One of 860 Targas delivered to the United States for the Carrera 3.2’s final model year, this 1989 example comes finished in Grand Prix White over a black interior and pairs a 5-speed G50 manual gearbox with its flat-six engine. It has been part of the seller’s collection for over 10 years and was acquired from its previous owner out of Athens, Georgia. The car has been kept in climate-controlled storage ever since while professionally maintained by an in-house technician. Benefitting from a recent major service and supported by a collection of maintenance records, this Carrera Targa is now being offered for auction out of New York showing approximately 106k miles on the odometer.

The exterior is finished in Grand Prix White with a black Targa band and removable roof panel. Equipment includes a front spoiler, integrated front fog lights, and 16” Fuchs alloy wheels measuring 7” wide in front and 8” wide in the rear. The car is said to have been completely refinished over 10 years ago and is described to remain in good overall condition with consistent body panels. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a CARFAX report showing damage in 1992.

The black partial leather interior includes power-operated seats and black carpet floor mats with red Porsche lettering. The sound system features upgraded speakers and a JVC head unit. The A/C compressor has been removed and will be included with the sale should the next owner choose to reinstall it. All gauges are said to be working properly, although the seller notes intermittent issues with the power-operated mirrors.

An air-cooled 3.2-liter flat-six engine sends up to 217 HP to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed G50 manual gearbox. Records are said to be available from previous ownership showing over $23k invested in service. The seller notes that the car has been maintained in-house with routine fluid changes during their ownership and underwent major service within the last 100 miles including a new clutch assembly.

This sale will include a clean title.

@TheGerman Based on the carfax it had an accident before my ownership and based on previous owner and my ownership we never found anything noteworthy that screams out damage of any sorts. Car tracks and drives straight like an arrow. This car will make a great all around driver and being last of the impact bumpers should have plenty of appreciation in the future. Thank you for your interest.

    @ nosubC2de (seller)

to clarify your answer to @Bruce914 this means:
this car had never an accident or another damage???? Pls. respond!

  • Ranger3 (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@seller, so if I understand your response regarding maintenance records, a bidder has to buy the car in order to see the records? Is this correct? Thanks in advance.

  • nosubC2de (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

I also want to clarify the car is a turn key car with major serviced, new clutch and hardware, new slave and master cylinder, new fuel pump, some new fuel lines, new starter and as cliche as it sounds needs a new driver.

  • nosubC2de (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@Brecktex the rear condensor and lines have been removed however the front condenser and fan is intact. I do not know if the system was working since it was never there complete and as a targa we never used it in hot summer days. We had intentions of installing a griffiths AC system if we ever needed it but never found it necessary up here in the North East. The complete griffiths AC system retails $1300 + about 8 -12 hrs installation and would be a better addition for the impact bumper cars over the oem system. All the cabin control and fan operations works fine. Thank you for your interest.

  • nosubC2de (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@Ranger3 Records The sale will include entire binder that will go with the car.

  • nosubC2de (seller) 1 year, 4 monthsago

@Bruce914 There is absolutely no signs or visual cues that would state any serious damage done due to accident. This Carrera tracks straight, starts right up, drives and stops and shifts as should. It is a very common practice for dealers to trade cars in wholesale auctions and use this particular car in there show room to attract new customers and eventually lands to a region where the car is has a wider audience. Dealer practices aside this is an honest clean drivers car ready for much adventure and pleasure. Thank you for your inquiry.

I see 2 years after the reported accident it went through 3 auctions in 1 year. How bad was the damage?

  • Ranger3 (registered bidder) 1 year, 4 monthsago

Since the maintenance "records are said to be available by the previous owner, how do prospective buyers get a look at said records. It would be very helpful to see what was completed in the major service. Thanks

Not mentioned: Rear A/C condenser and lines hsve been removed.
    Addl. A/C Questions for seller:
    - Is the front condenser and its fan intact and condenser ports plugged ?
    - Is the evaporator and its fan intact and was the fan operating correctly when the system was inactivated ?
    - Are all cabin controls & related lines & wires still intact, and did the controls operate correctly when the system was inactivated ?
