We are pleased to offer this 1991 Porsche 964 Carrera 4 Coupe finished in a custom shade of Polar Silver.  This 1991 example was purchased new in Alberta, Canada, and remained under the care of two previous owners before it was acquired by the seller in 2016.  It was then brought to the renowned Porsche specialists at Weissach Vancouver to undergo a complete engine rebuild and 3.8L displacement upgrade along with many other refurbishments and upgrades including a new RUF suspension.  The interior has also been entirely redone and outfitted with custom Alcantara upholstery, contrast stitching, German square weave carpeting, a full custom sound system, and factory Sport Seats with tartan fabric inserts.  With well over $100k invested to create the one-of-a-kind 964 we see today, this Carrera 4 is now being offered for auction by its seller out of Canada.

Between 2017-2018, this 964 underwent a complete glass-out respray in a custom Polar Silver blue tint color.  The fenders were also slightly stretched and rolled during this time to accommodate wider wheels and tires.  Other exterior modifications include the installation of updated Aero mirrors, a RUF front splitter, and new Singer-style Xenon projector headlights.  All new lights, reflectors, lamps, and seals were also installed along with a new windshield.  The new paint is said to remain in very good condition aside from one small rock chip on the front hood and a minor scratch on the rear bumper.  Additional images are provided in the gallery along with a clean CARFAX report.  This 964 rides on 17×8-inch front and 17×9.5-inch rear Fifteen52 Outlaw wheels dressed in 225/45 and 255/40 Pirelli P-Zero tires.

Inside, the cabin was completely reconditioned and customized with new Alcantara upholstery and contrasting stitching on the upper and lower dashboard, center console, beltline door trims, rear seat area, parcel shelf, and door pockets.  The factory heated and power-operated Sport Seats were reupholstered with custom tartan fabric inserts.  New vintage-style German square weave carpeting was also installed along with new RUF front floormats and a MOMO Prototipo steering wheel. A full custom sound system was created at a cost of over $5k with a period-correct Nakamichi head unit, Audison amplifier, Focal speakers, a removable subwoofer behind the passenger seat, and an Audison remote Bluetooth source/volume control mounted in the ashtray.  The Airbag/seatbelt warning lights have been disabled on account of the aftermarket steering wheel, and the original Airbag steering wheel will also accompany the sale.  The air conditioning has also been refurbished with a new dash control unit and blower motor.

During the current ownership, this 964 was brought to Weissach Vancouver for a complete engine rebuild including a 3.8L displacement upgrade with a Patrick Motorsports RSR piston and cylinder set, Pauter connecting rods, a Steve Wong performance chip, and a new air intake. All four wheels are driven through a G50 5-speed manual transmission with a factory limited-slip differential and a new RS flywheel and clutch.  Other performance upgrades include a RUF exhaust bypass and full RUF suspension.  The engine rebuild was completed in January of 2020 at 127,785km with a corresponding break-in oil change and valve adjustment performed in April of 2020 at 129,355km.  The car now shows approximately 132,000km and there are no outstanding maintenance items reported by the seller.

This sale will include a clean title, owner’s manuals, a toolkit, air compressor, extensive maintenance records, the original dealer service book stamped from 1992-2005, and a collection of spare and original parts including a 3.8 decklid emblem, the original stereo, mirrors, headlamps and rings, reflectors, taillights, cylinders, and extra tartan fabric for the interior.  With its enhanced styling, masterfully rebuilt 3.8L engine, and incredible attention to detail, this no-expense-spared 964 offers the looks and performance to satisfy any discerning air-cooled enthusiast.

Pardon me if I missed that

@sdematt you know it! I never let anyone drive it except the guys at weissach - and then only if they ABSOLUTELY have to!

  • sdematt (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Having seen and been in this car in person, I can say that the new owner will be in for a treat. The current owner spent a ton of time on money on the build, and dotes on this car. He is incredibly anal, so much so that I wasn’t even allowed to drive it!

The attention to detail is second to none, and if I didn’t already have a few builds in the works, this would have never come to market.

Best of luck on the auction!

@fatcam thanks! It was a lot of work, but totally worth it. Such a great car to start with, and turn into your own. Any plans for yours?

  • fatcam (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Seen this car in person. Absolutely flawless. Would be all over this if I didn't already have a C4.

@Silver930 thanks! Just about to take her to Cars & Coffee, back at the beach where I took the photos last week. Always a good time.

  • Silver930 (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Wow this looks amazing so clean and just perfect !! well done and good luck.

  • 964_Fan (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@RandyK I haven’t dyno’d it - never felt the need as I wasn’t chasing numbers rather just wanted a little more get up and go. Which I got in spades. From what I’ve read and talking to the shop you can usually expect about a 30HP bump minimum with the 3.8L conversion, Steve Wong chip, and Ruf bypass. Probably more.

Only ever registered in Canada but easy to export and title in the USA. There’s some links below in one of the earlier comments that have more info.

    Cheers.

Well done restoration, she’s a beauty!

Horsepower? Title issued in Canada? Has car ever been titled in the US? Thanks

@Ben4 It certainly can. This one is even easier as it is older than 25 years.

If you check out the original sticker in picture 81, you’ll see that this car even meets California emissions) but you may have to replace the Ruf exhaust bypass I installed with the factory muffler (if you’re going to title it in CA). I have that muffler which will be included in the sale.

    Here’s some EPA info: https://www.epa.gov/importing-vehicles-and-engines/importing-canadian-vehicles

And here’s some info from Hagerty’s site, if you want to D.I.Y. It rather than use a broker/shipper: https://www.hagerty.com/media/archived/how-to-import-a-car-from-canada-to-the-us/

    Hope that helps!

  • Ben4 (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

Can the car be brought to the US? What are the barriers? Thanks

  • 964_Fan (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@911reasons No — nothing needed, car was well looked after before I bought it; has a complete service history from day 1, and it really paid off buying a good car to start from.

  • 911reasons (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

so you did not update or change the front differential or any other all wheel drive components?

  • 964_Fan (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

@911reasons She’s still a C4 — it rains a lot here! That said, I never really drove her in the rain, but I like the added grip regardless and with the extra power it seems to get to the wheels super well

  • 911reasons (registered bidder) 2 years, 9 monthsago

is it still a C4 or now a C2 with the mods?

  • 964_Fan (seller) 2 years, 9 monthsago

    Hi everyone!

Excited to start the auction of my car. I’m here to answer any questions you might have. This is a truly lovely car. The engine pulls super strong with gobs of torque and a sweet sweet exhaust note. She handles beautifully — super tight and so much better than the stock car with the Ruf adjustable suspension. Nothing but a wonderful car! I hope you like what I’ve done with it as much as I do.
