It is our pleasure to present this 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet finished in Black. Specified with equipment for Germany, this 911 was produced as one of 242 RoW examples for the final model year in 1989. It was reportedly ordered through Porsche’s Sonderwunsch or “Special Wishes” program with the personal assistance of Ferdinand Alexander “Butzi” Porsche himself, featuring a leather-to-sample interior, straked side vents, a unique front valence, special center console, under dash storage compartments, and more. It was acquired by the current owner in 2017 and has since been treated to over $45k worth of refurbishments and upgrades including a completely reupholstered interior with heated and power-operated seats, keyless entry, red stitching, and a custom sound system. This one-of-a-kind Turbo is now being offered for auction by its owner out of North Carolina showing approximately 25k miles on the odometer.
This Turbo came factory finished in Black (A1) and has been completely covered in a 3M Gloss Black Metallic (1080-G212) vinyl wrap to preserve the paint beneath. Details from Porsche’s Special Wishes department are said to include straked air intakes in the rear fenders and a unique aerodynamic front valence with integrated fog lights. The seller reports the convertible top, seals, and boot cover were replaced in 2018 and that the headlight bulbs have been upgraded to HIDs. Llumar AIR80 / CTX-series window film has also been applied to the glass. The 16” Fuchs wheels feature polished outer lips and a set of Pirelli tires dated from 2016. Inside, you will find a special center console and under-dash storage compartments fitted as exclusive factory options. Under the current ownership, the interior was reupholstered by Jean-Noel Greffeuille of JNG Creations with black Relicate leather and red stitching for the dashboard, center console, and door panels. A set of updated 8-way heated and power-operated seats have also been added and trimmed in matching upholstery. Other additions include Dynapad and Dynamat sound insulation beneath the carpets and doors, an aftermarket keyless entry system, JWest short shifter, LED lighting, a blade-type fuse panel upgrade, and a custom sound system with a Kenwood Excelon KDC-BT958HD stereo, Hybrid Audio Technologies speakers and amplifier, a steering wheel mounted audio controller, microphone, and USB port added to the center console. The seller notes all gauges and accessories remain fully functional apart from some intermittent issues with the boost gauge.
The turbocharged and intercooled 3.3L flat-six engine is paired with 5-speed G50 manual gearbox and an optional limited-slip differential. While the improved G50 gearbox design was offered on the Carrera model from 1987 onwards, the 930 Turbo only carried it for the 1989 model year. The car is said to have been maintained through a local Porsche dealer and independent specialists under the current owner’s care and all corresponding service records have been provided in the gallery for reference.
This sale will include a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and a clean title.The CARFAX report shows a mileage inconsistency in 1997 which is said to have resulted from a documenting error by a previous registrant and/or the Ohio Motor Vehicle Department. An incredibly rare and unique example of Porsche's iconic 930 Turbo, this final-year G50 Cabriolet is not to be overlooked.

For what it's worth, I saw this car at a reputable air-cooled shop whose owner is a well-respected restorer and collector of 930's. This car was brought into the shop for preservation, and the shop owner contacted the car's original owner and documented everything on the car that is listed and represented. With all due respect, Porsche has always made an effort to accommodate customers with special orders (wishes).
@lgprez It would be difficult to call this a, Special Wishes, Sonderwunsch Programme car since the Sonderwunsch Programme ended in year 1985. Sonderwunsch has been thrown around for years, but the fact is the Exclusive Programme started in 1986. Just because a dealership bill of sale labels it a Sonderwunsch doesn't make it so. I know the term "Special Wishes" sounds cooler than "Exclusive", but that was a Porsche Marketing's decision to make. And yes, you can now find out the authenticity of a car with custom mods done by Porsche through their Porsche Classic program.

@nosubstitute4porsche Interior was changed primarily because it was just not aesthetically pleasing - it was a sort of bright mint green on the dash, all 4 seats, door panels and center console. The interior had not been cared for at the right level over the years so yes, the car has very few miles but it is also 33 years old (about 30 years old when we bought it) and it just needed a refresh. A swatch of the original green leather will be included with the sale.
Great car. May I ask why the interior was changed? I have a 50k mile car that is very close to this one and the interior is as it came from the factory. Why would a 25k mile car need to have the interior changed???? ?. thank you

Tomorrow, Wednesday 3/2, Thursday 3/3 or Friday work for me, is that ok for you. I have 3 911's right now. Want to replace a 1992 964 all back Targa with 39K miles with a G-Body cabriolet turbo or turbo body.

A very important not about the odometer Issue on title – The title history of the car records an odometer discrepancy in 1997. Note that the odometer reading from 10/28/1992 reads 4,596 miles and the odometer reading for 6/24/1997 reads 4,915 miles. Information provided by the previous owner is that the 4/4/1997 reading of 2,525 was an error made by the registrant in the state of Ohio. If you read the note on the Carfax report (included in the above dropbox folder) you will see that this discrepancy is only recorded on cars with a 5-digit odometer; this car has and has always had a 6-digit odometer so it could not have “flipped” from 99,999 to 00000 miles. It is therefore not possible for the odometer to “flip” to 0 miles unless the car was driven more than 1M miles in a 4-year window. This odometer discrepancy is an error on the part of the previous registrant and/or the Ohio Motor Vehicle Department.
@Autotrend There is no paperwork that we own that shows these features as they were not publicly-available factory options, which is what you see on the COA. If you look at photo 118 you will see that this car does have the factory designation of a Sonderwunsch car. I am not aware of any factory paperwork that would definitively prove that these other items were part of the original build but given it's origins as a Sonderwunsch car it is the only likely reason for these mods.
The Sonderwunsch program really gave the buyer a blank slate, allowing them to build pretty much anything they could afford, using Porsche's factory to do it. Because they were so very different from the production line cars it is very likely that few of these Special Wishes cars have anything official listing out all the things that owners requested.

@Balzan the car does have 2 clocks - we aren't sure why the original owner would opt to do this, but it was built originally for a European driver so it's possible it was done to keep track of 2 different time zones.
Admittedly I am not an expert on determining the matching numbers on these cars - if you can contact me and let me know exactly what photos you need to see as evidence I will work to get those for you. The car, from our knowledge and certainly under our ownership, has had no mechanical modifications to the drivetrain.
where does it show in the paperwork that the strakes and front spoiler were part of the original build from new? all i see is interior leather color to sample.

Magnificent car. I want to know if the car has 2 clocks? Seems to have one on the dash and one just in front of the shifter. Am I seeing this correctly? Is it a numbers matching and transmittion matching car? Thank you.
