Finished in Black over a matching interior, this 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe was originally sold by Porsche of Downtown Los Angeles in California and features optional 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels, cruise control, an electric sunroof, and a 5-speed G50 manual gearbox. The car was acquired by its third owner earlier in 2023 and is supported by over a decade’s worth of maintenance history including replacement of the clutch, spark plugs, oil lines, valve cover gaskets, and rear axle boots. Showing under 50k miles on the odometer, this Carrera is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New Jersey.

This Coupe is finished in Black and features a front valence with integrated fog lights and a chin spoiler, heated and electrically adjustable side mirrors, an optional electric sunroof, and 16” Fuchs forged alloy wheels. The car rides on a set of Dunlop Direzza tires (2310) sized 205/55/R16 in front and 225/50/R16 in the rear. The seller indicates the driver’s side rear quarter panel was previously refinished and some stone chips are present on the front end. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.

The cabin is appointed with black partial leather upholstery and includes an electrically height-adjustable driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, power windows, air conditioning, a central locking system, and optional cruise control. The sound system has also been improved with upgraded speakers and a more modern Porsche radio. A new fuse box was installed in 2011, the steering column bushing was replaced in 2013, new sunroof seals were installed in 2022, and the front trunk lid shocks were replaced in 2023. The seller indicates all gauges and accessories are working properly.

The air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine is connected to a 5-speed G50 manual gearbox that delivers up to 217 HP to the rear wheels. Standard performance features include rack & pinion steering and four-wheel independent suspension with vented disc brakes at each corner. The seller has provided maintenance history going back over ten years which includes a new alternator and belt installed in 2011 along with new brake and clutch master cylinders, oil lines, and timing & valve cover gaskets. The fuel pump and check valve were replaced in 2013 and a new clutch kit was installed in 2018 as well as new spark plugs and a fuel pressure regulator. New valve cover gaskets and rear axle boots were installed in 2022 and service in June 2023 included a new battery and an oil & filter change.

This sale will include owner’s manuals, the original window sticker, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, a first aid kit, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction.  There is nothing like driving an air-cooled Porsche and this one is the quintessential G-Body car with a G50 Transmission and low mileage that has only had 3 owners and is a well-cared-for complete car.”

@Gk080888 Hello. I am not sure how familiar you are with Air-cooled Porsche 911's of this era, but there is no abnormal noise coming from the interior. The engine noise you hear is absolutely normal. This car runs and drives absolutely as it should.

  • Gk080888 (registered bidder) 8 months, 3 weeksago

I hear quite strong noise in the interior . Any comments?

A very nice little survivor. These later G bodied cars are terrific. I have an '87 and not only do all the gauges & clock still work but the little light in the glove box comes on when you open the glove box! GLWS!!

@991C2SMT Thanks for reaching out. Yes, everything works as it should. All serial number match. Unfortunately, I have no idea why the panel was painted. It was done prior to the previous owner but looks like it was just a paint repair as the inside of the panel and in the fender and door jamb all look correct. I did my best to show all imprecations in the photos.

  • 991C2SMT (registered bidder) 8 months, 3 weeksago

Does everything work properly such as the guages, A/C, etc. why exactly was the driver’s side rear quarter panel previously refinished? Do the photos show all chips and imperfections? All serial numbers match? Thank you.

@Permalink-5G Thanks for reaching out. I have just uploaded another photo of the battery location. I pulled the battery out and realized the photo was taken before that was cleaned. There was some white powder but cleaned up nicely as the new photo shows. PCar will upload shortly. Regarding photo #240, the engine number. That is not a crack. The casing for the fan shroud slips right next to the engine number which is stamped in the actual engine case. I hope that helps. Please reach out if you have any other questions.

  • Permalink-5G (registered bidder) 8 months, 3 weeksago

What is the white behind the battery in photo # 159 ? Looks like battery cracked and leaked acid ?
Also, in photo # 240 , looks like fractured support bracket . What am I looking at there ?
