Produced in collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and Porsche, the Mercedes-Benz 500E was created in 1989 with the help of Porsche’s engineers to equip a 5.0-liter V8 engine from the SL-Class roadster with the W124 E-Class chassis. This 1991 example comes finished in the unique color of Malachite Green Metallic and was originally delivered to the Principality of Monaco where it has remained under the care of two owners ever since. This iconic sports sedan is now being offered for auction at no reserve by its seller out of Switzerland while showing approximately 184k kilometers on the odometer and accompanied by a Mercedes-Benz Classic Certification.

Compared to the standard W124 models, the 500E could be distinguished by its wider stance, flared fenders, side skirts, and front air dam. Each 500E was hand-assembled by Porsche at Zuffenhausen, transported back to Mercedes-Benz for painting, and finally redelivered to Porsche's "Rössle-Bau" plant where the car was completed, all over the course of a specialized 18-day build process. This example is finished in Malachite Green Metallic (249U) with light green lower body cladding and includes heated insulated glass, a rear window defroster, French-market yellow front driving lights, and a headlamp washer system. It rides on 16” eight-hole alloy wheels dressed in new Michelin tires. The seller describes the exterior to be in very good condition and confirms the original spare wheel is included.

The cabin is appointed with Anthracite (271) leather and matching carpets complemented by wood trim across the dashboard, center consoles, and door panels. The 500E came standard with four leather sports seats which were supplied by Recaro. Amenities include power-adjustable front seats, automatic climate control, an electric sliding sunroof, cruise control, and an original Becker Mexico 2000 stereo. The seller reports all gauges and accessories are working properly.

Derived from the contemporary 500 SL Roadster, the 500E is powered by a 5.0-liter M119 32-valve DOHC V8 engine producing up to 322 HP and 354 lb.-ft of torque. The rear wheels are driven through a 4-speed automatic transmission while stopping power is handled by large disc brakes also borrowed from the 500 SL. The seller states a major service and inspection were completed by a Mercedes-Benz Classic center in May 2023 and the original maintenance booklet is included.

This sale will include owner’s manuals and original documentation along with a spare tire, a toolkit, and a clean title.

@SamSL Yes we will upload pictures of each seat in details so you can see the condition. The front bumper was repainted as it had a mark but other than that the car did not have any body repairs.

@11JM Thank you for your comment. Yes the car has a bit of mileage but it was used over the years by one careful owner from Minaco who also owned a garage/petrol station there. The can was mainly loose for his weekends commute on the highway. There are a few stone chips but other than that the car is in outstanding conditions. We have refurbished the wheels to a factory finish and have fitted new tires. We will post pictures of the small stone chips on the front end but these a very minor. We will also post pictures of the underbody.

Hello, can you post a better photo of the driver seat, specifically the cushion and the side bolsters? Do you know what body or paint work was performed on this car, if any?

  • 11JM (registered bidder) 10 months, 1 weekago

Hello. I’m going to be bidding from overseas. I’m very interested in the car and it looks stunning in the photos. I’m confident that with the amount of mileage on the car, there must be some imperfections which is expected and understandable. Would you please outline them in some photos? It would be great to not have any surprises. Also could we see some underside photos? Much appreciated
