Representing the second generation of the BMW 3-Series, the E30 is a popular choice among enthusiasts for its impeccable driving characteristics. This 1990 325i is finished in silver over a brown leather interior and features a GM LS6 V8 engine and a T56 6-speed manual transmission swapped in from a Cadillac CTS-V as well as new paint, a reupholstered interior, an E36 steering rack, CA Tuned coilovers, a custom valved exhaust, and more. This E30 is now being offered for auction by its owner out of California showing just under 197k miles on the odometer.

This E30 has had a full glass-out respray in its original silver color. Equipment includes quad headlights, polished trim, power-adjustable mirrors, chrome kidney grilles, a front air dam with integrated fog lights, and dual exhaust tips. Other details include aftermarket wheels, red taillights, a black front lip spoiler, and Hella foglight covers. The seller states that one crack shows in the clear coat of the passenger fender and recommends replacing the tires. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.

Inside, this E30 has been reupholstered with brown leather and features a new headliner, a replacement dashboard, an onboard trip computer, power accessories, working air conditioning, and VDO instrumentation. The seller reportedly installed a new head unit, speakers, and a subwoofer mounted in the trunk.

This E30 325i is powered by a 5.7-liter LS6 V8 borrowed from a Cadillac CTS-V, producing approximately 400 HP and 395 lb.-ft. of torque. The rear wheels are driven by way of a T56 6-speed manual transmission. The seller states to have fitted aftermarket CA Tuned coilovers, a 5-lug conversion using an E36 front and Z3 rear, a brake booster setup from an E28, a Mishimoto radiator, and rack and pinion steering from an E36. A custom exhaust system was also fabricated including a valved muffler. The seller states that all fluids were replaced when the swap was completed approximately 10k miles ago and an oil change was recently performed.

This sale will include a clean title.

@Youngconfucius Chassis has 197k, the engine and transmission were said to have around 90k miles when the swap was performed around 10k miles ago, which would put the engine and transmission around 100k miles now.

  • Youngconfucius (registered bidder) 3 months, 3 weeksago

@Youngconfucius is the 197k on the block or on the chassis?

  • MJomaa (seller) 3 months, 3 weeksago

@Youngconfucius just checked that was the rubber oring behind the horn button, it's ok now. Engine was not rebuilt before the swap.

  • Youngconfucius (registered bidder) 3 months, 3 weeksago

@MJomaa there’s a black wire hanging out of the horn button. What is that? Also was the engine ever refreshed or rebuilt?

  • MJomaa (seller) 3 months, 3 weeksago

@Youngconfucius horn works, I'm assuming you're talking about the white wire, it's a phone charging cable

  • Youngconfucius (registered bidder) 3 months, 3 weeksago

Does the horn work? What’s the wire sticking out in the driving video?

  • MJomaa (seller) 3 months, 3 weeksago

@Levi it does have AC, all the original e30 components were replaced, evaporator, condensed, expansion valve, hoses, and condenser fan. Compressor is the stock compressor that comes with the motor but it is brand new as well. One note is the AC wasn't wired to disengage on higher RPM so it is not advised to run it while driving the car very hard as you will overspin the compressor and cause premature failure.

  • MJomaa (seller) 3 months, 3 weeksago

@bergeyscustomrods do it please, don't wait last minute, this is something that will easily cost +60k today to replicate with all the labor involved as well as paint, interior, price of an e30 etc. there is a very reasonable reserve on the auction but we want to sell the car.

  • MJomaa (seller) 3 months, 3 weeksago

@Neverlift.Eng it'll be very difficult to get you the pictures under the plastic covers with this much time left on the auction as I don't have the car with me. It's parked at home, behind the plastic covers it's just the wiring harness, the ECU is in the glove box, under the plastic covers of the engine it's your typical LS6 nothing modified. The brakes are hydro boost setup from a 535i e28 pedal feel is very nice. Expensive to do but opted for that instead of manual brakes. No recent compression or Dyno numbers, those dyno numbers were from around 10k miles ago. I'll check to see if the diff has the tag on it. I know for sure it's not 3.73 as when it has a 3.73 it wasn't driveable it was way too short.

  • Levi (registered bidder) 3 months, 3 weeksago

Looks like great fun! I’m in AZ…is there AC in it? Haven’t seen any comments, sorry if maybe I’ve missed

Quality work. Very nice interior. Classic. There has got to be a reserve... There is a stack of cash spent. at 750. with 6 hrs to go... I may have to bid.

  • Neverlift.Eng (registered bidder) 3 months, 3 weeksago

Cool. I had a similar swap so a few questions. Any pictures underneath the plastic engine covers ? Brakes are hydro boost ? The diff tag on the upper right bolt of the cover should read the ratio. Also any recent compression or dyno #s. Thanks

@racecarrobbie brakes are e36 front and z3 rear since it is 5 lug swapped using components from those cars. The wires zip tied are for the transmission for the reverse lockout and the skip shift solenoid

  • racecarrobbie (registered bidder) 3 months, 3 weeksago

Are the brakes upgraded? What is zip tied to the starter? (photo 143)

    @trackjunkie61 no reinforcements

  • trackjunkie61 (registered bidder) 3 months, 3 weeksago

    Any chassis reinforcement?

  • MJomaa (seller) 3 months, 3 weeksago

@pancuronium diff from what I remember is a 2.93 LSD. I think originally it had a 3.73 but was too short.

  • MJomaa (seller) 3 months, 3 weeksago

@Vr6R32 the owner who originally built the car provided engine and transmission. According to him around 90k miles on the combo. Engine was resealed, exterior gaskets only rear main, valve covers, water pump, thermostat etc. engine was not open. After the swap it was tuned by New Era Performance, they're LS running specialists.

  • pancuronium (registered bidder) 3 months, 3 weeksago

Looks like fun! Was the rear diff swapped as well? Limited slip? Gear ratio? Listing definitely begs for a driving video.

  • trackjunkie61 3 months, 3 weeksago

Bid in the amount of $500

  • Vr6R32 (registered bidder) 3 months, 3 weeksago

Any more info on the donor motor? Mileage at time of swap? Was it opened up at all? Etc.?
    Thx

  • MJomaa (seller) 3 months, 4 weeksago

@racecarrobbie Yes JMP did the swap, full disclosure I am one of the owners at JMP, this car was built for a client, he sold it to me and then my brother bought it from me. I'll look for the invoice but can't promise I'll find it as that was over 4 years ago and since then we have transitioned into a new Point of sale system.

  • racecarrobbie (registered bidder) 3 months, 4 weeksago

Thanks. Also, did JMP Autowerkz do the swap? Do you have any receipts/paperwork?

  • MJomaa (seller) 3 months, 4 weeksago

@racecarrobbie Will get a close up picture of the crack and upload it, will try to get a driving video today as well.

  • racecarrobbie (registered bidder) 3 months, 4 weeksago

Awesome build. Maybe I missed it but is there a close up of the crack in the clear coat of the passenger fender? Also, is there anything that is not working? Do you have a driving video?

  • 02chuck 4 monthsago

Yea I figured as much. Thanks Good luck with the auction I'll be watching and dreaming.

  • MJomaa (seller) 4 monthsago

Let me start by welcoming everyone and thank you for your interest in the e30. This e30 is currently owned by my brother. Previously owned by me, I'm handling the auction as I have prior experience in doing an auction here on Pcar market as well as having a lot more knowledge about the car than my brother does(he just drives lol). I'll be here to answer any questions you might have, please feel free to reach out and let's get this baby Sold.

  • MJomaa (seller) 4 monthsago

@02chuck thank you for your kind comment, it sure is a hoot. The e30 is not compliant with BAR.

  • 02chuck 4 monthsago

A well done build. I see a California license plate would this mean that is was constructed to comply to California rules for engine conversion? I see exhaust O2 sensors but no catalytic convertors. I love the E30's and the horsepower in this one would be a gas to hoon around.
