale if the buyer wants it.
Regarding the AC system, I only used the AC for the first 3 years of ownership. The AC system was converted from R14 to R134a when I bought the car and it was explained to me by my mechanic that the system was designed for R14 refrigerant which is composed of a different gas density than the more environmentally friendly R134a refrigerant. This results in the R134a gas leaking through the hose connectors in the system more easily than the R14 refrigerant and therefore requires an annual recharge of the refrigerant.
Because I only drove this car occasionally, I usually picked cool summer days and never drove it when it wasn't really hot out so I didn't need the AC. The compressor should still be in good working condition so if the system was to be recharged with R134a refrigerant I can't see why it should continue blowing cold as it did the last time I had it charged.
As far as any upgrades to the car, the only thing I could think of would be to add a power amp and maybe some ultra high-end speakers because I am a bit of an audiophile. It already has an amazing new stereo so no upgrade required there. 16x9 Fuchs in the rear would be a nice upgrade as well but they are very rare and quite pricey - you can buy new OEM Fuchs for $1,200 US per wheel!
Other than that I honestly wouldn't touch anything else on the car because I think its perfect as it is today!
@mickolive - thanks for all the answers below. Nice presentation. A few questions - is the AC operable, blowing cold by chance? If you were to make any upgrades or investment in the car today what would you do if anything (somewhat loaded question I realize....)
I forgot to include the current vehicle registration documentation in Ontario that serves as the vehicle Title in Canada in the list of ownership and registration information that will be provided to the buyer
I wanted to mention that I have copies of the following USA sale and registration records that will facilitate the re-importation of the car into the USA that I will provide to the buyer:
- Bill of Sale issued to me by previous owner in RI when I purchased the car in 2008
- 2008 Rhode Island Vehicle Registration
- Certified Letter from State of RI indicating that RI does not issue Titles for vehicles older than 10 years that makes specific reference to my vehicle year, make, model and VIN
- Bill of Sale between 2nd and 3rd owner when vehicle was sold in 1999 in RI
- copy of the last Title issued in 1996 when the car was registered by the 2nd owner and was signed over to the 3rd owner on the back of the Title document
@ericpascas the engine has never had any major service work other than the routine maintenance identified in the service records from the past owners.
@ericpascas thanks for the compliments on the car. I have never noticed any oil
consumption and I have never had to add any oil between oil changes. I have also never noticed any puffs of blue smoke at startup. I have noticed normal condensation from startups on cool Spring or Fall mornings but the colour of the exhaust smoke is the normal gray colour until the engine and exhaust system warm up.
A beautiful car...could you comment on oil consumption, puff of blue on start-up and major service on the engine.
Thanks

I wanted to share that I drove the car home to Canada from Rhode Island when I purchased the car back in 2008. I took my time driving back on secondary roads and it was a really memorable first drive in the car. I also ended up saving a lot of transportation costs and border customs expenses by acting as my own broker which was very easy to do.
For prospective USA bidders that are within a reasonable driving distance who would be considering driving the car home to the USA, I would like to offer to drive the car to the Canada-USA Niagara Border where I could hand off the car to the new owner.

@Denim Thanks for the compliments on the car. I'll do my best to answer your questions:
Can you comment on changes you’ve made to the car. IE lowered, etc.
- The only changes I made were the radio, steering wheel, and lowering of the suspension through indexing of the torsion bars. The ride height can be set back to US or Euro Spec height by reindexing the torsion bars. This involves just the labour of doing the adjustments top the stock torsions bars.
Any signs of rust or bubbles? What is the extent of normal wear, chips, ‘road rash’ type thing ?
- no rust anywhere on the car. Are very minor stone chips on the hood and front bumper have been touched up
- I made my best attempt to show all the cosmetic flaws that the car has in the photos.
Do I understand correctly, the car did NOT come from factory with spoilers ?
That is correct. The front and rear spoiler are OEM Porsche parts that were installed at the dealer.
Pics 255-288. What are we looking at ?
- these are pictures that show where a little bit of the clear coat is peeling of on and just underneath the "rain gutter" just above the passenger side rear window. Its very minor and hard to notice until you get really close up. It has been that way since I have owned the car.
I hope that clarifies things for you.
Regards
Lovely car. @seller. Your care & attention to detail shows.
