The updated Porsche 928 S4 model was introduced in 1987 and featured redesigned bumpers, a rear wing spoiler, improved creature comforts, larger brakes, and a more powerful 5.0-liter V8 engine. This 1989 example was purchased new by the seller’s father and came factory-finished in Diamond Blue Metallic over a Linen leather interior. The car comes equipped with an optional automatic transmission with a limited-slip differential as well as an electric sunroof, body side moldings, supple leather seats, and increased air conditioning for the rear passengers. Cared for by one owner since new, this 928 S4 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida while showing under 44k miles on the odometer.

The 928 S4 featured a more rounded aerodynamic nose than its predecessor as well as smooth rocker panels, new flush-mounted taillights, and a black polyurethane rear wing. This 1989 example is finished in the uncommon color of Diamond Blue Metallic and features optional body side moldings, an electric sunroof, and polished 16” flat disc “manhole cover” wheels dressed in Michelin tires. Other equipment includes pop-up headlights with washers, integrated front fog lights, a roof-mounted antenna, and a single exhaust outlet. The seller describes the paint to be in good original condition apart from a small rust spot near the rear passenger-side window. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

The Linen and Blue leather interior is appointed with optional supple leather seats and matching carpets. Accessories include optional increased air conditioning for the rear seats, 8-way power-adjustable front seats with driver position memory, power windows and mirrors, automatic climate control, a central locking system, a Porsche Information and Diagnostic System (PIDS), a Blaupunkt Dearborn radio, and an 8-speaker sound system with an amplifier. The seller reports all gauges and accessories to be fully functional.

The 928 S4 is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 DOHC engine with four valves per cylinder, Motronic (LH Jetronic) engine management, knock sensors, and two electric cooling fans. This example is equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission and an optional limited-slip differential that delivers up to 320 HP and 317 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels. The seller states that a complete collection of service records is available dating back to the original purchase and the car was recently inspected by a certified Porsche technician.

This sale will include the original window sticker, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, a spare tire, an air pump, a car cover, a battery charger, service records, and a clean title.

The seller would like you to know: “All documentation since purchase is available including window sticker and all service records. Available on request. My father’s car bought new off the showroom floor. Selling because he recently passed away.”

@Bdeluca28 I unfortunately only got to look under the car from the ground but found no other spots. Only the back window where I showed in the picture is all I found. Car never was driven in the rain and was always garage kept

  • MattyGT (seller) 5 months, 3 weeksago

@Nordscheifer My Dad passed and my Mom had the car moved into her name.

According to the carfax the car was sold to a new owner in December of 2022. Just to be clear was that for estate settlement purposes?

  • Bdeluca28 (registered bidder) 5 months, 3 weeksago

any photos of the under carriage? looks like you are near the water and the salt air can wreak havoc on a cars in the garage.... any photos while it was on a lift?

  • Nordscheifer (registered bidder) 5 months, 3 weeksago

I found he DOT codes on the tires. Looks like manufactured 11th week of 2005.

  • MattyGT (seller) 5 months, 3 weeksago

@Nordscheifer I had a Porsche Mechanic go through the car thoroughly after my Dad had passed. I know he changed all fluids and put a new battery but I’ll have to look at the work order to see if it is a new timing belt. The only rust is the back window. I have heard that spot is common but it is the only spot. I know it’s always been garage kept .No leaks and AC works. I tried the Blaupunkt radio the other day and even though there was power to it I had no sound. All other electronics are in working order. I will have my Mom let myself know about the tires and will get back to you as the car is in her garage. Thanks

  • Nordscheifer (registered bidder) 5 months, 3 weeksago

Very sorry about your father. Been there. It’s difficult to have to sell something he was probably passionate about. Just a few questions. It looks like the timing belt was just replaced and the tires look new. Could you provide the dot # on the tires to see their age? Also I see some rust under the right side rear window (this is common), is there any other area with rust. Finally any leaks on the garage floor, electrical gremlins and does the a/c work? Thanks

  • Silver930 (registered bidder) 5 months, 3 weeksago

I hear only about 10% to 20% of the US 928s4 cars came in manual. So most are like this in Automatic trans form.
All the later 928gt came with manual
And the later 928GTS again about 10% to 20% came in manual.

@BigTomSesto1962 Its a Florida car and all original. I assume it’s satisfactory for California emissions but you probably know more about that than myself. He drove it about once a week the last few years

  • MattyGT (seller) 5 months, 3 weeksago

@BigTomSesto1962 Yes Tom. I put up a start up video and a drive video. Just filmed Last week. Runs good. Selling because my Dad recently passed. The video of the walk around gives a lot of information about the car.

    Hi from L.A.
Currently drivable? How far and often? Currently registered in FLA as of 2023/2024? Smogged, if necessary, in FLA?
