We are pleased to offer this 1990 Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Coupe finished in Black over a black leather interior.  Acquired by the current owner in September of 2020, this 964 has since been treated to over $40k worth of high-end upgrades including an FVD Golden Rod shifter, Bilstein PSS10 coilovers, a Fabspeed Maxflo exhaust system, Brembo big brake kit, RS sway bar kit, 993 master cylinder, Elephant Racing front strut brace, and more.  The cabin has also been fitted with a Porsche Classic Radio, Rennline accessories, custom MOMO steering wheel, and custom reupholstered seats in black leather with two-tone blue Alcantara inserts.  Also benefitting from an engine reseal and new clutch installed under prior ownership, this tastefully modified 964 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California with approximately 95k miles showing on the odometer.

This 964 comes finished in nonmetallic Black and sports early flag-style mirrors along with a speed-activated rear spoiler.  Modifications installed by the current owner include a set of Rennline LED headlamps, FVD RS-style front brake ducts, clear turn signal lenses, blue-painted brake calipers, and HRE 527M wheels in Satin Black.  The seller reports some minor cosmetic imperfections throughout the exterior including paint chips on the door edges, additional images are provided in the gallery.  The CARFAX report shows damage to have occurred to the rear end in 2004 and again in 2006. The upgraded 18” wheels come dressed in a set of new Pirelli P Zero Rosso tires. Alternate sets of Porsche 16" Design 90 and 17" Cup 2 wheels are also said to accompany the sale.

Inside, the cabin has been recently fitted with custom reupholstered seats trimmed in black leather with two-tone blue Alcantara inserts.  New aluminum Rennline pedal covers have also been installed along with Rennline aluminum track mats, a custom MOMO Prototipo steering wheel, and a sound system upgrade by La Jolla Audio including new rear speakers and a Porsche Classic radio.  The windshield, door, and rear window gaskets have been recently replaced and the A/C system has been upgraded to R134a by the specialists at Makellos Classics.

Power comes from an air-cooled 3.6L flat-six engine paired with a 5-speed G50 manual gearbox.  The engine was resealed and overhauled under the prior ownership in 2014 at just over 91k miles along with the installation of new CV boots, steering rack boots, a new clutch, and flywheel.  Since acquiring the car about a year ago, the current owner has also installed numerous upgrades including an FVD Golden Rod short shift kit, 993 clutch master cylinder, Fabspeed Maxflo exhaust system, Bilstein PSS10 coilovers, new front control arm bushings, rear trailing arm bushings, an RS adjustable sway bar kit, heavy-duty rear drop links, a steering rack reinforcement and bushing kit, Elephant Racing front strut brace, and Bremo big brake kit with floating rotors. Some invoices are provided for reference in the gallery.

This sale will include a set of two keys, owner's manuals, a toolkit, service records, two additional sets of wheels, and a clean title.

@ZubinK I don't know how carfax reports about airbag. There are no airbags in the rear only the steering and passenger so not sure.

  • ZubinK (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

I guess there was confusion in that the steering wheel isn’t what I was concerned about. I was just trying to figure out in the 2004 accident where it shows airbag deployment when the car was hit in the rear was just trying to figure out why the airbag would deploy when as far as I know there are no airbags in the rear and no curtain airbags either unless I’m mistaken so was just trying to see if you knew any info about what happened.

@ZubinK I still have the old steering wheel

  • rkmca (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@ZubinK I don't know anything about the accidents. Previous owner who I purchased the car from could not find out more either and he also mentioned that when a mechanic checked, they could not find any issues with the rear bumper.
I replaced the steering with momo and did not see any issues with the old steering unless it was replaced back in 2004 or 2006.

  • ZubinK (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Do you know any of the history of what happened in the two accidents reported to Carfax (assume this both happened during the previous ownership). The 2004 accident lists damage to the rear with airbag deployment. I wasn’t aware of any rear airbags so was the steering wheel airbag deployed ? Any info on the 2006 accident report ? Thanks in advance.

It should read new engine oil cooler. Sorry about the typo.

  • rkmca (seller) 2 years, 4 monthsago

@avonwaldow I've some paperwork from previous owner about oil changes, some other service work done, engine re-seal, clutch work etc. I've paperwork for all the modifications done as posted, also added a new OEM cooler.
Yes, I'll permit a PPI from the local porsche dealer or an well known local porsche service place.

  • avonwaldow (registered bidder) 2 years, 4 monthsago

Greetings: What servicing records are available? Also, will you permit a PPI? Thanks very much, Arnie.

Hello everyone, welcome and thank you for looking at my 964 and thank you for bidding. Please let me know if you have any question and I’ll try to answer. If any local SoCal person would like to see the car, would be happy to welcome you to see it personally.
