One of 980 examples built in total and only 500 reportedly delivered in North America, this 1988 Porsche 924 S is designated as a Special Edition by internal option code M756. It comes finished in Black over a unique lightweight grey pinstripe cloth interior with maroon carpeting. This example was ordered with Sport Suspension as well as optional power steering, a sunroof, and a leather steering wheel. Recently serviced with a new clutch kit, master/slave cylinders, and fresh fluids, this rare 924 S Special Edition is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

Special Edition models were offered exclusively in Black for the U.S. market. Factory mudguards are equipped on this example along with an optional sunroof, passenger-side mirror, and 15” aluminum alloy Phone Dial wheels measuring 6” wide in front and 7” wide in the rear. The car rides on a set of BF Goodrich tires (2018/2019). Some imperfections are noted including chips on the front end, a dent below the driver’s taillight, slightly faded paint roof, and some scratches and patina throughout. The seller states the power sunroof is operational and does not leak. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The 924 S Special Edition features a unique interior trimmed in lightweight grey pinstriped cloth upholstery and burgundy carpeting with matching floor mats. This example includes reupholstered seats in white vinyl as well as a factory leather steering wheel and Blaupunkt Charleston SQR26 radio. Some cracks are depicted on the dashboard and the seller states the odometer is inoperable, however, the trip odometer remains fully functional along with all other gauges and accessories. The seller states the A/C blow cold and that an extra can of R12 refrigerant is included with the sale along with a new thermo fan switch.

As much as 160 HP and 155 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels from a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine paired with a 5-speed manual transaxle. This example features optional power steering and factory Sport Suspension (M030) which adds thicker anti-roll bars, adjustable front coilovers, and stiffer Koni shocks. Service carried out in recent months includes installation of a new clutch kit, master cylinder, and slave cylinder as well as a new brake master cylinder, brake fluids flush, oil change, and new hose clamps for the power steering reservoir. The timing and balance shaft belts were replaced under prior ownership along with the fuel lines, fuel pump, and filter.

This sale will include the original owner’s manuals and maintenance booklet, a toolkit, a spare tire, some service records, and a clean title.

    Hi there,
two pictures have been uploaded of the under carriage factory aluminum engine cover that will included with the car. These are important to the engine as some of the louvers or fins if you will, are designed specifically to direct air towards the oil cooler.

@n_l oH my goodness I forgot to post pic. Yes I do ? I will post a picture of it before I reinstall it. They are very important as certain fins are factory designed to direct air over the oil cooler

Do you have the metal protective plate that goes under the engine bay?

What an amazing car. The attention to detail you have given this car is amazing. I own 2 924 S SE and they are special cars for sure. Looks like this one is ready to rip! Hope you are able to find it a good home and sorry you are letting it go. Best of luck to the bidders!

Hello everyone, thanks for bidding, we are down to the last few hours. I would really like to sell this car, please feel free to ask any questions and concerns that you may have. This is a rare opportunity to own one of very few Porsches ever made. Extremely rare that one comes up for sale, now is your chance to own one of these rare beauties. Happy bidding!

@Haltung The front spoiler was like that when I bought the car, it hasn't been repaired. It is pretty common for a 924 or 944 especially the passenger side to be damaged. It is a blind spot and most forget about it being so low, especially pulling up to a parking spot or pulling into a curb. In my personal opinion I believe this car has under 100k miles, I have no record of true mileage, but based on the condition of the interior, Rich deep color on the carpets, seals, and original black vinyl towards the inside rear of the car, the door panels, sunroof vinyl, the tool kit being almost pristine condition, the condition of the spare tire, hatch locks, and other things this car was well driven, enjoyed and quite possibly mostly garaged. It really runs smooth, and shifts like butter.

@Haltung Hello, the vinyl was done before the the last owner. A company in Germany, Werk924, makes the correct cloth to reupholster the seats and door panels. It is, however, expensive – about a hundred euros per meter, and you need at least 5-6 meters to do one car.

A few questions: Did you do that white vinyl reupholstery, or was that something that happened to the car before your ownership? Do you know how the front spoiler incurred damage? (photo 6) And approximately when did the odometer stop working, what do you think the actual mileage is? Thanks!

You have 2 SE's also. Nice. I have a manual and an AUTOMATIC. How horrible. But like the uniqueness of them.

  • JBoxerGT2 (seller) 1 year, 6 monthsago

@msobilo Hello, I own one as part of my personal Porsche collection, but it will not be part of this sale unfortunately. I bought the coin online many years ago from a coin collector long before I owned my 1st special edition 924S. They are extremely hard to find. Now a days would probably sell for $1000, who knows.

  • msobilo (registered bidder) 1 year, 6 monthsago

Do you happen to have the coin that originally came with the car?
