One of the fastest production sedans in the world upon its debut at the 1989 Geneva Motor Show, the B10 Bi-Turbo is an exclusive high-performance version of BMW’s E34 535i sedan created by German automobile manufacturer Alpina. It features a completely overhauled engine with twin Garrett turbochargers along with modified suspension, larger front brakes, aerodynamic spoilers, and a custom Alpina cloth interior. Despite costing nearly twice as much as a contemporary BMW M5, the B10 Bi-Turbo went on to become the best-selling Alpina model up to that point with 507 examples built in total. This 1990 example is finished in Diamond Black Metallic and is said to benefit from $13k worth of refurbishment completed between 2020 and 2021. Showing just over 84k kilometers on the odometer, this rare Alpina B10 Bi-Turbo is now being offered for auction out of Missouri.
The Diamond Black Metallic bodywork is adorned with Alpina accessories including a front spoiler, trunk-mounted wing, exhaust tips, and traditional 20-spoke 17” wheels with locking center caps. The car was also originally optioned with Alpina exterior graphics that have since been professionally removed and will accompany the car separately. In recent years, the bumpers and hood were refinished for cosmetic purposes followed by a full-exterior paint correction and ceramic coating. The car rides on a set of Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 tires with production date codes from 2019. Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.
Inside, the cabin is fitted with Recaro sport seats trimmed in anthracite Alpina cloth along with a leather-wrapped MOMO steering wheel, Alpina floor mats, a wooden gear knob, and Alpina-branded instrumentation. An Alpina production plaque is also mounted on the center console ahead of the shifter that reads “ BMW / ALPINA B10 BI-TURBO 0053.” Factory features include power windows and mirrors, automatic air conditioning, an electric-sliding sunroof, and a sound system. The seller notes a modified Blaupunkt radio has been installed and the original BMW cassette stereo is included as well.
Upon arrival at Alpina, the stock BMW 3.5-liter engine was completely dismantled and upgraded with forged Mahle pistons, stronger connecting rods, a new camshaft, and a pair of water-cooled Garrett T25 turbochargers breathing through a stainless-steel exhaust system and electronically controlled wastegates. The rear wheels are driven through a Getrag 5-speed manual gearbox upgraded by Alpina with a Fitchel & Sachs clutch and a 25% limited-slip differential. Other Alpina upgrades include linear-rate springs, front and rear anti-roll bars, Bilstein-damped front struts, electronically controlled hydraulic rear shock absorbers, and larger 13” front brakes. Recent service is said to include a new BMW A/C compressor, front end alignment, new control bushings, new exhaust manifold gasket, motor mounts, spark plugs and wires, a new thermostat, t-stat, O-rings, and oil level sending unit.
This sale will include a clean title along with a partial set of new Alpina exterior graphics.
The seller would like you to know: “It was sold to Herman Linn, a BMW motorcycle dealer in Germany. The car was later shipped to Japan, where it remained until 2016. Emerging from a Japanese collection, it came to Canada and then was imported to a collector in Phoenix, AZ who owned it until 2022."

Love rare cars. For two years I restored and sold German spec BMWs and mercs. Two of my personal cars where a 1985 Swartz black M635CSI and 1984 745i. They don’t build cars like these anymore. I’ll be in this one. My wife is going to tell me that this car is too old. ?
