Once intended to replace the 911 as Porsche's flagship sports car, the 928 combines sport-oriented power and handling with class-leading refinement and luxury. For the 1987 model year, the 928 received major updates including aerodynamically optimized bodywork and a new 5.0-liter V8 engine with four-valves-per-cylinder. This 1988 example comes finished in Black over a matching leather interior and includes an optional electric sunroof. It is now being offered for auction by its seller out of New York showing approximately 46k miles on the odometer.
Compared to the original 928 model, the S4 features a more rounded aerodynamic nose, side skirts, and a black polyurethane rear spoiler. This example comes finished in Black with factory 16” flat disc alloy wheels dressed in Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires. The seller notes the paint remains in very good condition with some light swirl marks. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
The cabin is trimmed in Black leather and includes power windows and door locks, 8-way electric front seats, driver position memory, automatic climate control, a digital clock, a rear window wiper, and cruise control. A service record from October 2020 shows the door panels and center console armrest have been reupholstered. The seller adds that all gauges and electronics are working properly.
The 928 S4 features a 5.0-liter V8 with dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. A 4-speed automatic transaxle sends up to 320 HP and 317 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels. Some service records are provided in the gallery, showing the power steering rack replaced in 2014, and the timing belt, water pump, thermostat, engine drive belts, cooling hoses, and rollers replaced in 2016. Additionally, the CARFAX report shows service in January 2020 including an oil and filter change and replacements of the spark plugs and ignition wires, crankshaft position sensor, fuel pressure regulator, and fuel pump.

@husker_boxster yes all the windows work as they should. The car is mechanically in very good working order. The excellent and beautiful. The interior is totally complete. The undercarriage has no rust or blemishes that wouldn't come off with a $2,000 Dry ice cleaning. You can bid with confidence that this car is ready to enjoy!

Responding to : back up your claims with more than just opinion and less than circumstantial evidence.
Been looking at many 928s and Personally I have not seen the amount of rust on the underside of a car with such low miles.

As for your mileage quandry, I’m not sure what you’re basing your opinion off of. The carfax history is consistent and shows use as reflected by the odometer. Furthermore, the condition of the interior and exterior of this car is immaculate, and would indicate to me that this car is an extremely low mileage car.
To drive the point home, this baseless suggestion that the odometer has been replaced or tampered with is not founded on any evidence to support such an outlandish claim.
In the future I would suggest being able back up your claims with more than just opinion and less than circumstantial evidence.

All this talk about the timing belt but no mention of the water pump being replaced with tensioner service, pulled. It’s not the belt that fails it’s the associated peripherals that the belt rides on that fails.
How about a pic of the fuse box? Based on the mileage and condition of the underside of the car, has the gear in the odometer ever been replaced? Can you also share the name of the shop that did the timing belt that is in MD?

@smondello70 After testing the following functions today, I can confirm that they all worked as they should:
Foot vent, hot and cold
Mid console vent, hot and cold
Rear passenger vents, hot and cold
front door vents, hot and cold
The fan control worked as it should, low medium and high, along with the AC push button. Once warmed up the car blew warm air (only ran for a minute or two to test this as it’s inside currently) and subsequently blew cold air once called upon to do so.
So yes, every function works and we have also uploaded a pic of the fuse box to the gallery.

@richjs43 The timing belt was replaced at 42k and the subsequently at 44k according to receipts. While I do think this second replacement could have been a bit premature, knowing the owner of this 928 he is about as anal as it gets when it comes to staying on top of service, even going as far as to “over” service some of his cars!

@HK_Motorcars: Awesome 928…the receipts for work previously done reflect several timing belt comments. For example: 4/12/12 timing belt replaced at 42,907 miles. 10/18/14 recommend timing belt replacement (mileage not reflected). 3/13/14 similar timing belt replace recommended. Last one, date not listed, replaced timing belt at 44291 miles….could you please clarify timing belt replacement history. Porsche recommends timing belt replacement every 30,000 to 45,000 miles. thank you so much
@Farmhouse27 The downshifts were intentional, but yes, the auto trans will kick down when you put your foot down. I just prefer the slap shifter so I can time the shifts exactly how I like! Was also showing that it works.

@Capitaltrading Unfortunately our lift arms are 1/2 inch too high to get this car up on it safely.

Hi all,
You’ll notice from the paint meter readouts that the passenger side has had an extra bit of paint applied. Given that this car came with 8-12 mm of paint from the factory, we can deduce that areas on the passenger side have been given an extra 2/3 coat.

yes, there is some minor retouching on the rear passenger side panel, paint matches perfectly and honestly I didn't notice this until I was told about it.
The timing belt was replaced in 2012 then in 2016, which can be seen in the invoice in photo 141.
AC was done in 03'
