A Porsche 911 Classic Reimagined by Singer, the “Dartmouth Commission” is finished in Delicate Blue over a custom Cinnabar woven leather interior. It was optioned with a hand-built 4.0L flat-six from Ed Pink Racing Engines in California as well as a titanium exhaust system, ceramic intake plenum, large Brembo brakes, Ohlins suspension, a center-fill hood, 917 custom wood shift knob, and an external oil filler. Delivered to its owner in April 2022, this one-of-a-kind Singer has traveled just over 100 miles and is now being offered for auction out of Massachusetts.

Beginning with a 1989 Porsche 964 Carrera 4 Coupe, the car was comprehensively disassembled before the unibody was media blasted to bare metal and treated for rust prevention. Additional chassis reinforcements and custom fabrication were used to accommodate the new backdated carbon fiber bodywork. The Dartmouth Commission is finished in Delicate Blue with ghosted Porsche stripe graphics on either side. Optional features include an external oil filler lid, a hood with central fuel filler, nickel-plated brightwork, painted rear bumperettes, and red brake calipers with white lettering. The 17” forged aluminum Fuchs-style RS wheels come finished in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires and the seller states clear Xpel paint protection film has been applied over the full exterior.

The cabin is upholstered in Cinnabar Italian leather with woven "Robb Report" suede-mix inserts, contrasting Geranium/Larkspur stripes, and Delicate Blue stitching. The lower panels are trimmed in darker Elsinore leather, the roof is lined with perforated Ivory leather, and the floors are covered in Chocolate velour carpeting with rubber overmats. Accessories include 8-way Recaro seats with Piano Black backings, drilled floorboards and pedals, a double-wrapped leather MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, brass seat grommets, early-style 911 VDO gauges, a high-output stereo system with a subwoofer, and a custom 917 wood shift knob.

Housed in a quilted leather-lined engine compartment, the naturally aspirated 4.0L flat-six was meticulously developed and hand-built by the engineers at Ed Pink Racing Engines in partnership with Cosworth. This engine retains the case of a 964 and uses a custom crankshaft along with new pistons, cylinders, connecting rods, cams, cylinder heads, throttle bodies, a ceramic intake plenum, and an optional titanium exhaust system. Up to 400 HP and 315 lb.-ft of torque are sent to the rear wheels through a custom 6-speed G50 manual gearbox with a limited-slip differential, allowing for acceleration from 0-60 MPH in as little as 3.3 seconds. Stopping power comes from large Brembo brakes and handling is supported by Ohlins suspension with Phantom Road tuning. Each Singer 911 is thoroughly tuned and tested prior to delivery, and its onboard data logging and diagnostics abilities allow remote access for service wherever the car is located.

This sale will include a clean title and associated manuals.

Oh no, blue smoke at start-up? That engine must be all worn out by now! Lol. Yeah Ed Pink was REALLY known for monster Hemi's for drag racing back in the day. I don't understand the pricing of these cars, but I can certainly appreciate the workmanship. GL

@Myturbo2 Williams engines are used in the DLS study cars. The standard cars, of which this is one, all have motors built by Ed Pink Racing. The 4.0 motor is the largest one they assemble. Hope this helps…..

  • sdagley (registered bidder) 1 year, 6 monthsago

@Myturbo2 Ed Pink used to build the 962 engines for Jim Busby Racing/BFGoodrich team (according to a 962 tech presentation Jim Busby did at the 1988 Porsche Parade)

  • Myturbo2 (registered bidder) 1 year, 6 monthsago

Just a question. I’m curious on the Ed Pink engine build. I recognize them as being more of a big V8 builder though obviously certainly capable of assembling any engine type/configuration but, I was under the impression that Singer was a joint venture with Williams F1 supplying the engines…?

  • Nuno4588 (seller) 1 year, 6 monthsago

@Pureos thanks for the good wishes.

  • Pureos (registered bidder) 1 year, 6 monthsago

@noahkl Strange!! 1500 profit for shift knob. Thats one thing why Singer is so expensive. And if you compare that we build similar cars for about 300k plus base car you can see how much the name Singer the is worth actually. But Rob was the first and the cars are really famous! So wish you good luck for auction.

    A few additional things:
    1. I apologize for the poor quality images and video I added yesterday. People had asked for those and I did not have time to engage a professional. As previously stated, the car is new and in perfect condition.
    2. Included items not mentioned in the listing; a custom Singer cover (never used), a lithium battery tender and the Singer Book “one more than 10” signed by Rob Dickinson. Also all of the delivery wraps that were covering the seats, steering wheel and door sills.
Let me know if there are any questions. Thanks..

I have added the following: multiple static pictures, a cold start from inside the car, a walk around with the car running. Please note; the guy doing most of the talking is not me but the owner of the storage facility. He is talking about his cars, not mine. Also, the blue smoke on cold start is not abnormal given the car has been sitting for some time. It cleared after 1-2 minutes as always. Thanks!!

@Sydmachine yes, they are the 8-way Recaros. Sorry about that! Originally thought about sport seats but changed my mind…

  • Sydmachine (registered bidder) 1 year, 6 monthsago

Yes. Thanks. The listing says “8-way Recaro touring seats” and the build sheet says “Sport 4-way”. I believe they are the later. Can you confirm, please?

  • Nuno4588 (seller) 1 year, 6 monthsago

@Sydmachine I found the build sheet and added it just now. Hope this helps….

@starlightcoupe fair question. We have moved to the city and I cannot use it here. The car took way longer to be built than anticipated (Covid etc….). I had expected the car a couple of years ago but that did not happen. It is really tough to let it go but I think it is too nice to sit in a storage unit 99% of the time.
