We are pleased to offer this 1991 Porsche 964 Turbo finished in Cobalt Blue Metallic over a Classic Grey leather interior.  One of only 674 examples delivered to the U.S. for the model year, this 1991 964 Turbo was delivered new in Chicago before eventually being acquired by the current owner in 2001.  It features a host of high-end upgrades including a hybrid turbocharger, RUF short-throw shifter, RUF sway bars, a TiAL wastegate, B&B exhaust, H&R adjustable suspension, 993 Turbo hollow-spoke wheels, and more.  Accompanied by service records covering the last 20 years including a top-end engine rebuild at 43k miles, this rare 964 Turbo is now being offered for auction by its longtime owner out of North Carolina while showing approximately 44,500 miles on the odometer.

This Turbo is finished in the special-order color of Cobalt Blue Metallic (37U).  Clear Euro front marker lenses have been installed along with RS front splitters, Fabspeed stainless steel exhaust tips, and 18” 993 Turbo hollow-spoke wheels.  A professional paint correction was recently carried out and all the original glass is said to have been retained.  Some minor cosmetic imperfections are noted including chips on the lower front fascia, a scrape on the rear bumper, and thin areas of paint on the passenger side roof and driver side rear fender.  The hood, windshield cowl, front bumper, and driver-side front fender are all said to have been refinished under previous ownership.  Additional images are provided in the photo gallery along with paint meter readings and a clean CARFAX report.  The wheels are currently dressed in Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 which are said to have been mounted about 11 years ago with approximately 4k miles driven since.  The seller reports 10/32 tread in front and 8/32 tread in the rear.

Inside, this 964 highlights a Classic Grey leather interior with 8-way power-adjustable seats, an onboard computer, a genuine RUF short-throw shifter, and an upgraded sound system including an Alpine CDA-9851 stereo and Infinity speakers.  A small tear is noted in the driver side headliner near the sun visor and the seller reports minimal wear on the steering wheel. The A/C was converted to R134 at 29k miles and was serviced again at 44.5k miles.  All gauges and accessories are said to remain fully functional.

The 964 Turbo carried over the 3.3L flat-six single-turbo engine from the 930 with revisions including a new intake and exhaust system, updated Bosch Motronic programming, a larger turbocharger, and a dual-mass flywheel.  In stock configuration, this engine sends as much as 315 HP and 332 lb.-ft of torque to the rear wheels by way of a 5-speed G50/52 manual transmission with a limited-slip differential.  This example has been fitted with a hybrid K27/K29 turbocharger, TiAL wastegate with 0.90 bar spring, B&B stainless steel exhaust with heat exchangers, WEVO semi-solid motor and transmission mounts, a stainless-steel catalytic convertor bypass pipe with oxygen sensor, and stainless-steel catalytic convertor bypass on the wastegate.  The suspension has been upgraded with adjustable H&R struts and springs, a Rennline front strut tower brace, and RUF sway bars.  The stopping power has also been improved with Pagid Sport brake pads.  Routine maintenance has been addressed annually throughout the current ownership and a top-end engine rebuild is said to have been completed by European Performance of Raleigh, NC at 43.5k miles.  An alignment and corner balance were performed at 33.5k miles, and the brake pads, wear sensors, and rotors were replaced at 39k miles.

This sale will include the original owner's manuals, radio instructions, and warranty booklets, a set of two keys, a workshop manual, and a clean title. One of the rarest and most sought-after generations of the 911 Turbo, this example offers a visceral 930-derived engine and rear-wheel-drive configuration combined with the refined styling and technology of the 964. Offered with a rare factory color, high-end upgrades, and less than 45k miles traveled from new, this Turbo is ready to be enjoyed by a new caretaker.

Thanks for the correction. I meant to post the rears being ET 65 which are the 993 narrow body fitment the Turbo wore the ET40's which would rub.

@cobalt Per the wheel pictures, the fronts are 8x18 ET52 and the rears are 10x18 ET65. There has never been any tire rub on the inside or outside of the wheels.

  • cobalt 2 years, 8 monthsago

Just to be clear the rear hollow spoke wheels are the narrow body fitment of ET52 and not the turbo offset of ET 40? The WB ET 40's won't work without some rubbing.

    Like the color? GLWA

Any chance you can wind it out and get up to full boost on video?

  • burnrubr (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

beautiful car! this rare example doesn't come very often being a Cobalt Blue and a turbo so if you're serious and no BS bid seriously before it's gone. Very tempting!

  • gtamustang (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@Abster The front end repaint happened with the first owner between 1991 and 2001. I have no knowledge of what happened. I am confident that all of the repainted parts are original to this Porsche.

The original parts that were replaced with better/upgraded parts are included with the Porsche. I will not be selling the parts. Either the buyer takes them with the Porsche or I will dispose of them.

  • Abster (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@gtamustang Thanks for the clarification. Do you know the cause of the repaints? Trying to understand the cause.

Also, will the parts be included in the sale price? Or will they cost extra?

  • gtamustang (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@Abster The paint is not all original as stated in the description. The driver side front fender, hood, cowl, and bumper cover have been repainted (paint meter gauge pics show the thickness).

Original parts that are available to buyer with the Porsche: am/fm cassette player, shifter, f/r sway bars, f/r spring/strut assemblies, both catalytic convertors, l/r exhaust w/heat exchangers, turbo (not usable), waste gate, exhaust tips, & motor mounts.

  • Abster (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Just to reconfirm: The paint is all original?

Also do you mind putting a list of the all the parts that have been swapped out? Will they be included in the sale price?

  • Carterk (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Wow….I swore I’d never sell my 964t but this cobalt blue makes me want to trade for it. Gorgeous car, hands down my favorite Porsche. GLWS!

Absolutely stunning color! I've always loved the 964 turbos and hope to own one someday...wish I were in a position to bid on this but the garage is currently full according to my wife. (I attest that the garage is simply too small.)

  • gtamustang (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@Nine11 Yes, I am available to show you the car and Thursday evening is good. Send me a private message and we can work out the details of the viewing.

  • Nine11 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Very interested in your beautiful 964 Turbo. Can I see it Thursday night? I'm flying into RDU Friday evening before heading to VIR for a track day on Friday. Please let me know if this possible and how to best arrange for a brief look at it. Thank you

I have known the owner of this car for 25 years and remember when he got it. He has a sharp eye for quality and everything done to this car was thought out and done carefully. We made a long trip to FL one time, changing driving duties, it was a trip I will always remember. These cars are an absolute pleasure to drive and have the most raw driver input that I have not experienced with another make/model. The owner is straight up and trustworthy. I just saw the car recently and it is exactly as described here. GLWTA!

  • gtamustang (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@porschebf I do not have the original rims. However, unlike the 1994 Speedlines, the 1991 rims are not hard to obtain through several Porsche dismantlers.

I have all of the other original parts that I replaced with upgrades. These parts are available to the buyer if desired.

  • porschebf (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

Are the original rims available/included ?

    Thanks

@Bd71500 Good question. Since I have owned this Porsche, it has not been raced, tracked, parade lapped, or club event runs.

  • Bd71500 (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

has this car been raced or tracked?

  • DubbleDeez1 2 years, 8 monthsago

I was waiting for this to go live to see in more detail! the videos randomly popped up in my youtube feed the day you uploaded them. Stunning car and color.

  • gtamustang (seller) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@ChrisA I have all of the service records since I have owned the porsche and the a/c conversion and PPI receipts before I took ownership in 2001.

  • ChrisA (registered bidder) 2 years, 8 monthsago

@gtamustang. Can you confirm what service records are available for the car? Thanks Chris
