Now available for auction is this rare 1988 Porsche 911 Turbo Slant Nose finished in Black over a black partial leather interior.  The M505 Slant Nose option was offered through Porsche’s Special Wishes Program on the 930, and this example represents one of only several hundred U.S. versions ever built.  It was reportedly purchased by the seller from its original owner in 2017, having always been dealer maintained and regularly driven.  A lifelong California car, this 930 remains in excellent, highly original condition while showing approximately 82k miles on the odometer.  It is now being offered by its seller in San Clemente, CA accompanied by original books, tools, service invoices, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

The Black paint on this 930 is described by the seller to be in very good original condition with only slight road-going wear (detailed images are provided in the photo gallery).  Inspired by highly aerodynamic Kremer Racing conversion kits, the Special Wishes M505 option includes handcrafted Flachbau front fenders, boxed rocker panels, and distinctive side air vents.  This example retains factory 16” Fuchs wheels that are currently dressed in Yokohama tires.

Inside, the black partial leather interior is said to have been preserved in excellent condition with all gauges and accessories remaining fully functional including the original Blaupunkt radio.  Other factory options include a steering wheel with a raised hub, automatic heating control, an alarm system, an electric sliding sunroof, and velour carpet in the luggage compartment.  An image of the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity is included in the photo gallery.

The air-cooled 3.3 L flat-six engine is rated at 282 HP and 289 lb.-ft of torque from the factory.  Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 4-speed manual gearbox with a factory optioned limited-slip differential.  This example is reported to have been dealer maintained by its original owner and the seller reportedly carried out a full mechanical inspection and compression test at the time of their purchase in 2017, which yielded excellent results.  This Turbo is said to be in fantastic running order while meeting California emissions standards.

This sale will include a set of 2 keys, original books and manuals, a toolkit, spare tire, car cover, some service invoices, a clean title, and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

Thanks for the interest in my fathers car. I know there were concerns about some of the small imperfections, but rest assured, I tried to take all photos highlighting them in the worst light to not over sell the car. The mileage as I understand was all from the former elderly gentleman that my dad bought the car from. He mentioned that he routinely took the car to Las Vegas.

@Charlie911SC I will call my dad. His support group (my sister, and uncle) are both out of town until Mon.

@hayesproperties My dad purchased the car in 2016 from the original owner in San Diego. My dad initially drove the car to Solana Beach a few times and more recently to Cars and Coffee in San Clemente. It was started up to take these photos. I will try and add a very short video I have. I am not a Porsche guy at all. I restore Datsun Zs. But when starting, I notice a puff of smoke for a few seconds but was told by a Porsche owner that oil get past the valve guides, especially when sitting. Again, I am no expert.

@alper944 Sure looks like chips but most it is dust and lint from garage. The front has the most small chips from the road.

    @CaresioPCAR Hi
Thanks for the explanation. Couple of questions you could answer-when did your Dad buy the car and when was the last time it was driven?

    Thanks

  • alper944 3 years, 3 monthsago

@CaresioPCAR very nice looking car. Looks like there are small rock chips all over the car from the pictures?

Interested Bidders: This Porsche is my fathers. He got ahead of me and posted his 930 before I had the chance to help him. He is elderly and is a 100% caregiver to my mother and is not savvy with computers, unfortunately. He and his brother each purchased a 930 505 Slant nose a few years back as investments. To be honest, I know little about the car and do not live close enough to take more photos. I do know that he drove it very little and has done no major servicing of the car except repairing a small oil leak and an air conditioning freon service. I took these photos a while back and specifically tried to show where I, as a buyer, would have interest. Note the wear on the drivers side door in #47. The prior owner touched up the headlights with black paint as you can see on the #38 and #39. The tires are what came with the car when he bought it. I tried to take photos at angles which would highlight any wear issues. I apologize for not being able to answer specific questions. I believe this is an honest car and probably not represented as it should be in a forum like this. Again, he got ahead of me and my plan to bring it to my home where I could properly assess it and provide thorough mechanical information.

@hayesproperties I agree, I was just hoping it was not rust from below. There are currently three of these on the market-Goldman, this one and Stratas. If this one has had no motor work and 80,000 plus miles, and no seller input to clarify I see a pretty significant discount to the other two-would you agree

@hayesproperties Looks like the seller is MIA. Not sure, but some of the marks in the headlight covers appear to possibly be blobs of touch-up paint.

Sorry, just saw the ID tag on the door jamb so you can ignore that request

  • hayesproperties (registered bidder) 3 years, 4 monthsago

    Hi Seller

More questions on the car. Great looking car but trying to fill in the blanks
Can you post some additional pictures of the chassis ID plate, picture of the paint ID tag under the hood(passenger side), picture of the motor number, copy of the full mechanical exam from 2017 and a cold start, driving video? Any chance you have some pictures of the car on a lift? How old are the tires?

With this many miles on the car do you have any knowledge of any engine rebuild, reseal or engine out service?

In looking at the closeup pictures of the headlight covers, it appears that there is either small drops of water on the cover or small bits of something under the paint-what am I seeing?

Sorry to have you do extra work just looking for clarification on the details

    Thanks

In looking at the photo of the underside of the hood it looks like it was repainted and or the data tag showing options was removed. Do you have any info on that? I am also assuming you didn't receive any sort of window sticker with the car.

    Thanks
