Up for auction is this beautifully-executed 1989 944 Turbo S racecar finished in a custom Rothman’s livery.  This 944 was purchased by the current owner two and a half years ago from a seller in North Carolina.  After driving it casually for a short period of time, the owner commissioned Tony Henderson of Performance Plus to convert this 944 into a competitive, track oriented racecar.  Having barely been driven since the conversion, this 944 Turbo S is now being offered for auction showing approximately 65k miles on the odometer by its seller in New York.

Finished in a custom Rothman’s livery, this 944 certainly looks the part while paying tribute to Porsche’s racing heritage.  The seller notes the exterior to be in excellent condition with original Gold Metallic paint preserved underneath the wrap.  Modifications include a Broadfoot Racing GT2 wide-body kit, a lightweight fiberglass hood, carbon fiber spoilers from Good Aero, and gold painted Forgeline 17x10 and 17x12 lightweight wheels which are currently mounted with Hoosier R7 tires.  The rear and side windows have also been replaced with Lexan units for maximum weight reduction and driver safety.  The Carfax does show a minor damage report and the seller confirms that this car did not sustain any kind of noteworthy damage.

This 944’s black leather interior has been stripped down and transformed into an all-business racing cockpit.  A few modifications include a full roll-cage, a removable MOMO steering wheel with GT3 hub, steering column mounted LED shift lights, and a Coolsuit setup with a fan control switch for helmet connection.  An HPD racing seat has also been installed along with a neck restraint and other track-mandated safety equipment.  Handy boost and air/fuel gauges have been integrated into the center console giving the driver easy access to essential data.  All gauges and electrical systems are reported to be fully functional.

This 944 carries a 2.5L inline 4-cylinder turbocharged engine rated at about 250 HP stock.  This 944 sends power to the rear wheels by way of a smooth 986 6-speed manual transmission.  The 944 Turbo S boasts a factory claimed 0-60 time of approximately 5.7s with a top speed of 162mph.  A truly uncompromising racecar build, this 944 highlights an extreme boost in performance thanks to the following upgrades:

@GRANDPRIXCAFE the engine was refreshed when car was built 3 yrs ago. Refreshing was bearings, rings, seals etc.

The car has only 1 track day shakedown since being built...never raced.
