This RoW 1990 Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Coupe was imported from Japan in April 2023 and subsequently underwent a custom RS-inspired restoration by the specialists at Modifica Classica with the help of KMW Motorsports. Finished in its original color of Satin Black Metallic, this 964 received RS-style exterior accessories, 18” BBS E88 3-piece wheels, and a new black leather interior featuring heated Recaro Sportster CS seats, Rennline aluminum trim, a Function First shift knob, a MOMO steering wheel, a Porsche Classic radio with Apple CarPlay, and more. This chassis includes a new H&R coilover suspension and the 3.6-liter flat-six engine has been overhauled and modified with a Fabspeed RSR dual exhaust system along with the installation of a new Sachs clutch kit for the 5-speed manual gearbox. Accompanied by extensive invoices detailing its uncompromising restoration, this custom 964 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida.

This 964 was previously refinished in its original color of Satin Black Metallic and has been recently modified with RS-style front brake ducts, aero mirrors, and an FVD RS-style rear bumper with a second exhaust outlet. Other modifications include the deletion of the front bumper license plate recess, refinished brake calipers in satin black, and the installation of 18” BBS E88 3-piece wheels with aluminum lug nuts and new Hankook Ventus V12 tires. The seller notes the hood badge has been replaced and the original D90 alloy wheels are included in the sale along with the original flag-style mirrors and original OEM exhaust. Detailed images are provided in the gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.

The Black leather interior has been refurbished and customized with a pair of heated Recaro Sportster CS bucket seats in Napa leather as well as a MOMO Mod 07 three-spoke steering wheel and an anodized aluminum Function First performance shift knob. Several black anodized aluminum Rennline trim pieces from were also fitted including perforated door handles, the ignition lock surround, and an integrated phone mount. The sound system features a modern Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) head unit with Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay. The climate control system has also been overhauled with a new control unit, heater hoses, and an R134a refrigerant conversion.

The seller adds that the aftermarket Recaro seats save approximately 39 lbs. over the original seats and the original four-spoke steering wheel is included in the sale. All gauges and accessories are said to be fully functional.

Power comes from an air-cooled 3.6-liter M64 flat-six engine which was removed from the car during the restoration and serviced with new timing cover seals, cam seals, and valve cover gaskets. The engine breathes through an upgraded Fabspeed RSR exhaust system with headers and sends power to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed G50 manual gearbox with a new Sachs clutch kit. Other restoration items included a new H&R Deep coilover suspension, replacement of the engine bay insulation pad, a new battery, and an oil change in October 2023. The seller has provided the engine compression and leak-down test results below.

  • Cylinder 1 - 180 PSI / 5%
  • Cylinder 2 - 190 PSI / 4%
  • Cylinder 3 - 190 PSI / 4%
  • Cylinder 4 - 180 PSI / 5%
  • Cylinder 5 - 190 PSI / 4%
  • Cylinder 6 - 200 PSI / 3%

This sale will include the original D90 wheels, steering wheel, exhaust system, a record logbook from Japan, and all documentation from the recent restoration by Modifica Classica.

The seller would like you to know: “Thank you for visiting my auction! This 964 Carrera 2 Outlaw RS tribute is an absolute dream to drive. This is a true driving enthusiast's car with tasteful, thoughtful, and methodically appointed details throughout the interior and exterior. I have personally owned several generations of air-cooled 911s including several 964s, 993s, and G-Body coupes, and take pride in building these cars to the point of what I feel is perfection.  This car absolutely rips and also provides a grown-up extremely refined analog driving experience.  There is nothing quite like a 964 dialed in, and this one is as close to perfection for me as it gets with an incredible stance on the H&R deep coilovers, the BBS Motorsport E88 wheels and all the small things such as the euro detent delete in the front bumper with RS air ducts and the tailored Recaro Sportster CS seats in Napa leather with heat.”

Before undertaking this incredible project build, I took great care in selecting the cleanest possible 964 C2 I could find. The future owner can rest assured that this car is an exceptionally well-maintained example. This 964 is an absolutely fantastic drive, undoubtedly one of the greats. Wishing bidders good luck as we near the auction's end in just a few hours.

@maxmilford the front bumper uses plastic weld to eliminate the euro detent while using minimal filler. I've done these front euro-detent deletes on a few 964s and 993s and it makes a huge difference to the overall finish and understated elegance of the front bumper. Also, the plastic welding method is critical because lightweight-ness is everything!!!! ;)

  • jscaliajr 6 months, 2 weeksago

Car looks amazing. When you come across a turn key, sorted example like this you not only get the experience of it, you get the expertise that went into making sure it was all done in a way to deliver a finished product like this. Peace of mind and all the time and aggravation spared of sorting it out on your own. I take my 84 Turbo (Kremer Slant) to KMW.
The person who acquired this example will be very pleased on the level of attention that has gone into making sure it was all done with no compromises.

  • modificaclassica (seller) 6 months, 2 weeksago

@KristianM very close to OEM height, negligible difference, maybe an inch or so more headroom with the Recaro Sportster CS than the previous standard seats. However, the supple Napa leather is a lightyear away as far as modernizing aesthetic & comfort and feel of fit and finish. This is also the most premium iteration of the Recaro Sportster CS as these are heated, perfect for cooler fall days especially in December, although we have very few of those in South Florida. ;)

  • modificaclassica (seller) 6 months, 2 weeksago

@964993965 this recent service was engine out primarily to address valve gaskets and timing covers, seal up everything as these are prone to minor leaks. While we were in there we replaced the clutch with a new SACHS kit because the throw out bearing was wearing and the clutch was determined beyond putting back in without replacing. Compression numbers are flawless, and the motor runs extremely well. This is literally the best driving 964 I’ve ever run. Thanks for looking and best of luck!

  • KristianM (registered bidder) 6 months, 2 weeksago

Do the Recaro seats sit at the same height as the stock seats, or do they change the headroom in the car (up or down)?

  • 964993965 (registered bidder) 6 months, 2 weeksago

Was the engine overhauled if so
Do you have the record for that.

  • modificaclassica (seller) 6 months, 2 weeksago

@Mspohn no Limited Slip Differential, but I just replaced the clutch and throw out bearing during the engine out service when we did the valve cover gaskets, timing covers, cam seals, etc. This is absolutely a gem to drive, tons of power and the C2 is very lightweight compared to my previous 964 C4.

  • Mspohn (registered bidder) 6 months, 2 weeksago

    Does she have an LSD?

  • mjsailing (registered bidder) 6 months, 2 weeksago

  • modificaclassica (seller) 6 months, 2 weeksago

@DSL this is the Fabspeed RSR exhaust with headers kit without cats; however, I have all the original OEM exhaust parts as well, so in theory could be retrofitted for a state inspection.
