Up for auction is this 1990 Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Cabriolet finished in Grand Prix White over a black interior. Debuted with major revisions to styling, aerodynamics, suspension, steering, and brakes, as well as the introduction of a new twin-plug 3.6L engine, the 964 generation represents one of the most significant developments of the Porsche 911. This 1990 Cabriolet has spent most of its life in Texas and has undergone a full engine rebuild within the last 4k miles which included new pistons and cylinders, freshly machined cylinder heads, and upgraded head studs. Accompanied by original accessories, service records, and a clean CARFAX report, this Carrera 2 Cabriolet is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Texas while showing approximately 95k miles on the odometer.
This 964 is finished in Grand Prix White with a black cabriolet soft top. The car is said to have been previously treated to a high-quality repaint in its originally specified color with all factory labels and stickers remaining in place. Detailed images are provided in the photo gallery. The aerodynamics of the 964 generation were significantly improved with flush-mounted exterior bumpers and headlights as well as a new speed-activated rear spoiler. The original tonneau cover has been retained and this Carrera 2 rides on factory 17” Design 90 wheels which come dressed in a set of new Kumho tires.
Inside, this 964 sports a black partial leather interior which is described to remain completely original with the exception of an updated Blaupunkt radio. Factory options include power-operated and heated front seats, intensified windscreen washers, headlamp cleaners, cruise control, and an amplifier. The electric cabriolet top is reported to be working properly along with all other gauges and accessories aside from the A/C which is currently non-functional.
This Carrera 2 is equipped with an air-cooled 3.6L M64 flat-six engine which features dry-sump lubrication, electronic fuel injection, and a DME controller with twin-plug ignition. As much as 247 HP is sent to the rear wheels through a 5-speed G50 manual transmission. The 964 was also the first 911 to have been fitted with ABS brakes and power steering, as well as coil springs and shock absorbers in place of torsion bars. The engine is said to have been fully rebuilt in 2005 within the last 4k miles by the reputable air-cooled specialists at Mayo Performance. The rebuild included all new pistons and cylinders, upgraded machined cylinder heads, new gaskets, upgraded 993-spec head studs, and the installation of a new clutch.
This sale will include a collection of service records, the original spare tire, toolkit, and a clean title. This well-maintained 964 may very well be the air-cooled Cabriolet you've been searching for, do not let this opportunity pass you by.

@Exton I live in South Carolina, so AC would be important. Would you sell subject to PPI and you fixing the AC?

As we wind the auction down to the last hour I also wanted to emphasize the engine rebuild. This is a $20-$25k rebuild. All early (1989-1991) 964 engines had issues since they did not have head gaskets, which inevitably made them leak oil everywhere. This car has had a full engine rebuild which included new machined heads with gaskets, new head studs, and new 3.6 pistons and cylinders; all done by one of the best aircooled 911 shops around. This engine has many, many miles of use and enjoyment to come! Good luck bidding
Hi Bturner, I never got an estimate to fix the A/C since I mostly drive it with the top down. I also submitted a walkaround video, driving video, and cold start video to PcarMarket.
A new video has been added to the listing page.

Zero rust on the car. @rsabeebe, feel free to send me a direct message to set up a time to come look at it. The maps are indeed included and yes Mayo Performance is not only one of the best aircooled shops in Texas, but in the country!
i see some receipts from Mayo, which anyone in this area knows is a quality shop, but i really like the maps that are shown and i assume included.
i live in plano. can you tell me roughly where the car located? curious if seeing it in person is a possibility. thanks.
