Now available for auction is this 1988 Porsche 930 Turbo Coupe finished in Black over a black leather interior.  The flagship Porsche of its day, this 1988 example is said to have remained under the care of its original owner up until the last owner’s acquisition in 2016.  A major service was just completed at a cost of over $9,500 including a refresh of the CIS fuel system, new fuel lines, brake lines, a new clutch, tires, fluids, and more.  Thoroughly documented and accompanied by the original books, tools, air compressor, and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, this beautifully preserved 930 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Massachusetts while showing just over 12k miles on the odometer.

This 930 is finished in nonmetallic Black and features the Turbo’s characteristic wide fenders and Tea Tray rear spoiler.  Additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  This Turbo rides on factory 16” Fuchs wheels with anodized silver lips, black-painted faces, and new Yokohama A-008 tires.

The driver is situated within a black leather interior featuring an electric sunroof, power-operated seats, and an alarm system.  The factory Blaupunkt Reno radio remains in place and the seller describes the cabin to have been kept in very good original condition throughout the years.  All gauges and accessories are also reported to be fully functional.

This 930 carries an air-cooled 3.3L turbocharged flat-six engine that produces as much as 282 HP and 289 lb.-ft of torque.  The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed manual gearbox with a factory-optioned limited-slip differential.  The fastest production Porsche of its time, this 930 is capable of accelerating from 0-60 MPH in under 5 seconds while reaching a top speed of over 155 MPH.  Compared with the standard 911, the Turbo also features upgraded suspension and larger brakes derived from the legendary 917 race car.  Maintenance records are said to have been kept throughout the lifetime of the vehicle and a major service was recently completed in preparation for sale including new brake lines, a new clutch, and fluid and filter changes, as well as a full refresh of the CIS fuel system by Flowtech including a rebuilt warmup regulator, new fuel lines, and a rebuilt fuel distributor.

This sale will include the original owner’s manuals, toolkit, air compressor, service records, Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, and a clean title.  A fine example with low miles and an impeccable history of ownership, this Turbo would make an excellent addition to any world-class Porsche collection.

@ljpviper No definitely not a deal breaker. This car looks amazing and should fetch a lot. Doesn't get much better IMO.

Agreed, mine is mostly 4 to 5 as well. I meant a panel repainted is not necessarily a deal breaker for a 33 year old car. Lots of cars get rode chips, etc

@ljpviper I have had quite a few 930s with original paint and never saw an 11 unless the car had paintwork after the factory. These cars are single stage and even if they have never been polished over the years you would see in the 4 or 5 range. If that panel shows one 11 and the rest of the panel was consistently lower like the rest of the car you could have a rare occasion where one section got some extra paint.

@MoPen The car retains its original factory installed exhaust system inclusive of its original catalytic converter. Not sure how that equates to CA emission testing.

Good day. I loaded additional photos showing originality of the undercarriage with cosmoline still intact and a few shots showing original lenses etc for further clarity as to the originality of this low mileage 930. Please bid with confidence that this car is a great one with no stories.

Paint meter readings are all over on g series cars. They were hand built/painted. My 89 turbo has similar readings as well. Finding a 30 year old plus car with perfect paint readings is nearly impossible. Nothing wrong with the readings.

@MezgerTT Yes you are correct. I started on the left front fender and worked my way around the car heading to the rear. The 11 gauge is next to the Turbo logo on the rear decklid.

@hatchmotors Thank you. Not sure how I missed that. If I’m seeing things right it looks like the car is mainly 3 - 4 mil, except the cowl, roof and area above the rear engine hatch are 5 to 6.5 mil. Also, is it the engine hatch that’s reading 11 mil? Thanks c

  • hatchmotors (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@MezgerTT Sorry I forgot to comment on the windshield when answering your post. The windshield is free of any chips or nicks. The car represents as a well cared for low mileage car should.

  • hatchmotors (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@MezgerTT Thank you for asking about the paint meter readings. The Redding’s are attached in the photos and all show original paint except the rear lower engine cover below spoiler. That gauges higher than what I consider factory.
There are no chips on tne hood

  • MezgerTT (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

    @hatchmotors
Do you have any paint meter readings that you car share? Any evidence of paint work or prior bodywork. Any chips in hood or windshield? Thank you.

In preparation for sale we changed the tires to the current Yokohama A-008 tires that are shown in the gallery photos. The photos of the Turbo in the outdoor photographs show the car wearing Continental tires that had date codes from 2001. The Continental tires are no longer on the car; however, we felt it was important to show them to help prove out the mileage as actual.
