Considered one of the most technologically advanced sports cars of its era, the original Acura NSX was designed and crafted at the Honda Global Research and Development Center in Tochigi, Japan. This 1991 example is powered by a 3.0-liter V6 engine paired with a highly sought-after 5-speed manual transmission featuring a limited-slip differential. Finished in Formula Red over black leather, it features a black roof panel, iconic pop-up headlights, 17”/18” Rays wheels, power-adjustable seats, automatic climate control, cruise control, a Bose sound system, and more. Showing approximately 40k miles on the odometer, this meticulously maintained NSX is now being offered for auction by its seller out of California.
The NSX coupe features an innovative all-aluminum monocoque chassis and body panels, a groundbreaking design for a production car at the time. This example is finished in Formula Red with a black roof panel and pillars and features pop-up headlights, side air intakes, an integrated rear wing, power-adjustable side mirrors, and dual exhaust outlets. It rides on 17″/18″ Rays wheels fitted with staggered-width Nankang tires from 2019 and 2020. Detailed images are provided in the gallery, along with a CARFAX report indicating hail damage in April 2021. As a result, dent repairs were carried out on the front hood, roof panel, front fenders, pillars, door panels, engine cover, and quarter panels. Replacement hood and engine cover struts have also been installed during current ownership.
The interior boasts power-adjustable black leather sports seats and a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpets. It includes automatic climate control, cruise control, a Bose sound system, and a cassette stereo. The stainless-steel door sill plates display the car’s serial number. The seller has replaced the clutch pedal pad and recharged the air conditioning refrigerant. All gauges and electronics are confirmed to be in working order.
Power is derived from a mid-mounted 3.0-liter V6 featuring VTEC variable valve timing and delivers a factory-rated at 270 HP and 210 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The suspension system comprises a four-wheel double-wishbone setup with front and rear stabilizer bars, and braking power is facilitated by NSX-branded calipers over vented rotors at each wheel. Recent maintenance includes fitting CV boots, a clutch primary cylinder, and rear brake pads, along with resurfacing of the rear brake rotors at around 39k miles. The cylinder head gaskets and oil pan were replaced during this service, along with the transmission and an engine-out timing belt services. The air conditioning compressor, thermostat, fuel and air filters, spark plugs, and coolant hoses have also been replaced. Additionally, the car successfully passed a California emissions inspection in August 2022.
This sale will include a clean title.
