Marking the end of Mercedes' second-longest production run to date, this 1989 Mercedes-Benz 560SL represents the final year of the R107 generation and features a 5.6-liter V8, the most powerful engine available for the North American market. It was originally purchased from a Mercedes-Benz dealer in Hollywood and remained in California for several years before being imported to Canada in 1994. The car was purchased by the seller from a private collection out of Vancouver in March 2024 and now resides in Washington where it is being offered for auction with approximately 162k miles showing on the odometer.
This 560SL is finished in Black (040) with a matching removable hardtop and power-retractable soft top that was replaced in 2023. Equipment includes chrome bumpers, mirrors, and body moldings, front fog lights, a front air dam, an automatic antenna, a dual-tipped muffler, and silver 15” Gullideckel alloy wheels. The seller notes that a three-stage paint correction was recently completed, and two minor accidents occurred in 2004, although no insurance claims were filed. Inside, this SL-Class features Grey leather (278) upholstery with matching carpets, a black upper dashboard, and a wood-trimmed center console. Accessories include a black four-spoke steering wheel, power windows, air conditioning, carpet floor mats, an analog clock, a locking glovebox, an outside temperature indicator, a folding front armrest, and an aftermarket Pioneer stereo. Some imperfections are noted on the wood trim, and all gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.
A naturally aspirated and fuel-injected 5.6-liter V8 SOHC engine delivers up to 227 HP and 287 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 4-speed automatic transmission and a limited-slip differential. Stopping power comes from power-assisted disc brakes at each corner. The suspension includes double wishbones in front, a diagonal swing axle in the rear, and stabilizer bars front & rear.

sr5959. The timing chain was done in 2016 at 134,286, so 28k miles ago.
Transmission was removed and overhauled in 2022 at 159k miles.
eagle32. A/c and heat work and I don't see in the extensive records that a more modern coolant was installed. Remember most of the life of this car has been in northern climates so my guess is it wasn't really necessary.

What ever damage that occurred in 2004 was corrected and not done so under insurance so they were very minor.
There is zero evidence of any accidents or repairs. This car is very clean and drives very well as evidenced in the videos.
