We are pleased to offer this 1988 Porsche 911 Carrera G50 finished in Guards Red.  In addition to its sought-after G50 5-speed manual gearbox, this 1988 example is factory equipped with forged 16” Fuchs wheels, a rear window wiper, and a Linen leather interior that has been kept in great shape.  Having spent most of its life in New Mexico, this 911 was brought to Florida in 2019 where it was purchased by its current owner about one year ago.  It has since undergone some noteworthy maintenance items and is now being offered for auction while showing approximately 107k miles on the odometer.

This Carrera is finished in Guards Red and the paint is said to be in good condition throughout with some minor road-going wear, detailed images are provided in the photo gallery along with paint meter readings.  The hood was previously refinished and the seller notes a small ding on the passenger side rear corner just above the taillight.  Minor damage is reported on CARFAX in 1996 and there are no records of repair or signs of persisting damage noted.  This example retains its factory 16” Fuchs forged wheels that have been dressed in new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires within the last 2,500 miles.

Inside, you will find a well-preserved Linen leather interior.  Factory features include a rear window wiper, cruise control, a sunroof, and a steering wheel with an elevated hub.  Some minor wear is present on the driver’s seat and on the carpet beneath the driver’s door pocket.  Black floor mats have been added and the original Linen mats are said to be included as well.  The original Blaupunkt Charleston radio has been retained and an aftermarket amplifier and Bluetooth receiver have been added for convenience.  Under the current ownership, the defroster switch has been replaced along with the driver’s side passenger window switch, cigarette lighter, A/C evaporator, and blower motor.  All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.

This Carrera is equipped with an air-cooled 3.2 L flat-six engine that sends 217 HP to the rear wheels through a highly desirable G50 5-speed manual gearbox.  Since purchasing the car, the seller has had the clutch master cylinder rebuilt along with a full oil service and the replacements of the spark plugs and ignition wires.  This 911 is said to be in strong running and driving condition with no mechanical issues reported at this time.

This sale will include and a clean title. Do not miss out on your chance to get behind the wheel of this nicely sorted Carrera G50.

Another very well kept and sweet looking Porsche here on PCarmarket.
The colors aren’t my personal preference, however it seems many do like them.
Should do well at crunch time... ( 46 ? )

Nice car. I too am impressed with the condition of the cars interior, linen is tough to take care of and normally does not wear well. Someone is going to be getting a darn nice car.

  • MpPorsche (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

@afleffler Thanks for your question. There are no modifications on this car. It is stock. There are no outstanding repair items. As I mentioned below, I have encountered some significant medical issues that require $$ and I plan to use the proceeds from the car for them.
    Hope this helps

Just curious...what are your reasons to sell ? Any specific items that need to be repaired, or upgraded? I’ve gotten quotes for air conditioning improvement on these cars. Worth doing the full retrofit. Pricey but worth it. Check out: www.Griffiths.com
Good luck with your sale. Nice looking 911!

@Caymanorcarrera thanks for the comment. .I am an old dude and bought this for fun in retirement. I have put 2500 miles on it with no issues. The car is a blast! Good looking, good performance and easy to work on. My fun has been interrupted by some medical issues that have set me back. My kids do not want it. I have a fitted cover, lightly used tool set, two sets of keys, instruction book and a copy of a full service manual that comes with the car.

Very nice looking original 3.2 Carrera, with just a smidge over 100K mi.

No downside here. This one's gonna likely hold its value regardless of how many miles you put on, so long as you shower him with love and care. And the care, .......fluids annually, and valves every 7500 or so, just isn't a big deal. Keep those original seats nice and supple with frequent conditioner applied.......you're good. Worse thing that's gonna happen is that you'll need a clutch or a top end, but it won't "hurt" to do it knowing that the car inholding its value, or even appreciating.

Hope we get to see it captured by a new appreciative custodian (-:

@wadds1971 I have received may positive comments on the linen interior. Some have said its more "refined" than the typical black leather. I favor the light interior. The space inside the car feels bigger and more open. The car has been garage kept and there is no cracking or other sun damage on the car. If the pictures are not clear on this, please let me know so I can get more posted. The original floor mats are weathered and I have replaced them with the black mats shown. I still have the original mats but have not attempted to revive them.

@MpPorsche - Glad to hear that news re: the door paint, etc. It just seemed a tiny bit different to my eyes when comparing to the adjacent panels, but I guess it's just my aging eyesight, or the lighting. Sure is a nice-looking 911, and quite unusual with the linen interior treatment, too, which is kind of growing on me. We're all so used to seeing all-black in these, I think, and it's nice to see some variation. How do the original carpets look underneath those black mats, BTW? With a lifetime spent in hot, sunny climates, is there any sign of dash cracking, or other defects due to sun exposure and heat? It shows very well in the pics, that's for sure.

  • MpPorsche (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

@wadds1971 thanks for the question. From all I have been able to reconcile, the damage is the passenger back corner shown in the pictures. With respect to the drivers door, the paint is original and it’s thickness is very consistent across the door and the remaining car. (About 6 mils). There is no difference in color. I looked hard at the car before I purchased it and cannot find any signs of damage other the rear previously mentioned.

  • wadds1971 (registered bidder) 3 years, 1 monthago

I'm curious about the "minor damage" that was reported in 1996 in the Carfax. Did it possibly involve the driver's door? It almost appears that the color of that door is a slightly lighter shade of red than that of the fender and rear quarter panel on the left side, especially in pic #6. Also, that door panel seems to sit just slightly proud of the adjacent panels, particularly on its front edge. Maybe it's just the pics, but a comment from the seller would be welcome. Thanks.

To all, I noticed an error in the posting. I replaced the AC condenser in the front and the blower. I did nit replace the evaporator. When I purchased the car , there was a Freon leak. I fixed the leak and replaced the dryer. About 6 months later the blower failed and I replaced it with the front condenser. AC works reasonably well in south FL. As we all know, the AC in these cars are marginal compared to new cars. Replacing the evaporator and making some of the modifications noted on some of the forums would yield some improvement. If I was up North, I would remove all the AC components to lighten the call.

  • MpPorsche (seller) 3 years, 1 monthago

@southbaysurf There are no signs or smell of smoking in the car. When I purchased the car the rear defrost did not work due to a blown fuse. The fuse feeds the defrost switch and lighter so I replaced both. The problem was in the defrost switch. Hope this helps.

Wonderful looking car! Why was the cigarette lighter replaced? Does car have any signs of Tabaco use inside with foul odors or staining?
